Abiotic Factor uses three sandbox multipliers for survival needs: HungerSpeedMultiplier, ThirstSpeedMultiplier and FatigueSpeedMultiplier. Each accepts a value from 0.0 to 2.0, with 1.0 as the default. Values above 1.0 make the need accumulate faster; values below 1.0 slow it down; and 0.0 disables that need. Change them in your host’s Sandbox Settings panel when available, or edit SandboxSettings.ini while the server is stopped, then restart the server.
If you prefer to manage a hosted world through a game panel, Godlike.Host’s Abiotic Factor servers include its own Pterodactyl-based game panel with a config editor. What the three multipliers control
The settings change how quickly each survival need builds up. They do not directly add food, water or sleep, and they do not change player inventory. The value is a server-side sandbox setting.

A value below 1.0 makes the need build more slowly than the default. A value above 1.0 makes it build more quickly. Keep the value within the documented 0.0–2.0 range; entries outside that range are not a supported configuration.

Before you edit anything
- Make sure you know which world the server is actually running. The file must belong to that world’s save folder.
- Stop the server before changing a file. Editing while the process is running can be overwritten or ignored.
- Keep a copy of the existing settings file so you can restore the previous values.
- Decide whether your host’s control panel already exposes these settings. A panel is less error-prone because it writes the settings to the location used by that host.
Method 1: Change the values in a host control panel
If your provider has a sandbox-settings editor, use it instead of searching for the file manually.
Wabbanode panel
- Stop the Abiotic Factor server.
- Open the Settings tab in the server control panel.
- Open Sandbox Settings.
- Find the survival multipliers for hunger, thirst and fatigue.
- Enter the required values, staying between 0.0 and 2.0.
- Choose Save, then start the server.
Game Host Bros panel
- Stop the server or use the panel’s restart workflow.
- Open the sandbox or survival settings provided by the panel.
- Change the hunger, thirst and fatigue multipliers.
- Use Save & Restart so the new values are written and loaded in one operation.
Labels differ between providers, but the underlying settings are the same three keys. If a panel offers a numeric field, enter the multiplier itself rather than a percentage or a countdown time.
Method 2: Edit SandboxSettings.ini directly
Direct editing works when you can access the server’s save files. The usual location is:

AbioticFactor/Saved/SaveGames/Server/Worlds/<WorldName>/SandboxSettings.iniReplace <WorldName> with the folder for the world you want to change. Some hosting setups use a different directory, including a Config/WindowsServer location. If the usual path is absent, use the host’s current file manager documentation rather than creating a second copy in an arbitrary folder.
Step-by-step file edit
- Stop the server from the control panel.
- Open the save folder for the correct world.
- Open
SandboxSettings.iniin a plain-text editor. Make a backup before changing it. - Ensure the file begins with the section header
[SandboxSettings]. - Add or change only the keys you want to override.
- Save the file as plain text, retaining the exact
.iniextension. - Start or restart the server.
A minimal file can look like this:

FatigueSpeedMultiplier=0.0You do not need to list every sandbox option. The relevant keys can be listed under the [SandboxSettings] header, while unspecified settings retain their existing or default behavior.
Choosing values for your server

Apply the change one need at a time if you are trying to tune difficulty. That makes it easier to identify which setting produced an unwanted result. You can also combine different values—for example, leave hunger at 1.0, slow thirst, and disable fatigue—by editing the three keys independently.

Turning off hunger, thirst or fatigue
Disable hunger
Set HungerSpeedMultiplier=0.0. Hunger will not build up while that value is active.
Disable thirst
Set ThirstSpeedMultiplier=0.0. This removes the thirst accumulation mechanic without changing the rest of the survival settings.
Disable fatigue and sleep requirements
Set FatigueSpeedMultiplier=0.0. The documented behavior for this value is that characters never need sleep.

After changing a value to 0.0, restart the server. A player who already has a filled need may not see an instant visual reset; the multiplier controls future accumulation rather than serving as a command to refill or clear a status bar.

Guidance about changing settings on an already-created world is inconsistent. One set of instructions treats sandbox choices as world-creation data and suggests using a -SandboxIniPath launch option to override them. A Steam discussion reports that settings can be changed on an existing world. Because these approaches conflict, check the current documentation for your host and server build before relying on a launch-option override.

Editing an unused copy of SandboxSettings.ini will not affect the running world.
Troubleshooting changes that do not apply
The server starts, but the old rate remains
- Confirm the server was fully stopped before the file was edited and restarted afterward.
- Check that the file is inside
SaveGames/Server/Worlds/<WorldName>for the active world, or in the alternate directory specified by your provider. - Verify the section header is exactly
[SandboxSettings], including brackets and capitalization. - Check each key name character-for-character:
HungerSpeedMultiplier,ThirstSpeedMultiplierandFatigueSpeedMultiplier. - Make sure the values use decimal numbers such as
0.5or1.0, not text or percentage signs.
The panel change disappears after a restart
Use the panel’s own Save or Save & Restart action rather than closing the page after typing. If you also edit the file manually, the panel may regenerate its managed configuration; choose one management method and verify the resulting file after the restart.
The file is missing
Some panels create a settings file only after the world has been started. Start the world once, stop the server cleanly, then inspect the save directories again. If your provider stores configuration under Config/WindowsServer instead of the usual save path, follow that provider’s documented layout.
Only some settings work
Compare the working and non-working entries for spelling, section placement and numeric format. Keep all three multiplier lines under [SandboxSettings]; do not put them in a different INI section.
A reliable change-and-verify procedure
- Record the current values, either by copying the file or taking a screenshot of the panel.
- Stop the server.
- Change one or more of the three multipliers using the panel or the correct world file.
- Check the section header, key spelling and numeric range before saving.
- Restart the server using the panel’s start or restart control.
- Join the affected world and observe the relevant need over normal play. If nothing changes, stop again and re-check the active world path and host-specific configuration method.
The settings are independent, so a successful hunger change does not prove that thirst or fatigue was read from the same file. Verify each key you changed.
The Bottom Line
Use the host’s Sandbox Settings editor when available. Otherwise, stop the server and edit SandboxSettings.ini under the active world’s save folder, beginning with [SandboxSettings]. Set HungerSpeedMultiplier, ThirstSpeedMultiplier and FatigueSpeedMultiplier between 0.0 and 2.0; 1.0 is default and 0.0 disables the corresponding need.
