Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Nakdimon is a Hebrew diacritizer hosted on Replicate. You give it Hebrew text in one string, and it returns a string with Hebrew vowel marks (nikud) added. It is not documented as a translator, transliterator, or speech-to-text system.
You can test it interactively in Replicate’s browser playground or call it from an application through Replicate’s API. The playground is the fastest way to inspect a few passages; the API is the practical route for repeatable processing. Replicate currently lists an approximate cost of $0.00010 per run and says predictions typically finish within one second, but both figures can vary with the input.

What the Nakdimon model does
Elazarg’s nakdimon listing on Replicate describes the model as “A simple Hebrew Diacritizer.” Diacritization means adding written marks that indicate pronunciation, including Hebrew vowel signs and related marks. Modern Hebrew is often written without these marks, while dictionaries, learning materials, liturgical text, poetry, and some editorial projects may need them.

What it is not
- It is not documented as a Hebrew-to-English or English-to-Hebrew translator.
- It is not documented as a transcription or transliteration service.
- It is not presented as a general Hebrew grammar checker or a complete text-editing system.
- It is not accompanied by a published accuracy score, architecture explanation, or systematic catalog of failure cases.
Those boundaries matter when you design a workflow. If your task is to add nikud to Hebrew passages, Nakdimon is relevant. If you need translation, Latin-letter transliteration, grammatical analysis, or guaranteed scholarly correctness, you need additional tools or human review.
Input and output at a glance

For a first test, supply a short Hebrew sentence rather than an entire book. A compact input makes it easier to see whether the returned marks fit your editorial context and to isolate any passage that needs manual correction.
How to add Hebrew vowels in the browser playground
The browser route requires no application code. It is suited to a one-off passage, a demonstration, or a quick quality check.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Open the live elazarg/nakdimon model page on Replicate.
- Locate the playground’s Hebrew text input. The model schema labels the field
inputand describes it as text in Hebrew. - Paste or type the Hebrew passage you want to diacritize. Preserve the characters and punctuation you want the model to process.
- Choose Run.
- Read the returned string and compare it with the source passage. Copy the result only after checking that punctuation, spacing, and any marks you need are present.
The playground is valuable because it gives immediate visual feedback without first building an integration. It also lets you try several short passages with different vocabulary or sentence structures before deciding whether an automated workflow is appropriate.
When the playground is the better choice
- You are evaluating Nakdimon for the first time.
- You have a small number of passages and do not need a repeatable script.
- You want to inspect output manually before spending time on integration.
- You are comparing how the model handles particular words or editorial styles.
How to use Nakdimon through the Replicate API
An API integration is appropriate when your application, script, or editorial pipeline needs repeatable calls. Replicate’s API reference describes a prediction request as containing an input object plus a model or version identifier.

1. Create and protect an API token
API requests require authentication. Replicate recommends storing the token in the REPLICATE_API_TOKEN environment variable instead of putting the secret directly in source code.
export REPLICATE_API_TOKEN="your_token_here"
Set the variable in the environment where your program runs, such as your local shell or a protected deployment secret. Do not commit the token to a repository, paste it into client-side code, or print it in logs. If a token is exposed, revoke it and create a replacement through your Replicate account.

The generated API example for Nakdimon uses this full version identifier:
93a920e780275eaaa231901268cf40197493f1cc0186e87ca496e8b17b5c519e
Use the live model page when choosing a version. Hosted versions can change, so an identifier shown in an older code sample may not be the version currently recommended on the listing. Pin a version deliberately when reproducibility matters, and update it only after checking the resulting output.
3. Build the input object
The model expects one string field named input. An illustrative request payload is:

- The Best GIFT for any occasion
- High-quality stickers for different keyboards Desktop, Laptop and Notebook
- The Hebrew Alphabet is spread onto transparent - matt sticker, with white color lettering
- Stickers are made of high-quality transparent - matt vinyl, thickness - 80mkn, typographical method. Clear transparent background makes stickers invisible, and allows existing characters to show through.
- Applying possess doesn't take more than 10-15min. English letters located underneath each sticker - will accurately indicate buttons on with you will apply corresponding stickers.
{
"input": "טקסט בעברית"
}
The Hebrew sentence in this example means “text in Hebrew”; it is only a payload illustration, not a promised output example. Your application should place the actual Hebrew passage in that field and pass the selected model or version according to the current Replicate API example.
4. Start from Replicate’s generated example
The Nakdimon page provides generated examples for JavaScript, Python, and HTTP. Select the language you use, copy the current example, and replace its sample input with your Hebrew string. Keeping the generated request structure is safer than reconstructing an endpoint or SDK call from memory, because Replicate can revise its API examples and hosted model versions.
- Choose JavaScript, Python, or HTTP on the model page.
- Copy the generated request example into your project or terminal.
- Ensure
REPLICATE_API_TOKENis available to that process. - Pass an input object whose
inputvalue is the Hebrew text to be diacritized. - Use the model or version identifier shown by the live listing.
- Read the returned prediction string and store it with the original text if you need an audit trail.
5. Check the returned string before publishing
A successful API response is not the same as an editorial approval. Compare the returned Hebrew with the source, verify that no characters were lost, and ask a knowledgeable Hebrew speaker or editor to review material where a wrong vowel changes meaning or affects religious, educational, legal, or literary use.
Browser playground or API: which route fits?
| Consideration | Browser playground | API |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Quick manual trials and small passages | Applications, scripts, and repeatable processing |
| Setup effort | Open the model page, enter Hebrew, and select Run | Create a token, configure the environment, and use a generated JavaScript, Python, or HTTP request |
| Programmatic integration | Not needed | Designed for integration |
| Token handling | You work through the hosted browser controls | Required; keep the token in REPLICATE_API_TOKEN, not in source code |
| Repeatability | Manual and convenient for spot checks | Strong fit for processing the same kind of input repeatedly |
| Version control | Follow the live model page | Choose and manage a model or version identifier in the request |
A sensible evaluation path is to start in the playground, collect representative passages, and move to the API only if the output is suitable for your workflow and you need automation.
Cost, speed, and hardware
Replicate’s current Nakdimon page publishes the following estimates:
Rank #4
- HQRP Top quality Hebrew Keyboard Stickers - Laminated Matte;
- Blue letters on a transparent background - specially for light / white / grey keyboards of Notebooks and Laptops!
- Transparent stickers allow you to keep your existing characters and add the new letters to the right lower corner of the keys;
- High Quality Adhesive material keeps labels in place until intentionally removed.
- Dimensions of a single sticker: 10 x 12 mm. HQRP Letter Stickers will help to protect your keyboard from small scratches and keep it clean and nice!
| Measure | Published estimate and qualification |
|---|---|
| Cost | Approximately $0.00010 per run; Replicate says the amount varies with input. |
| Completion time | Predictions typically complete within one second; Replicate notes that prediction time varies significantly with input. |
| Hardware | CPU is listed for the model. |
These are platform-published estimates, accessed in 2026, not an independent benchmark or a guarantee for every request. Your effective spend depends on how many runs you make and on the input-dependent charge. If you are estimating a project budget, multiply the approximate per-run figure by the number of predictions, then leave room for variation.
Accuracy and limitations you should plan for
The reviewed official listing and API documentation do not provide an accuracy benchmark, a model-architecture description, or a systematic list of failure cases. You therefore cannot use the published material to claim a success rate or to promise correct vocalization for every Hebrew spelling, genre, name, or context.
Why context still deserves review
Hebrew text can be ambiguous when written without vowel marks. A single unvocalized spelling may support more than one reading, and proper names, technical terms, quotations, poetry, and liturgical language can require editorial knowledge. Nakdimon may return a plausible vocalization that is not the one your context requires. That possibility follows from the nature of diacritization and from the absence of a published benchmark; it is not a documented model-specific error rate.
A practical review policy
- Use the model to generate a draft, not as an unquestioned authority.
- Have a knowledgeable Hebrew speaker or editor review high-stakes passages.
- Keep the unvocalized source alongside the returned string so corrections are traceable.
- Record the model version used when you need reproducible editorial work.
- Spot-check names, numbers, quotations, and words whose meaning depends strongly on vowels.
Troubleshooting common problems
The request is rejected for authentication
Confirm that the token exists in the environment used by the running process and that the variable is named exactly REPLICATE_API_TOKEN. A token set in one terminal, virtual environment, or deployment secret store is not automatically available in another. Do not solve the problem by hardcoding the secret in the program.

The model does not return the expected field
Check the payload against the live schema. Nakdimon documents one input field, input, containing Hebrew text. A differently named field or a nested structure copied from another model can produce an invalid request.

A copied example stops working
Return to the current Nakdimon page and regenerate the JavaScript, Python, or HTTP example. Then verify the model or version identifier. Hosted versions can change, and an old snippet may point to a version that is no longer the page’s current choice.
The result is slow
Replicate says Nakdimon predictions typically complete within one second but also warns that timing varies significantly with input. Treat that figure as an estimate rather than a timeout guarantee. For an application, use the current API example’s prediction-handling pattern and allow for variation instead of assuming every request has identical latency.
The returned text looks plausible but is linguistically wrong
Do not infer correctness from a successful response or from the presence of vowel marks. Compare the output with the intended context and obtain human review. The official pages do not publish a benchmark that would justify an automatic acceptance threshold.

A repeatable workflow for editors and developers
- Define the scope. Decide whether you need occasional manual vocalization or an automated pipeline.
- Assemble representative text. Include ordinary prose plus the names, quotations, specialist vocabulary, or liturgical passages that matter to your project.
- Run a browser trial. Use the playground to inspect several short passages before writing integration code.
- Evaluate with a human reviewer. Ask a knowledgeable Hebrew speaker or editor to mark corrections and identify classes of text that need special attention.
- Move to the API if justified. Create a token, expose it as
REPLICATE_API_TOKEN, and copy the current generated example for your language. - Store source and result together. Keep the original Hebrew, the diacritized string, the date, and the model/version identifier where your editorial process requires traceability.
- Review before release. Treat automated output as a draft until your quality policy says otherwise.
What Nakdimon’s documentation establishes—and what it leaves open
The documentation establishes a clear, narrow interface: one Hebrew string goes in, and a string comes out with diacritization as the intended task. It also establishes two access routes, API authentication requirements, a full version identifier in the generated example, CPU hosting, and approximate cost and timing figures.
It does not establish an accuracy percentage, a particular neural architecture, language-coverage guarantees, or a complete failure taxonomy. The model listing also has no README. Those omissions are reasons to test your own material and retain editorial review, not reasons to assume the model is unusable.
Bottom line for a first-time user
Start with the Replicate playground: paste a short Hebrew passage, select Run, and inspect the returned string. If the results fit your use case, use the API with the documented input field, a protected REPLICATE_API_TOKEN, and the current model or version identifier. Budget with Replicate’s approximate $0.00010-per-run estimate and sub-one-second typical timing, while allowing for input-dependent variation. For anything where a vowel choice matters, have a knowledgeable Hebrew reviewer approve the text before publication.
