For a loyalty card, open Google Wallet and tap Add to Google Wallet. For a ticket or boarding pass, open it in the issuer’s app, website, or email and use Add to Google Wallet if that option is offered. You can also save some passes from Gmail or create certain passes from a photo or barcode image. Which methods work depends on the pass, its issuer, your location, and—in the screenshot boarding-pass method—your phone.
Choose the method that matches where your pass is

Add a loyalty card from Google Wallet
- Open the Google Wallet app.
- Tap Add to Google Wallet.
- Choose the loyalty-card option, then follow the prompts shown in Wallet.
- Review the information and save the card.
Google’s Wallet add flow also supports gift cards. The available prompts depend on the item type, so use the choices Wallet presents rather than assuming every card can be entered the same way.

Add an airline or event ticket from its issuer
- Open the airline, event, or other participating provider’s app or website and find the ticket or boarding pass.
- Look for Add to Google Wallet on the pass or in its available actions.
- Tap the option, accept the terms if prompted, and complete any identity verification the issuer requests.
- Open Google Wallet to check that the pass was saved.
The add button is controlled by the issuer; Google Wallet cannot make an unsupported pass eligible. If you cannot find the button, check the provider’s app, website, and email containing the pass. Google’s guidance is explicit: “Tickets, passes, and IDs that are supported in Google Wallet will depend on the issuer and your location.” See Google Wallet Help: Where to find more info about items.

Let Wallet save eligible passes from Gmail
Google says some passes can be saved automatically from Gmail when Gmail smart features and Wallet’s Auto save passes setting are enabled. Its examples include loyalty cards, event tickets, train tickets, and boarding passes. This is an optional route, not a guarantee that every message or pass will be imported.

- Make sure Gmail smart features are enabled.
- In Google Wallet, turn on Auto save passes.
- Check Wallet for the pass after it arrives in Gmail.
If the pass does not appear, use the issuer’s add-to-Wallet option if one is available. Automatic saving depends on the pass being supported and the required settings being on.
Create a pass from a photo or barcode
Wallet can create some passes from a photo or barcode image. In Wallet, select Add to Wallet, choose the photo option, and review the pass Wallet creates before saving it. This can be useful when the pass is represented by an image rather than a provider’s direct Wallet integration, but it is not equivalent to an issuer-connected pass: Google warns that downloaded-pass conversion can have limited functionality or lack updates.

Save a boarding pass from a screenshot on a Pixel
Google documents a screenshot-based boarding-pass flow for Pixel phones version 3 and up. Adding the screenshot pass requires Wallet to be installed and an internet connection. Once it has been saved, Google says the pass can be accessed offline. This eligibility is specific to the documented Pixel screenshot method; it does not mean every phone can convert a boarding-pass screenshot.

If the pass will not add
- No Wallet button: Check the issuer’s app, website, or email for the pass. Support varies by issuer and location, so the absence of a button may mean that pass is not offered for Wallet.
- Save error that appears to concern the pass: Contact the issuer. The issuer controls the pass and its Wallet availability.
- Imported pass lacks a feature or update: A photo- or download-converted pass may not have the functionality or update connection of a pass saved through the issuer. Check the issuer’s app or website for the current pass.
- Pass missing on a replacement phone: Sign in to the same Google Account. Google says loyalty and gift cards, event tickets, and boarding passes connected to that account can appear after sign-in. Other passes may be device-specific and need a supported transfer method or to be added again.
What to check before relying on a saved pass
- Confirm that the pass appears in Google Wallet after adding it.
- For a converted photo or downloaded pass, check whether its information is current; it may not receive updates.
- If the issuer offers a Wallet button, prefer that route for a ticket or boarding pass over treating a screenshot or image conversion as a full replacement.
- For a new phone, verify the pass is present after signing in rather than assuming all passes transfer automatically.
