You can add prerecorded video to a Streamlabs Talk Studio YouTube broadcast in two ways: schedule an entire video as a prerecorded stream, or share an MP4 during a live studio session. Scheduling is for a video you want to broadcast at a set time; sharing is for playing a clip within a session that may also include live presenters or guests.
Choose how the video should appear
| What you want to do | Use this Talk Studio path | Key constraint |
|---|---|---|
| Broadcast one complete prerecorded video at a planned time | Schedule a YouTube stream and choose Pre-recorded video | Streamlabs’ scheduling guide states a 5 GB file maximum, a 50-day scheduling window, and duration limits of 1 hour on Standard or 2 hours on Pro/Ultra. Confirm current limits in Talk Studio. |
| Play a video as one source in a session that is already live or will include live elements | In the studio, use Share and select the video file | Streamlabs’ screen-sharing guide says only MP4 video formats are accepted. |
If you need live commentary or guests alongside a clip, use the in-session route. If the video itself is the broadcast and should begin at a planned time, use scheduling. Talk Studio’s published scheduling limits make it unsuitable for a single video longer than the limit for your plan.

Schedule a whole prerecorded video
- Open Talk Studio and select Schedule. Streamlabs’ scheduling guide also lists Shift+J as a shortcut.
- Select + Schedule.
- Choose YouTube as the destination.
- Select Pre-recorded video and upload your video file.
- Enter the stream title and description, choose the date and time, and add a thumbnail.
- Schedule the stream, then review its entry or confirmation to make sure the details are correct.
- At showtime, enter the studio for the scheduled stream and press Go Live to start it.
Scheduling sets up the broadcast; Streamlabs’ guide says to enter the studio and start the scheduled stream at showtime. Do not assume that creating a schedule alone starts the video automatically.

Check the file and schedule limits
Streamlabs’ Talk Studio Broadcast Scheduling guide states that the prerecorded file limit is 5 GB, the scheduling window is 50 days, and the maximum video duration is 1 hour on Standard or 2 hours on Pro/Ultra. The guide does not show a publication year, and plan limits can change, so check the current scheduling screen before relying on those figures. If a file exceeds the size or duration limit, this scheduling route will not accept it as-is.

Share an MP4 during a live Talk Studio session
- Open your Talk Studio session and use Share.
- Select the video file you want to play. Streamlabs’ guide, How to Screen Share with Talk Studio, says: “If you’re sharing a Video, MP4 formats accepted only.”
- Start or switch to the video source from Talk Studio’s left navigation bar. Added videos appear there, allowing you to switch among them during the stream.
- Keep in mind that screen sharing and video cannot be on the main canvas at the same time. Choose the source that should be visible to viewers.
For a video played from a browser tab or window rather than uploaded as a local video, enable Share tab audio if viewers should hear its sound. Audio-sharing behavior can depend on operating-system restrictions.
Check YouTube eligibility and content rights
- Confirm channel eligibility: YouTube’s Get started with live streaming guide says the channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions within the previous 90 days. It also states that livestreamers must be at least 16. Check YouTube Studio for your account’s current eligibility and rules.
- Use content you have rights to broadcast: YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions require necessary rights for live content, including applicable music licensing rights. Streamlabs warns that YouTube may enforce copyright on music shared through Talk Studio. Use video and audio you own or have licensed for this broadcast.
- Test before the event: YouTube recommends testing a live stream and monitoring stream health. Talk Studio’s browser-based workflow should be set up in its own interface; encoder-specific instructions such as RTMPS and manual encoder settings apply to encoder workflows, not as a substitute for Talk Studio’s in-app connection.
If you are considering a continuous prerecorded stream beyond Talk Studio’s stated duration limits, YouTube’s Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder page includes a directory that lists Gyre as a cloud tool for continuous livestreaming of prerecorded video. Check that tool’s current capabilities and terms before choosing it.

Troubleshoot common problems
- The upload is rejected: For a scheduled prerecorded video, check the 5 GB file maximum and your plan’s duration limit in the current Talk Studio interface. For an in-session video share, confirm that the file is MP4.
- The video does not appear in the studio: After using Share to add it, look in the left navigation bar and select the video source. If it is absent, check whether the upload completed and try adding the file again.
- The video and screen share cannot both be shown: Talk Studio does not put screen and video on the main canvas together. Switch to the source you want viewers to see.
- Viewers cannot hear a browser video: When sharing a browser tab or window, enable Share tab audio. If sound remains unavailable, the operating system may restrict audio sharing.
- The scheduled stream has not started: Open the scheduled session in Talk Studio at showtime and press Go Live; scheduling alone is not confirmation that the broadcast has begun.
- YouTube blocks or interrupts the broadcast: Check channel eligibility and any live-stream restrictions in YouTube Studio, then review the stream’s content for material you lack rights to use. Follow YouTube’s current stream-health guidance.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is an always-on YouTube channel playing uploaded videos, rather than a scheduled Talk Studio show or a clip in a live session, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the video as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month.
