Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesTo change videos on a YouTube stream without ending the live broadcast, keep one encoder feed running and schedule the changes in the layer that controls its content—such as an encoder scene workflow or a separate playout system. YouTube’s scheduled-event controls decide when a broadcast starts or ends; they do not, by themselves, switch clips inside a continuous broadcast.
Choose what you mean by “scheduled”
Schedule a YouTube broadcast
A scheduled broadcast has a planned start time and can appear to viewers as an upcoming event. Its controls concern the live event’s start and end. They do not determine which video an encoder sends at a particular time.

Schedule a change in the video feed
For a video change that does not take the stream offline, the encoder must keep sending a continuous feed while its content changes. Arrange that change in the encoder workflow or a separate playout layer. If you stop the encoder feed, the broadcast may stop or behave according to its configured auto-stop and reconnection settings.

Local encoder workflow
Run OBS or another software encoder on a computer, connect it to YouTube using the channel integration or the stream URL and key, and keep the encoder session active as the content changes. This gives you control over scenes and production, but the computer, network connection, media files, and encoder must keep operating. The exact timed-transition setup depends on the workflow or automation you choose; do not assume YouTube’s scheduled-event settings provide it.

Cloud playout
YouTube’s verified-encoder directory lists Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos. That listing establishes the category of tool, not its current pricing, terms, or the precise scheduling functions available on each plan. Check those details directly before choosing a service.
Separate broadcast for a scheduled segment
If a segment should have its own live video or watch page rather than simply replace the current clip, YouTube’s Live Streaming API documents a pattern in which two broadcast resources are bound to the same stream. In its example, the ongoing 24/7 broadcast remains live while a separate interview broadcast begins and later completes; the encoder continues sending video throughout. This is different from changing clips on one continuous watch page.

Set up and test a continuous feed
- Enable live streaming in YouTube Studio. Allow time for first-time enablement; YouTube says it may take up to 24 hours.
- Choose the content-control layer. Decide whether an encoder workflow will change scenes or media, a cloud playout service will manage prerecorded content, or API-managed broadcasts are needed for separate watch pages.
- Create or select the broadcast. Set its title, visibility, and other metadata. If you configure a scheduled broadcast, understand its auto-start and auto-stop behavior. OBS’s project guide notes that auto-stop ends the broadcast after streaming stops and prevents reconnecting to continue that same scheduled broadcast.
- Connect the encoder. Use YouTube’s account integration where available, or configure the encoder with YouTube’s stream URL and stream key. Keep the encoder session running during content changes.
- Test the actual transitions. Verify picture, audio, motion, and what happens after a disconnect or restart. YouTube advises testing with representative audio and motion and monitoring stream health; do not treat a transition as unattended until you have checked it in the real workflow.
- Set bitrate for the connection you have. YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends H.264 ingest at 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps and 17 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps. These are recommended ingest settings, not proof that your upload connection can sustain them continuously.
- Use the recommended transport and encoder settings. Prefer RTMPS when your encoder supports it. YouTube describes it as a secure extension to RTMP and recommends it. Its general RTMP/RTMPS guidance calls for CBR, keyframes at a recommended two-second frequency (not exceeding four seconds), and audio encoded as AAC or MP3.
What to check when it does not work
- The video changes but the live broadcast ends: Check whether the encoder stopped sending, whether the broadcast has auto-stop enabled, and whether the change was made to the content source rather than by starting a new YouTube event.
- A scheduled video does not appear at the expected time: Confirm that the timing is configured in the content-control workflow. A YouTube scheduled event controls broadcast timing, not timed clip changes inside the feed.
- The stream drops during a transition: Check encoder session continuity, network stability, and stream health. Test the transition with the same media and audio conditions intended for the live run.
- Viewers see buffering or degraded quality: Compare the configured bitrate with the sustained upload capacity, and use YouTube’s resolution and frame-rate recommendations as ingest guidance rather than assuming a nominal connection speed will hold.
- A separate segment is needed, but the current watch page should remain live: Use the API-managed separate-broadcast pattern rather than treating a clip switch as a new event. The API documentation describes binding both broadcasts to the same stream.
Or let it run in the cloud
