To change bass on Spotify, open Settings and privacy → Playback → Equalizer on iPhone or Android, turn on Equalizer, then choose a preset or drag the dots. On desktop, open Settings → Playback and turn on Equalizer. Spotify’s equalizer adjusts bass and treble in music and podcasts.
Change bass in the Spotify mobile app
- Tap your profile picture.
- Open Settings and privacy, then tap Playback.
- Tap or switch on Equalizer. On Android, find it under Listening controls.
- Choose a preset or drag the equalizer dots to adjust the sound. To make playback bassier, experiment with the controls rather than relying on a universal setting; Spotify does not specify one ideal curve for everyone.
Spotify documents these steps for iOS and Android in its Equalizer help page. On Android, a built-in device equalizer may also affect audio in other apps.

- Under Playback, switch on Equalizer.
- Choose a preset or drag the dots to adjust the levels.
Spotify’s cited instructions say “Desktop” and do not separately confirm the web player. The setting names or layout may change over time.

If the equalizer is unavailable
Check whether Spotify is playing through Spotify Connect on another device. Spotify says audio settings cannot be changed while using Connect to play on another device. Stop Connect playback or return playback to the device where you want to adjust the equalizer, then try again.
