If you specifically want to use the Samsung Email app, install it from Galaxy Store or Google Play if it is missing, open it, select your provider, and sign in there. Both routes take a few minutes for common providers. Less common providers usually need server details from the provider itself.
Before you start
- A working internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data).
- Your full email address and password, and access to any approval method your provider uses for new sign-ins.
- For a provider that is not listed in Samsung Email, the incoming and outgoing server settings published by that provider.
- Enough free time to finish sign-in in one sitting; some providers send a confirmation to another device or app.
Option 1: Add the account in device settings
Adding an account at device level makes it available to the apps that use it. For a Google account, this is also how Gmail gets access to the mail.

- Open Settings.
- Tap Accounts and backup.
- Tap Manage accounts.
- Tap Add account.
- Select your provider, for example Google.
- Enter your address and password, then complete any approval step the provider requests.
Expect the labels to differ slightly on your model. Samsung notes that menu names and screen layouts depend on the wireless carrier, software version, and phone model, so treat the path above as the usual route rather than a fixed guarantee.

Option 2: Add the account inside Samsung Email
Use this route if you want Samsung’s own mail app to handle the account, or if your provider appears in its list.

Install Samsung Email if it is missing
Samsung Email is not guaranteed to be present on every Galaxy device, so check your app drawer first. If it is absent, install it from Galaxy Store or Google Play, then open it. You can also choose the app published by your own email provider if you prefer that.
Automatic setup for Google, Yahoo, and Outlook
Samsung states that Google, Yahoo, and Outlook accounts can generally be configured automatically in Samsung Email. Select the provider, enter your address, and sign in. The sign-in flow is not identical for every provider and account. Some require an extra approval or access step, so an address and password alone may not be enough.

Manual setup for other providers
- Open Samsung Email and select Other.
- Choose Manual setup.
- Select the account type. Samsung recommends IMAP if you will read this mail on more than one device.
- Enter the incoming and outgoing server settings from your provider, along with your username and password.
Samsung’s instructions do not publish universal server addresses, ports, or security settings, because these differ by provider. Take them from your provider’s help pages or support team.

Why Samsung recommends IMAP for several devices
IMAP keeps messages on the mail server, so reading, moving, or deleting a message on your phone is reflected on your laptop or tablet. Where the account is only used on one phone, your provider’s other options may also work. Samsung’s recommendation is specifically for accounts used across several devices.

If setup fails
- Re-check the password and address for typos. Confirm you are signing into the correct provider.
- Look for a pending approval prompt on another device or in your provider’s account page, and complete it.
- For manual setup, confirm the incoming and outgoing server details exactly as your provider lists them.
- If Samsung Email is missing, install it from Galaxy Store or Google Play before retrying.
- If the provider’s server details or authentication requirements still block you, contact the provider, since Samsung’s setup guidance does not supply provider-specific fixes.
Regional and device limits
Samsung’s US support article Add accounts to your Galaxy phone or tablet covers adding a Google account and an email account through Settings, along with installing Samsung Email or a provider app. Samsung Colombia’s guide Cómo configurar y usar Samsung Email en tu celular Galaxy, updated 24 September 2026, covers automatic setup, manual server settings, IMAP, and adding accounts inside Samsung Email. That Colombian guide applies to products purchased in Colombia. Screens and options can vary by carrier, software version, and model, so if your menus look different, the same steps usually apply under slightly different labels.
