To add an ARK: Survival Evolved server to Steam Favorites, open Steam and choose View > Servers (called Game Servers in some client versions). Open the Favorites tab, select Add a Server, enter the server’s PUBLIC_IP:QUERY_PORT, choose Find Games at This Address, and add the ARK server returned by the query. Then launch ARK, open Join ARK, and change the server filter to Favorites.

The critical detail is the port: use the server’s query port, not automatically the gameplay port. A common configuration uses game port 7777 and query port 27015, but the values configured by the server owner or host control panel are authoritative.

What you need before adding the server
Get these details from the server owner or hosting control panel:
- The reachable public IP address for the server.
- The configured Steam query port.
- Confirmation that the server process is online and accepting queries.
Remote players generally use the host’s public IP. A player on the same local network may instead need a local address, depending on the router and network setup. Do not assume that the address shown on the host computer is the address remote players should enter.

How to add an ARK server to Steam Favorites
- Open Steam’s server browser. In the Steam desktop client, select View > Servers. Some client versions label this menu item View > Game Servers.
- Open Favorites. In the server window, select the Favorites tab.
- Start the add-server search. Click Add a Server or the add/plus control, depending on the client layout.
- Enter the address in the required format. Type
PUBLIC_IP:QUERY_PORT. For example,203.0.113.25:27015is a documentation example, not a real server address. - Query the address. Select Find Games at This Address. Steam should return the server if it is reachable and answering queries.
- Save the returned server. Select the ARK server in the results and choose Add Selected Game Server to Favorites or Add this address to favorites.
- Open ARK’s browser. Start ARK: Survival Evolved, choose Join ARK, and change the server filter to Favorites.
The ARK Official Community Wiki documents the same method: “Using the Steam game server browser it is also possible to add the server IP:QUERYPORT details directly into your favourites.” A Steam Community guide also notes that adding the address places it in Steam’s server list and in the in-game Favorites list.
Which port should you use: 7777 or 27015?
Use the query port in Steam’s Favorites address. The gameplay/server port is a different setting used for game traffic.

ARK server configurations also separate peer and RCON ports. The examples above are common defaults, not guaranteed settings. Always use the values currently configured on the server. If the query port is above 27019/27020, the ARK setup reference says it must be supplied explicitly for Steam browser discovery; do not rely on an assumed default.

Where is the Favorites tab in ARK?
After you add the server through Steam, launch ARK: Survival Evolved and open Join ARK. The server browser has a filter control; select Favorites rather than Official, Unofficial, LAN, or another listing filter. Steam Favorites and ARK’s in-game Favorites are connected by the Steam server-browser entry, so adding the address in Steam is the step that makes it available in this filter.
If the server is not visible under Favorites, return to Steam’s View > Servers window and query the address directly. A direct result there distinguishes a browser-filter issue from a connectivity or server-configuration problem.
Why doesn’t my ARK server show up in Steam Favorites?
A missing result usually comes from one of five causes: the server is offline, the wrong address was used, the gameplay port was entered instead of the query port, required ports are blocked, or the server is being viewed through an unsuitable network address.

Check that the server is running and answering queries
Confirm with the owner or hosting panel that the server process has finished starting and is accepting queries. A machine can be powered on while the ARK process is stopped, restarting, or not yet ready for browser requests. Run Find Games at This Address again after confirming the process state.
Verify the address players can actually reach
For an internet connection, enter the host’s public IP, not an internal address such as a private LAN address. A player on the same LAN may need the local address instead, depending on the router’s loopback behavior. If the owner supplied a hostname or a changed public address, ask for the current reachable value before testing again.
Recheck the port type
Compare the number after the colon with the server’s query-port setting. Entering IP:7777 when the query port is 27015 asks Steam to query the gameplay port and commonly produces no result. Conversely, do not replace a custom query port with 27015 merely because it is a frequent default.

Check router forwarding and firewall rules
The ARK dedicated-server setup guidance says the configured local ports must be forwarded through the router and allowed by the firewall, with both UDP and TCP local ports forwarded for the server to appear in lists. Verify the forwarding destination is the machine running ARK, and verify that the host firewall allows the configured ARK and query traffic. A forwarding rule aimed at an old local IP can fail even when the rule itself looks correct.
Account for nonstandard query ports
When the query port is above 27019/27020, supply that exact port in Steam. An address without the explicit custom query port can be invisible even though the server is online.

The ARK wiki provides a Steam master-server check at https://api.steampowered.com/ISteamApps/GetServersAtAddress/v0001?addr=<IP>. Replace <IP> with the server’s IP address when making the request.
A successful response includes the server address, application ID 346110 for ARK: Survival Evolved, the game port, and related server fields. This endpoint is a diagnostic check, not a substitute for correct firewall rules, router forwarding, or the proper query port. If it returns no useful server entry, first recheck the public address, server process, query configuration, and network permissions.
Steam Favorites, in-game search, and direct connection compared
These methods solve different problems. Steam Favorites is the documented IP-and-query-port workflow for the Steam edition. ARK’s normal server search is convenient when the server is correctly listed and you know its name or filters. Direct console/IP connection is a separate platform-dependent option and should not be confused with Steam’s Favorites list.

Steam and Epic Games Store versions are different
The Favorites procedure in this article applies to the Steam version. A Host Havoc support guide updated June 10, 2026, says the Epic Games Store version does not currently provide a direct IP/port join method in the same way and describes using ARK’s in-game console instead. Epic’s client behavior can change, so check the current Epic-specific instructions if you are not using Steam.
Installing ARK through Epic does not make the Steam server-browser Favorites workflow appear automatically. Use the connection method supported by that platform rather than expecting the Steam View > Servers window to control the Epic client.
