To show the current song on a 24/7 Hindi music stream, add a ticker as an overlay in the software producing the live video. The ticker is part of the outgoing picture; changing the YouTube broadcast title or description does not make a changing label appear on screen. For an OBS-based setup, the OBS Project forum lists a “Music on stream” extension that supports YouTube and YouTube Music and can use YouTube chapters or a playlist in the video description as title inputs. Confirm its current setup instructions and test it with your exact playback source before relying on it continuously.
What a now-playing ticker does—and where it belongs
A ticker is a graphic layer composed over the stream video, typically showing a song title and artist. It is separate from the broadcast title, description, and other YouTube metadata. YouTube’s Live Streaming API documents broadcast metadata and management; it does not automatically identify the song in the audio and paint its details into the video. That distinction matters for a Hindi music channel: viewers will see the ticker only if the text is rendered into the live picture by the production setup. A description can still help identify the playlist, but it is not a visual ticker.

Choose a song-label source that matches your playback
Before configuring an overlay, establish how the stream plays music and where reliable song names and artists come from. A ticker can display accurate metadata only if its input matches the music source and the running order.

Add the ticker to an OBS-based stream
The OBS forum listing for Music on stream records a first release on April 12, 2024, and a last update on September 18, 2025. It describes support for YouTube and YouTube Music, an overlay, chapter or description-playlist inputs, hiding the overlay when music is paused, and scrolling long titles. The listing does not provide every installation step, so use the extension’s current linked setup guide rather than relying on outdated or assumed menu names. For any route, check whether it supports your actual audio player, whether song data is automatic or manually maintained, how it renders long Devanagari text, how it behaves through restarts, and whether its data source complies with platform policies. Troubleshoot common ticker problems
- No ticker appears: Confirm that the overlay resource was added to the scene that is actually live, and follow the current extension guide to check its configuration and browser layer.
- The title is missing or wrong: Check that the configured input matches the music source. If you use chapters or a description playlist, inspect the current entries and ordering.
- Hindi characters appear as boxes or are hard to read: Try a font with Devanagari support, increase the text size or contrast, and test the longest title in the actual stream layout.
- The label does not change at the next track: Check whether the source exposes updated metadata and whether the playlist or chapter markers reflect the current sequence. A ticker cannot correct stale input data.
- The ticker remains during a pause or between songs: Check the extension’s current instructions for pause or empty-state behavior. The forum listing describes hiding the overlay when music is paused, but your setup needs to be tested.
- The ticker stops after a restart: Reopen the source and browser layer, then test whether the overlay reconnects and resumes reading metadata. Do this before depending on an unattended 24/7 scene.
