Gyre documents that you can change the playlist while a stream is running, so you can refresh its videos without rebuilding the broadcast. Add the video to Gyre Storage, arrange it in the playlist used by the stream, apply the playlist change to the active stream, then check the stream in your Gyre account. Gyre’s documentation does not specify exactly when a newly added video begins playing.
How to add a video to an active Gyre stream
Gyre describes a playlist as the ordered set of stored files played by a stream. Its guidance supports changing that playlist while the broadcast is active, but does not provide a verified sequence of dashboard button names. Use the stream and playlist controls available in your account rather than relying on assumed labels.
- Open the running stream in Gyre. Identify the playlist currently assigned to it before making changes.
- Upload the video if it is not already stored. Gyre’s documented workflow uses Gyre Storage for uploaded videos.
- Build or edit the relevant playlist. Select the videos the stream should play and arrange them in the intended order.
- Check the file report or compatibility check. Review any warnings before relying on the file in a live broadcast.
- Apply the playlist change to the existing stream. Return to the active stream’s playlist selection and make the updated playlist its source.
- Verify the stream state in your Gyre account. Confirm that the broadcast remains active and that the intended playlist is attached.
Will the new video start playing immediately?
Gyre’s documentation says a playlist can be changed on a running stream, but it does not establish whether an added video starts immediately, waits until the current file ends, or takes effect at another point in playback. Check the active stream in your account rather than assuming a playback boundary.
Check video compatibility before changing the playlist
Review Gyre’s file report and any warnings before launch or playlist changes. Gyre calls out resolution, frame rate, and audio consistency as parameters to check. Its documentation also says YouTube locks some stream parameters when the stream is created. A mismatch should therefore be addressed before relying on the file; do not assume you can correct stream parameters after the broadcast has started.

Gyre’s converter guidance describes checking a stored file and optimizing it when needed. Use the available check and converter guidance in your account if Gyre reports a problem, then confirm the resulting file is suitable for the stream.
Playlist editing versus rebuilding the broadcast
For refreshing the videos in an already-running stream, Gyre’s documented playlist-change workflow is the lighter option: update the playlist attached to the active broadcast instead of rebuilding or relaunching it. The documentation supports changing the playlist during a running stream; it does not guarantee the exact transition timing for a newly added file.
