To add background music to a 4K 60fps YouTube Live loop, combine the looping video and a music source in your encoder, then send both together to YouTube. Use music you made, music in the public domain, or music licensed for your live broadcast and any archived replay. YouTube can detect third-party music during a live stream, so test the complete setup before going public.
What you need to send to YouTube
Your encoder must output one live feed containing both the moving loop and its audio. Add the video as the visual source and the music as an audio source, then verify that the encoder is sending them together. The exact controls vary by encoder and version; OBS’s Help Portal is the place to check its current media-source and looping instructions.

YouTube’s encoder settings describe what you send to the service, not a guarantee that every viewer will receive a 4K60 version. YouTube transcodes live streams into viewer formats, and playback quality depends on the viewer’s device and connection.

Set the encoder for 4K at 60fps
YouTube’s current live encoder settings guide, accessed in 2026, recommends these settings for an encoder feed at 2160p (4K) and 60fps:
#1 Best Overall
- [XLR Mic Input] One XLR microphone input interface is set on the gaming audio mixer, which is great to up your audio quality with your XLR setup. The XLR mixer is a stepping stone to upgrade your live streaming. Audio mixer offered built-in 48V phantom power which opens up more choices for mics. Directly use it with your condenser microphone but do not solve added peripherals. (NOT available for USB mic)
- [Individual Channel Control] Gaming audio mixer for one mic recording with smooth volume slider fader take your streaming recording to a whole new level with full pleasure. Four independent channels set on the DJ mixer give audio volume of the MICROPHONE, LINE IN, HEADPHONE, and LINE OUT channels individual control. Configurable on the PC audio mixer instead of just operating on your game or streaming software.
- [Mute and Monitor] The front mute and monitor buttons but not at the back, make it easier to get the audio interface use. Ability to mute audio, the audio mixer for streaming prevents background noise from damaging your live broadcast. Real-time feedback between speaking and hearing will not distract your attention, which encourage you to speak more confidently. The sturdy-built control button allow you to operate freely and easily during live streaming.
- [Sound Effects] The computer sound mixer supports four pre-recorded customized button that can be recorded and activated at the press of button to post production. 6 kinds of voice changing modes change your output style. 12 auto tune changes the tone of your voice. The podcast mixer being able to add different and fun effects is a huge bonus for your streaming or game voice.
- [Controllable Vibrant RGB] RGB button on the audio mixer DJ meets different live streaming themes. Lights on the video mixer is vibrant but not harsh on your eyes. Flowing or frozen RGB color rotation in a decent pace presents a greatly strong impression as a "light show" to your audience. Even a streaming equipment accessory will not be dull looking when video production.
| Setting | YouTube guidance | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Video codec and bitrate | H.264: recommended 35 Mbps. AV1 and H.265: listed range of 10–40 Mbps. | Use a bitrate your encoder can sustain and your upload connection can reliably support. The 40 Mbps upper figure is not automatically the right choice. |
| Rate control | CBR (constant bitrate). | Choose CBR in the encoder’s output settings. |
| Frame rate | Up to 60fps. | Set 60fps only if your source and encoder can produce it consistently. |
| Keyframe interval | Recommended: 2 seconds; do not exceed 4 seconds. | Set a 2-second interval where the encoder exposes this option. |
| Audio format | AAC or MP3 over RTMP/RTMPS. Advanced recommendation: 128 Kbps stereo at 44.1 kHz. | Confirm the encoder’s audio output format, channel layout, bitrate and sample rate. |
| Transport | YouTube recommends RTMPS. | Use RTMPS if your encoder and streaming setup offer it. |
These are YouTube’s ingestion recommendations, not a promise of a particular playback rendition. If your connection cannot sustain the selected video bitrate, reduce the setting rather than sending an unstable feed.
Add and check the video loop and music
- Prepare the loop. Choose the video file you intend to play and confirm it is the intended 4K, 60fps source. In your encoder, add it as the visual or media source and enable its looping control.
- Add the music source. Add music you own or have permission to use as an audio source. Set its level so it is audible without clipping, and check that the encoder’s audio meter responds during playback.
- Connect the encoder to YouTube Live. Use the stream key and server details from your YouTube Live setup in the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the stream key as a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to stream to your channel.
- Set the output. Select the resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, CBR, keyframe interval and audio settings described above, using values your equipment and connection can sustain.
- Run a test before the public broadcast. Send a test that includes both moving video and music. Confirm the loop behaves as intended, the music is audible at a suitable level, YouTube reports the target resolution and frame rate, and the connection remains stable at the chosen bitrate.
- Monitor stream health. Watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators during the test and broadcast. If they report a problem, check the connection and encoder output before continuing.
Choose music with the right permissions
Use music you created, public-domain music, or a track whose rights holder has permitted your intended use. YouTube describes copyright-safe music as public-domain music or music used with permission, and recommends its Audio Library, which offers royalty-free music and sound effects. YouTube also notes alternatives such as original music, Creator Music in certain regions, and third-party music sites. Check the individual track’s terms rather than relying on a “free” label or a credit in the description.

- Analog mixing and equalization for pure sound
- Direct mixing of PC/gaming sounds into the streaming output
- Ultra-low noise analog mixer for streaming, podcasting and recording
- Stereo USB audio interface to connect your computer or mobile device
Before using a track, confirm that its license covers each relevant use:
- Live streaming, not only offline or personal listening.
- An archived video-on-demand (VOD) replay, if you keep the stream archive.
- Monetization, if you plan to monetize the stream or its replay.
- The territories where viewers may watch.
- Any required attribution or restrictions.
- Content ID allowlisting for your channel, if required by the rights holder.
YouTube says Content ID does not establish that you bought rights elsewhere or infer permission from a credit in a video description. A license also does not necessarily stop an automated live interruption. YouTube advises creators who licensed third-party material to ask the rights owner to add their channel to its Content ID allowlist. If the broadcast is archived, YouTube says Content ID claims are made after the live stream ends.

YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams states: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” YouTube may show a warning and replace the stream with a placeholder image; if the material continues, it may temporarily interrupt or terminate the broadcast.
YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions say the content provider represents that it has all necessary rights for the live content worldwide, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Confirm territorial and use rights with the music provider before broadcasting.

Troubleshoot common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Music is missing from the live feed. | The encoder is not capturing the music source, or its audio output is not routed to the stream. | Check that the music source is active, the audio meter moves during playback and the encoder’s stream output includes audio. Run another test with both sources. |
| The loop is static or stops instead of repeating. | The media source is not playing or its loop option is disabled. | Check the source’s playback and looping controls in the current encoder documentation, then test through a full pass of the file. |
| YouTube reports unstable stream health. | The encoder or upload connection may not sustain the selected bitrate. | Check stream health and connection stability. Lower the bitrate to a sustainable value and retest; do not assume the highest listed rate is best. |
| The stream is interrupted or replaced by a placeholder image. | YouTube may have matched third-party content during its live scan. | Review the warning and the track’s rights. If you have a license, contact the rights holder about allowlisting your channel; do not assume a license alone prevents interruption. |
| The archived stream receives a Content ID claim. | YouTube says claims on an archived live stream are made after the live broadcast ends. | Check that your permissions cover the archive as well as live use, then follow YouTube’s claim process and the rights holder’s terms. |
