To keep an album cover on screen while Indian music plays live on YouTube, make a video feed that combines the still artwork with the audio, then send that feed to YouTube through an encoder. YouTube accepts encoder software and standalone hardware; the cover-image composition is part of your production setup, not a special YouTube setting. Before you schedule a continuous stream, confirm livestream access and secure the rights to both the music and artwork.
What you need
- A YouTube channel with livestreaming enabled.
- Music you are authorized to broadcast live, plus permission to use the album artwork in the stream.
- An encoder that can send a video feed with the cover image and music audio. YouTube supports encoder software and standalone hardware; it does not prescribe a specific model or minimum computer specification for this still-image workflow.
- A reliable way to keep the encoder or streaming service running for the duration of the broadcast.
YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming. A static cover still needs to be part of a video output: the encoder sends that output along with the audio. The YouTube documentation does not specify a required cover-art dimension or a particular method for combining the image and music, so use the image and audio controls provided by your chosen encoder.

Check channel access and rights first
Verify that the channel can livestream
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. If you are enabling livestreaming for the first time, activation can take up to 24 hours. Check the channel’s access in YouTube Studio before planning a launch.

YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the provider to have all necessary rights for live content on Google services worldwide, including music rights involving artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Make sure the permissions cover the intended live broadcast, territories and any archived copy. Music permission does not automatically grant permission to display album artwork; clear each separately.

YouTube says music is safe to use when it is in the public domain or you have permission from the copyright owner. Calling a track “free” does not by itself prevent a Content ID flag. For music licensed from a third party, ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube warns that even a licensed stream may be interrupted if the channel has not been allowlisted.
Set up the static-cover stream
- Prepare the assets. Select the authorized cover image and music files. Confirm that you have permission for both and that the music license covers livestreaming and the planned archive, if you intend to keep one.
- Build the video output in your encoder. Add the cover image as the visible video and the music as the audio. The image should remain visible while the tracks play. Exact image dimensions and composition controls depend on the encoder; YouTube’s cited setup guidance does not set them.
- Choose software or hardware encoding. YouTube supports encoder software and standalone hardware. Hardware is optional, and no specific device is required for a still-cover stream. Choose based on your production needs and how you will keep the stream operating continuously.
- Create or schedule the event in YouTube Studio. Set up an encoder stream, then open its stream settings and copy the stream URL and stream key into the corresponding streaming settings in your encoder. The key is a credential that lets YouTube identify and accept the incoming feed. Keep it private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Check the preview before going live. Confirm the cover is visible, music is audible, and the event is accessible. Preview and monitor the encoder stream in YouTube Studio before and after starting it.
- Monitor the live event. Keep an eye on YouTube Studio for warnings, interruptions or other changes to the stream. A 24/7 schedule needs an encoder or service that stays running; the setup guidance does not establish a particular uptime configuration or recovery method.
Copyright and continuous-stream risks
YouTube scans all live streams for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted material. If it detects a match, YouTube may replace the stream with a placeholder image, interrupt it temporarily or terminate it if the issue remains. An archived live stream may also receive a Content ID claim after the broadcast ends, so an uninterrupted live session does not guarantee that the archive is claim-free.

Live Content ID matching is a specialized feature for qualifying Content Manager partners, not a setting most creators can enable. Its rules require worldwide rights and exclusive ownership, and the matched stream cannot include third-party content such as static images or background music. For a typical music channel, focus on securing the necessary permissions and resolving any claims with the rights owner.

You can operate an encoder on a computer or use a suitable service that runs the stream for you. A local setup depends on that machine and its internet connection remaining available. For a continuous schedule, decide how you will monitor the feed and restore it if the encoder or connection stops. YouTube’s encoder guide also names Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos; that mention does not establish its suitability for licensed Indian music or its current availability.

The cover is missing or the music is silent
Check the encoder’s preview: confirm the image is assigned as the video and the intended music source is assigned as audio. Verify that both are present before starting the public stream.
YouTube interrupts or replaces the stream
Review YouTube Studio for copyright notices. A license alone may not prevent an interruption if the rights owner has not allowlisted the channel. Contact the rights owner to resolve the claim or allowlist the channel, and confirm that your license covers the live use and relevant territories.
The live stream ran, but the archive is claimed
Claims can arrive after a live stream ends. Review the archive notice and your permissions, including whether they cover the archived copy; address the claim with the relevant rights owner.
