Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteAdd the jingle as a prerecorded item in the playlist that feeds your stream, placing it between the two songs: song → jingle → song. In an OBS setup, the surfaced workflow uses a VLC Video playlist source; confirm the source name and controls in your installed OBS version, since the workflow guidance is secondary and interfaces can change.
Prepare the jingle and confirm your rights
- Choose a prerecorded audio or video file suitable for the playback source in your streaming setup. Listen to it locally and check that its level is reasonable beside the songs before putting it on air.
- Confirm you have permission to broadcast the jingle and every song. Check that the permission covers livestreaming and, if you keep an archive, the archived video too. YouTube’s Livestream terms and conditions say creators must have the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants.
Insert the jingle into the playlist
- Open the playlist or media-source configuration in the software that plays items into your stream.
- If you are using the OBS/VLC playlist workflow, open the VLC Video playlist source configuration and add the jingle file between the intended song files. The sequence should be song → jingle → song. The workflow detail comes from secondary tutorial guidance; verify the current source name and behavior in your OBS version.
- Check the item order, repeat behavior and playlist advancement. Do not assume YouTube Studio has an insertion control for the encoder’s playlist: make the change in the playback configuration that supplies the stream.
Preview the outgoing stream before leaving it unattended
- Use YouTube’s Live Control Room preview to check the actual outgoing feed. Confirm the jingle is audible, the next song follows it, and YouTube reports no ingestion or playback issue.
- Let the playlist advance through the relevant transition and confirm its repeat behavior is what you intend. The OBS-to-Live-Control-Room walkthrough surfaced for this workflow was last updated in 2021, so labels and behavior may differ in current versions.
- Before relying on a 24/7 setup, check that the playback source, computer and network will remain available, and decide how you will monitor and recover the feed if something stops. These are operational checks, not a guarantee of uninterrupted uptime.
Account for YouTube’s live copyright checks
YouTube says livestreams are scanned for third-party content, and an identified match can cause interruption or termination if it remains. YouTube Help states: “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” See Copyright issues with live streams.

Having a license does not necessarily prevent a live interruption: YouTube says a rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Confirm that the applicable rights holder has done so when required, and check the license scope for both the live broadcast and any archive.
