To play music over a silent video loop on YouTube Live, use an encoder that can send the looping video and music together as one live feed. Get the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio, enter them in the encoder, check the Live Control Room preview, then start and monitor the broadcast. Use music cleared for live streaming—and for the archived replay too, if you keep one.
Before you start
- Your channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube’s getting-started requirements also set a minimum age of 16.
- Have a video file that can loop and an audio track you are permitted to use. Check whether the music rights cover live broadcasts, any archived video, monetization, and the territories where you stream.
- Choose an encoder that accepts the video and audio inputs you need and can send a live feed to YouTube. YouTube documents encoder streaming for productions that use overlays or production hardware, but does not prescribe one universal loop-and-mix procedure for every encoder.
Set up the video-and-music stream
- Choose and clear the music. You can use music you created, a track from the YouTube Audio Library, an eligible Creator Music track, or music covered by a third-party license. For third-party tracks, check the actual terms for live use and archived VOD. If the rights holder uses Content ID, ask them to add your channel to its allowlist before the stream.
- Create or select a stream in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and create or select the stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown there. The key is a credential that tells YouTube to accept the encoder’s feed; do not share it publicly.
- Configure your encoder. Set the silent video as the video input and the cleared music as the audio input. Enable looping for the video source if your encoder offers that control. Enter YouTube’s stream URL and key in the encoder’s streaming destination settings. The exact controls depend on the encoder; YouTube’s cited setup guidance does not define a universal button sequence or encoder-specific settings.
- Preview and test. Start the encoder feed and inspect the Live Control Room preview before going live. Confirm that the video repeats, the music is audible, and the audio and video levels are acceptable. Test privately or unlisted where appropriate, and respond to any warnings shown in Studio.
- Start and monitor the broadcast. When the preview is right, start the stream in the encoder and follow the Live Control Room status. Keep monitoring audio and video quality and watch for interruptions or copyright notices.
- Review the archive, if enabled. After the broadcast, check the archived video for a Content ID claim. Do not assume permission for a live broadcast automatically covers its replay.
Choose music that is actually cleared
| Music source | What to check |
|---|---|
| YouTube Audio Library | YouTube describes its library as a source of royalty-free music and sound effects and recommends it for copyright-safe choices. Check the individual track for any attribution requirement. |
| Your own music | Confirm that collaborators, performers, samples, and any other incorporated material are cleared for the intended use. |
| Creator Music | Availability depends on region, and permitted use depends on the individual track’s current terms. Do not assume a track allows livestreaming or an archived replay. |
| Paid or royalty-free third-party catalog | Read the license for live broadcasts, archived VOD, monetization, territories, and attribution. If Content ID applies, request channel allowlisting from the rights holder before going live. |
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can trigger a warning, a placeholder image, a temporary interruption, or termination if the content continues. YouTube says a stream can still be interrupted when you have a license if the channel has not been added to the rights holder’s Content ID allowlist. Archived streams may receive Content ID claims after the live broadcast ends.

Giving credit, seeing a “free” label, or using only a short excerpt does not by itself grant permission. YouTube notes that even a few seconds of unlicensed copyrighted material may create copyright issues. Fair use or fair dealing depends on the facts; YouTube says only a court can determine whether an exception applies.
Troubleshoot common problems
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Recheck the stream URL and key in the encoder against the values in the Live Control Room. If you exposed the key, reset it in Studio and update the encoder.
- The preview appears, but there is no music: Confirm that the encoder’s audio input is the intended track, that playback is active, and that the input is not muted. Check the preview before starting the public broadcast.
- The video does not repeat: Enable looping on the video source in the encoder, if available. Loop controls vary by software; YouTube’s guidance does not specify a universal setting.
- You see a copyright warning or the stream is interrupted: Stop using the track unless you can verify the necessary rights. Check whether its terms cover live streaming and the archive, then ask the rights holder about Content ID allowlisting. A license alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
- The live broadcast is clear but the replay receives a claim: Review the archived video and the license terms separately. Live-use permission should not be treated as permission for VOD unless the terms say so.
Or let it run in the cloud

Each slot streams uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price, with no re-encode or quality tiers; it includes 10 GB storage per slot, pooled across active slots. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube only. You remain responsible for having rights to the music in the uploaded video.
