How to Add Shuto Revival Project AI Traffic to Assetto Corsa

To add Shuto Revival Project (SRP) traffic, install the current SRP track, use full Content Manager with AssettoServer, obtain the SRP-specific fast_lane.ai or fast_lane.aip spline, and create a traffic preset whose capacity is large enough for every entry. For a freeroam server that hangs at “Initialising AI spline,” rename the local layout’s ai folder to ai_off. The stable SRP release is currently 0.9.3; the separate 0.9.4 public test build (PTB) requires CSP 0.2.11 or newer and has different folders and spline instructions.

What you need before adding traffic

The documented SRP traffic setup is a server workflow rather than a single drag-and-drop car mod. Prepare all of these components first:

• Assetto Corsa installed and working.
• Full Content Manager, including its Server tab. The documented workflow is not based on the limited version.
• AssettoServer. The AssettoServer documentation page checked in 2026 identifies version 0.0.54.
• Shutoko Revival Project (SRP). The official SRP site currently labels version 0.9.3 as the stable release.

Choose the SRP release before you install anything

The SRP 0.9.4 PTB page says its folder is unique. A spline that works with 0.9.3 should therefore not be assumed to work with 0.9.4 PTB. Recheck the current SRP and AssettoServer announcements whenever a Discord attachment or folder name changes.

Install the stable SRP track

1. Download the current stable package from the official Shutoko Revival Project site. At present, that site labels 0.9.3 as stable and says the stable release is required for most servers.
2. Extract the package into the Assetto Corsa installation so the supplied track content is placed under the game’s content/tracks directory. Preserve the folder names from the archive; do not rename a layout to make it resemble another release.
3. Open Content Manager and confirm that the SRP layouts appear in the track list. If they do not, the archive was extracted one directory too deep or into a different Assetto Corsa installation.
4. Check the installed CSP version in Content Manager before creating a server preset. If you selected the 0.9.4 PTB, update CSP to at least 0.2.11 first.

SRP is the community project that recreates Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway for Assetto Corsa. Its official site describes it as the definitive version of Shutoko and reports more than 700,000 Discord members (page checked in 2026), so several similarly named downloads and community files may exist. The release label and folder are more reliable identifiers than a filename alone.

Get the correct AI spline

Traffic cars need an AI spline that defines where they drive. For SRP, use the project-specific fast_lane.ai or fast_lane.aip supplied for your layout. The AssettoServer beginner’s guide points users to pinned releases in the AssettoServer Discord rather than to one permanent attachment filename.

• Match the spline to the SRP release: stable 0.9.3 files belong with the stable layout; PTB files belong with 0.9.4 PTB.
• Match the spline to the layout named in your preset, normally Shutoko Revival Project – Main Layout.
• Do not substitute a generic Assetto Corsa AI line or a spline made for a different SRP branch.
• If a pinned attachment has been replaced, use the newest release note or announcement instead of guessing the old filename.

Keep the original downloaded spline in a separate backup folder until the server starts successfully. That makes it easier to roll back if a new attachment targets a different track build.

Create a traffic preset in Content Manager

Content Manager’s Server tab creates the initial configuration. The following sequence follows the documented SRP traffic workflow.

1. Open Content Manager → Server and create a new server preset.
2. In the track selector, choose Shutoko Revival Project – Main Layout. Do not choose a decorative, reverse, or alternate layout unless the spline release explicitly names it.
3. Add the traffic cars to the entry list. The guide’s example uses one RUF CTR Yellowbird, five Audi S1 cars, and five Toyota GT-86 cars. You may use a different roster, but every traffic car must be installed on the server and on each client that joins.
4. Set Capacity to cover the complete entry list. Capacity must include the traffic entries as well as any human-driver slots you intend to reserve.
5. Save the preset and start it locally in Content Manager for a quick check. Watch for missing-car messages before moving the files to a dedicated server.

Do not exceed the layout’s pit limit. The AssettoServer guide warns that a capacity higher than the available pits can crash clients. If you need more traffic, reduce the number of human slots or use a layout and release that explicitly supports a larger entry count; do not solve it by setting an arbitrary high capacity.

How capacity and traffic entries interact

Pack and run the AssettoServer setup

1. Save the Content Manager preset after the track, spline, cars, and capacity are correct.
2. If you are moving the setup to a dedicated Windows folder, use Content Manager’s pack option for Windows. This produces the server package and preserves the preset’s required files.
3. Extract the AssettoServer release and the packed preset into the dedicated server directory. Keep the directory structure intact; moving only the executable or only the configuration breaks relative paths.
4. Launch AssettoServer.exe, or run the packed preset from Content Manager if you are hosting through the application.
5. Join with a client installation that has the same SRP release, required cars, and a compatible CSP. Test one client before distributing the server details to a larger group.

Content Manager hosting is convenient for a local or occasional session. A dedicated AssettoServer folder is easier to keep running independently of the game launcher and is the better fit for a persistent freeroam server.

Fix “Initialising AI spline” on a freeroam server

The most common SRP freeroam failure is a server that stays at “Initialising AI spline.” According to the AssettoServer FAQ, the game is loading the single-player AI spline in the local game files even though a freeroam server does not need it.

1. Close Assetto Corsa and Content Manager.
2. Open the local SRP layout folder for the regular layout you are using.
3. Find the directory named ai.
4. Rename that directory to ai_off. Renaming is safer than deleting it because you can restore single-player behavior later.
5. Start the freeroam server again and watch the server log for the spline initialization to complete.

This fix has a deliberate trade-off: while the folder is named ai_off, single-player AI and some track-cut penalties are disabled for that local layout. When you want ordinary single-player races again, stop the server and rename ai_off back to ai. Use the regular layout for this procedure; do not apply it blindly to a different SRP branch.

Require a minimum CSP version on your server

Server owners can make a track available only through a CSP-specific path and enforce a minimum CSP build. This is an advanced packaging change; make a backup of the original track before editing it.

1. Place the track under content/tracks/csp in the server’s track content.
2. In the server configuration, set the track path in this form: TRACK=csp/<CSPversionID>/../<trackname>. Replace the angle-bracketed values with the CSP version identifier and the actual track folder name.
3. Open the track’s surfaces.ini.
4. Change only the first surface section name from SURFACE_0 to CSPFACE_0.
5. Leave every other surface section unchanged, save the file, and test with a clean client.

Changing additional surface sections causes client checksum errors. A checksum mismatch is therefore a sign to restore the original surface names and repeat the procedure with only the first section changed.

Stable release, PTB, and hosting method compared

Troubleshoot the failures that occur most often

The SRP layout is missing in Content Manager

• Confirm that the archive was extracted into the active Assetto Corsa installation, not a second Steam library.
• Check that the track folder is directly under content/tracks and was not nested inside an extra archive-named folder.
• Verify that Content Manager is pointed at the same installation where you extracted SRP.

“Initialising AI spline” returns after a successful test

• Confirm that you renamed the local layout’s ai directory, not a similarly named server directory.
• Make sure the preset uses the regular layout and the matching SRP spline.
• If you switched from stable to PTB, undo the old workaround only after checking the PTB’s current instructions; the folder structure is different.

Clients crash while joining

• Lower Capacity so it does not exceed the layout’s pit limit.
• Check that every listed traffic car exists on the server and client with the same folder ID.
• Confirm that all players have the same SRP release and layout. Mixing 0.9.3 and 0.9.4 PTB content is not supported by the documented workflow.

Clients receive a checksum error

• Revert any edits to extra sections in surfaces.ini.
• For CSP enforcement, only the first SURFACE_0 section should become CSPFACE_0.
• Ensure the server’s TRACK= value follows the required csp/<CSPversionID>/../<trackname> pattern.

Traffic cars do not appear

• Check that the entry list contains actual traffic entries, not just a high Capacity value.
• Verify the spline is for the selected layout and release.
• Read the server log for a missing car, missing spline, or path error before changing the capacity.

The PTB will not load

• Install CSP 0.2.11 or newer; the 0.9.4 PTB lists that as its minimum.
• Use the unique PTB folder and PTB spline.
• Check the current SRP wiki and AssettoServer Discord announcement because PTB instructions can change.

Keeping a setup that can be repaired

• Keep separate directories or backups for stable 0.9.3 and 0.9.4 PTB content.
• Record the SRP release, CSP version, AssettoServer version, spline filename, track path, and Capacity in the server notes.
• Back up the original ai directory and surfaces.ini before renaming or editing either file.
• When a Discord attachment is replaced, download the new file and confirm its release and layout in the accompanying announcement before overwriting a working spline.
• Test locally with one client after every track, CSP, spline, or entry-list change.

Quick verification checklist

• SRP release selected deliberately: stable 0.9.3 or PTB 0.9.4.
• Correct CSP installed; CSP 0.2.11 or newer for 0.9.4 PTB.
• Full Content Manager and AssettoServer installed.
• Preset uses Shutoko Revival Project – Main Layout.
• SRP-specific fast_lane.ai or fast_lane.aip matches the release and layout.
• Traffic cars are installed and listed.
• Capacity covers traffic and players without exceeding the pit limit.
• For freeroam, the local ai directory is renamed to ai_off.
• If CSP enforcement is enabled, the track path and single CSPFACE_0 change are exact.

With those conditions met, SRP traffic is a repeatable AssettoServer configuration rather than a trial-and-error mod installation. The key is matching four things—track release, layout, spline, and CSP—before troubleshooting the server itself.
