What an event list does
An event list keeps a visible record of recent stream interactions, such as follows, tips, subscriptions, or hosts. Unlike a pop-up alert, which appears when an event happens, the list remains on screen to show recent activity. The available event types depend on the provider and the connected platform.

Add an event list in Streamlabs Desktop

Open Streamlabs Desktop, open the scene where the list should appear, and add a new source.

Choose the Event List widget and add it to the scene.

Open the Streamlabs Event List dashboard to customize the widget.

Set the theme, color, included event types, animation, number of visible events, background, text color, font, font size, and animation speed to suit your layout.

Return to the scene and check the list’s size and position before going live.

Add an event list in OBS Studio with Streamlabs

Sign in to the Streamlabs dashboard and select All Widgets.

Choose Event List and copy its Widget URL.

In OBS Studio, select + in the Sources panel and choose Browser.

Paste the Widget URL into the Browser source properties and save.

Check the source in your scene and adjust its size and position as needed.
Keep the Widget URL private: overlay URLs can contain sensitive tokens. Streamlabs’ guide documents this OBS route; OBS Project’s general guide also describes Browser sources as a way to add provider-hosted stream elements without a plugin.

In the StreamElements dashboard or overlay editor, copy the overlay URL.

In OBS Studio, open Sources, select +, and choose Browser.

Create the Browser source and paste the overlay URL into its properties.

Set the source width and height to match your stream layout. StreamElements’ guide gives 1920 × 1080 as the default unless the Browser source resolution has been changed.

Choose 30 or 60 FPS according to your stream settings and computer capability, then save.

Position and size the source in your OBS scene. If the overlay contains widgets you do not want, edit the overlay itself.

StreamElements documents overlays rendered through a Browser source, including the URL setup and resolution guidance in its OBS overlay guide (updated July 18, 2026). Its overlay URL may contain a sensitive token, so do not share it publicly. An overlay can include more than the event list: event data may also feed labels such as recent subscriber or follower, goals, chat widgets, and alerts.
Choose the route that matches your setup

Use the workflow for the software and provider already in your setup. OBS Project’s guide to stream alerts and Browser sources describes the provider-neutral approach and notes that StreamElements can combine widgets such as alerts and chat in one overlay. It also defines an Events List as “a listing of the last few most recent events.” The OBS guide was published May 23, 2021, so use it for general mechanics rather than current vendor interface labels.

Confirm the provider is connected to the YouTube account you intend to stream from.

Preview the source in the scene and check that its position, size, and text are visible in your layout.

If the provider offers preview or test tools in its current interface, use them to check that the widget displays as expected. This is a practical check; the provider guides do not establish a universal YouTube visibility rule or a complete procedure for missing event data.

If you use StreamElements alert variations, review their conditions and settings: conflicting variations can prevent an alert from playing as intended.

Keep provider overlay URLs private because they may contain sensitive tokens.
Troubleshoot common event-list problems
The Browser source is blank or missing
Check that you pasted the provider’s complete, current URL into the Browser source and saved its properties. Verify that the source is enabled in the active scene, then preview the scene again. If the URL was exposed publicly, treat it as sensitive and consult the provider’s current guidance for managing it.

Check the Browser source width and height against your stream layout, then reposition or resize it in the scene. In StreamElements, also check that the overlay’s own dimensions and widgets fit the intended layout.
Events do not appear
Confirm the overlay provider is connected to the intended YouTube account and that the event types you want are enabled in the provider’s settings. Use the provider’s preview or test tools if available. The cited setup guides do not establish that every provider supports the same YouTube events, so check the provider’s current event options.
An alert variation does not play as expected
For StreamElements variations, inspect their conditions and settings for conflicts. The provider warns that incorrect alert variations can interfere with playback.
