Add a subscribe reminder by placing text or an image in your encoder’s live scene, such as an OBS scene. It will remain visible for as long as that scene is on air. This is different from an alert that appears only when someone subscribes: an event-triggered alert needs a service that supports that YouTube event.
Choose the kind of reminder you want

OBS does not directly provide stream alerts. Its guidance describes embedding third-party alert overlays with a Browser Source, but does not establish that any particular provider supports YouTube subscriber events. Check the provider’s current YouTube integration and instructions before relying on it. OBS Project’s alert guidance
Add a static reminder in OBS
- Prepare the message. Keep it short and readable, for example, “Enjoying the stream? Subscribe.” You can use text or make a graphic containing the reminder.
- Open the scene used for the broadcast. In OBS, select the scene that is sent to the stream. Add the reminder to that scene so it appears in the live output.
- Add a source. For text, add a text source and enter the message. For a prepared graphic, add an image source and select the file. To embed an alert overlay supplied by a third party, add a Browser Source and follow that provider’s setup instructions.
- Position and size it. Place the reminder where it does not obscure important video content. Preview the output at the resolution and aspect ratio you plan to stream, and confirm that the text remains legible.
- Check the live scene before leaving it unattended. Confirm the reminder appears in the output—not just in the OBS preview—and that the intended scene remains selected.
YouTube lists encoders among its live-streaming methods and notes that encoders can be used for streams with overlays. The steps above apply to an encoder workflow; YouTube also lists mobile, webcam, and console methods, whose overlay controls may differ. YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming
Keep the reminder clear and compliant
- Use a concise prompt and avoid placing it over the main subject or other important information.
- If you use YouTube’s official Subscribe Button, follow its conditions: do not offer or promote prizes or rewards in exchange for clicking it, keep the button fully and clearly visible, and do not track user data related to actions on the button. These requirements concern use of the official button and its branding; they are not a blanket prohibition on ordinary on-screen text prompts. - Do not assume that a static prompt proves a subscription occurred or measures whether it led to a subscription.

- It is visible in OBS but not in the broadcast: confirm you added the source to the scene actually being streamed, then inspect the live output rather than relying only on the preview.
- The reminder covers the content: reposition or resize the source and preview the full output again.
- A Browser Source alert stays blank: check the alert provider’s current setup instructions and YouTube event support. OBS documents Browser Source embedding, but that alone does not confirm a provider’s subscriber-triggered functionality.
- The reminder is visible only sometimes: check whether it is in every scene used during the stream. A source added to one scene will not automatically appear in another scene.
