The playlist supplies music; it does not make a computer-based stream unattended or guarantee a complete 24-hour YouTube archive. Before going live, confirm the music rights cover your use and set audio monitoring to avoid a feedback loop.
Add a Music Playlist in PRISM Live Studio desktop
- Open Sources and click the + button.
- Choose Music Playlist and confirm.
- Open Add and Edit, or select the Music icon in the sidebar.
- Add tracks from PRISM’s supplied catalog or select local music files on your computer. For catalog tracks, choose a genre, preview a track with the headphone icon, select a duration option if one is offered, and click + to add it.
- Drag tracks into the order you want, then click OK.
- In the source properties, choose whether to display track title and artist information on screen. Hiding the display does not stop playback.

Choose music that is cleared for your stream
PRISM’s supplied catalog
PRISM says its supplied free music is directly contracted or licensed with musicians for broadcasting and recording, and that these tracks cannot be downloaded; they can be used only through streaming in PRISM. Treat that as guidance for use within PRISM, not as a blanket guarantee for every territory, monetization arrangement, platform, or use outside the app. Check PRISM’s current terms for your situation. Local files and other music providers
For music from your own files or another service, make sure you have rights for the intended YouTube live use, including any archived playback. YouTube’s live-stream terms require creators to represent that they have necessary rights, including music licensing rights. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; an unresolved match can interrupt or terminate a stream. Even if you hold a license, YouTube says interruption may still occur unless the rights holder has added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube describes copyright-safe music as public-domain music or music used with the copyright owner’s permission. It recommends the YouTube Audio Library and also notes Creator Music in certain regions, alongside third-party royalty-free or paid libraries. Check each track’s license for continuous live use and an archived stream: “free,” “royalty-free,” or an attribution request alone does not establish those permissions, and a track labeled free can still receive a Content ID claim. Prevent music echo and audio feedback
PRISM warns that setting the audio monitoring device to Default Device can make music loop on the broadcast viewing screen. Its documented remedies are:

- Turn monitoring off: Disable the audio mixer’s monitoring function during the live stream. The trade-off is that you may not be able to hear the music yourself.
- Monitor through separate headphones or earphones: Open Settings > Audio > Advanced and select a monitoring device other than Default. This lets you listen while avoiding the documented default-device loop condition, but requires a separate device and setting.
Use the audio mixer to adjust or mute individual sources. PRISM’s FAQ describes music/game audio in the green zone, microphone in the yellow zone, and transmitted sound out of the red zone as visual level guidance in its interface; this is not a universal loudness standard. Understand the limits of a 24/7 YouTube stream
A playlist can provide background music while a live feed runs, but it does not by itself keep the broadcast running through computer, power, network, or platform interruptions. PRISM’s documented playlist setup is not a guarantee of unattended, uninterrupted 24/7 operation.

Also plan for YouTube’s archive and DVR limits. YouTube Help says it can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. DVR rewind can also be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. Fix common playlist and audio problems
- Music is not audible in the broadcast: Check that the Music Playlist source is present and that its mixer level is not muted. Previewing a track in the editing interface is separate from confirming the source’s broadcast audio.
- The music echoes or repeats in the live viewing screen: If monitoring is set to Default Device, turn monitoring off or use separate headphones/earphones and choose a non-default device under Settings > Audio > Advanced.
- You cannot hear the music after disabling monitoring: This is the trade-off PRISM notes for turning monitoring off. Use separate headphones or earphones with a non-default monitoring device if you need to listen.
- YouTube interrupts or ends the broadcast after a music match: Check that the track’s license covers YouTube live streaming and the intended archive, and confirm with the rights holder whether your channel needs Content ID allowlisting. A license alone may not prevent interruption.
- The stream ends, loses connection, or its archive is incomplete: Playlist setup does not address continuity or YouTube’s long-stream archive limits. Treat those as separate operational issues, and keep a local recording if you need a backup archive.
