To add a video to an existing playlist, open YouTube Studio on a computer and go to Content → Playlists. Open the playlist menu, choose Edit on YouTube, then use More → Add videos to select videos from search, a URL, or your library. That updates the playlist; it does not guarantee that a 24/7 stream already in progress will reload the playlist or play the new video.
Add a video through YouTube Studio
- Sign in to YouTube Studio on a computer.
- Open Content → Playlists.
- Find the playlist used by your channel and open its menu.
- Select Edit on YouTube.
- In the playlist editor, choose More → Add videos.
- Choose the video source—search, a URL, or your library—then select the video to add it.
Once added, check the playlist itself to confirm the video appears. YouTube describes a playlist as a collection of videos; playlist membership is separate from the settings or playback queue of a live stream.

Put the new video in the right position
After adding the video, review the playlist order. In the computer playlist editor, drag the video or Short up or down to reposition it. To undo an addition, open the item’s menu and select Remove from [PLAYLIST NAME].
If these controls are missing, account type or interface differences may be responsible. YouTube notes that playlist editing may not be available for supervised accounts. Check the current YouTube Studio interface for your account.

Will the running 24/7 stream play the new video?
Not necessarily. Adding a video changes playlist membership, but YouTube’s playlist instructions do not promise that an existing continuous stream will refresh its source playlist. Live-stream settings and playlist editing are separate operations, and behavior depends on how the stream is produced.
- Identify what actually supplies playback: a YouTube playlist, an encoder or other third-party software, scheduled video playback, or another setup.
- Check that operator’s queue, source playlist, or preview after making the edit. Confirm that the newly added video is present in the playback source, not only in the YouTube playlist.
- If the item is missing, consult the stream operator’s instructions for updating or reloading its source. Do not assume a universal refresh interval or that restarting is always necessary—or never necessary.
- When practical, verify the result from the live output after the update rather than relying only on the playlist editor.
YouTube’s live-stream guidance describes live streaming as real-time interaction with a video feed and chat. Its guidance about uploading live-stream archives and organizing archives or highlight clips into playlists does not establish that an archive playlist is a 24/7 playback queue.
