Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchImport the silent video and AAC audio track into a video editor, align the audio with the picture, then export and check the combined video before uploading it in YouTube Studio. For a typical MP4 export, YouTube recommends AAC-LC audio at 48 kHz with H.264 video. “YouTube streaming” can mean either uploading a prepared video for playback or broadcasting live; the steps below cover the prepared-file workflow, not a live encoder setup.
Before you start: check the track and usage rights
- Confirm that the AAC file is the audio you intend to use and that you have the rights or permission to publish it. AAC is an encoding format, not a license.
- Have both files available on the device where you will edit. Choose software that can import your video and AAC audio, place audio on a timeline, and export a video file.
- If the video already has an audio stream that you want to keep, decide whether to replace it or mix it with the new track. Check the export settings so you do not accidentally retain unwanted audio or mute the new track.
YouTube says to edit audio and video tracks in video-editing software before uploading. It does not endorse a particular editor in the guidance cited here. For a simple combination, a media utility may be enough; a timeline editor is more useful when you need to adjust timing, trim sound, or clean up a mix.

Add the AAC track and export a video
- Import both files. Create a project and place the silent video on the video track and the AAC file on an audio track. If the editor cannot import the AAC file, use a different editor or convert the audio to a format it accepts before continuing.
- Align the start. Move the audio so its intended first sound matches the corresponding moment in the picture. Trim leading silence or extend the video only if that reflects the intended result.
- Match the durations. Compare the video and audio endpoints, then trim or adjust the tracks so they finish together. YouTube warns that tracks with different durations may not synchronize correctly. Preview the beginning, middle, and end to catch a misplaced start, drift, unexpected silence, or clipping.
- Choose export settings. For a conventional MP4 upload, YouTube’s general recommended configuration includes H.264 video and AAC-LC audio at 48 kHz. Preserve the source frame rate where possible; YouTube recommends uploading at the frame rate used to record the content. These are recommendations, not universal acceptance requirements: YouTube supports additional file formats and codecs.
- Export and inspect the result. Play the exported file locally from beginning to end, confirm it has audible sound and that picture and sound remain synchronized. If possible, also check playback on a phone, where mono compatibility can matter.
YouTube’s general upload encoding guidance also lists stereo, stereo plus 5.1, or stereo plus Eclipsa Audio channel options. On that page, the recommended audio bitrates are 384 kbps for stereo and 512 kbps for 5.1; these are upload recommendations, not minimum requirements. YouTube’s audio troubleshooting guidance lists AAC-LC at 128–256 kbps and 44.1 or 48 kHz. Use an appropriate export preset rather than treating any one bitrate as a guarantee of better results.

Upload the finished file in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio’s video upload flow and choose the exported video file.
- Complete the video details and audience settings, then proceed through the upload and publishing steps shown in Studio.
- After processing, check the video on YouTube. YouTube converts uploaded videos for playback at the highest available resolution, so the quality available immediately may differ while processing is underway.
Do not upload the AAC file alone expecting it to become a normal YouTube video. YouTube says audio files cannot be uploaded to create a video; this case requires combining the audio with the existing picture first. See YouTube’s supported file formats.

Fix common audio problems
| What you notice | What to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The uploaded video has no sound | Whether the exported file itself has an audio stream and plays with sound; the selected export preset and track mute settings. | Return to the editor, make sure the AAC track is enabled, export again, and verify the new file locally before re-uploading. |
| Audio starts late, ends early, or drifts | The audio and video start positions and total durations. | Realign the track and make the audio and video durations match, then preview the start, middle, and end before exporting. |
| Audio sounds weak or disappears on a phone | Whether the stereo mix remains compatible when converted to mono. YouTube notes that poor mono compatibility can reduce quality or mute audio on a one-speaker phone. | Review the mix’s mono compatibility and phase in your editor, correct the issue, and export and test again. |
| You are configuring a live broadcast rather than uploading a finished file | Whether the goal is a prepared video upload or a live encoder feed. | Use YouTube’s separate live encoder settings guidance for a broadcast. The MP4 upload recommendations above do not replace live-stream encoder and protocol settings. |
Or let it run in the cloud
This does not add AAC to a silent file: first create and check the finished video using the steps above. If your next goal is to keep a YouTube channel live with uploaded videos, StreamNeo is a cloud service that loops uploaded videos or playlists, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. Upload the prepared video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It streams to YouTube only.
