Put both above your background in the Sources list. For titles that change, either edit the text manually or have OBS read it from a file that you keep updated. OBS does not automatically identify the song playing in every player or playlist.
Build a scene with a logo and song title
- Create or select a scene. Add the visual background first so it is easy to place the other elements over it.
- Add the logo. In Sources, select + and choose Image. Select your logo file. If you want the artwork to sit cleanly over the background, use an image with a transparent background.
- Add the title. Select + and add a Text source. Type a title, or configure the source to read text from a file if you plan to update titles that way.
- Position and size both sources. Use the scene preview to move and resize the logo and title. Choose text that is legible against the background, and leave a margin from the edges so the elements are not crowded.
- Check layer order. In the Sources list, move the logo and title above the background. Sources higher in the list appear in front of lower sources.

Choose how song titles update

Manual titles
For a stream that someone is actively operating, type the current title into the Text source. Update it whenever playback changes. This is the least complex option, but the displayed title can become wrong if the operator misses a change.
File-backed titles
In the Text source properties, enable Read from file and select the text file. When the track changes, update the file’s contents. The title will only stay accurate if the file is kept in sync with the item actually playing.

Custom browser overlays
A Browser Source embeds a web page in the OBS scene. It can render a custom title layout, but the page still needs a data source or integration that correctly provides the current track. The OBS Browser Source guide documents the source; it does not establish that a particular player or now-playing service will work with it automatically. Test track changes, missing metadata, long titles, non-Latin scripts, and reconnect behavior in your own setup.
Set up music playback and match the title to the audio
For a single looping file
OBS’s Media Source is intended for an individual media file and has its own loop property. Use it when one recording should repeat; it is not the same as loading a playlist into a VLC Video source.

For a playlist
The OBS VLC Video source can play multiple media items and offers playlist controls, including Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed for the source to be available. The OBS guide says to use 64-bit VLC with 64-bit OBS. See the OBS Media Sources guide for setup details.
Whichever playback method you use, check that its audio reaches the stream and that the visible title matches the item actually playing. A Text source does not automatically detect songs from VLC or a streaming service.

Test the scene before leaving the stream running
- Run OBS’s Auto-Configuration Wizard as a starting point for your setup.
- Play the intended music and watch the audio mixer meters. Confirm the correct source is active and that the audio is reaching OBS.
- Inspect your output settings, then make a short test stream before the full broadcast.
- For continuous operation, arrange independent monitoring and decide how you will recover if playback, OBS, the computer, or the connection stops. A loop option repeats media; it does not guarantee uninterrupted unattended streaming.
The OBS Project’s Quick Start Guide recommends checking audio and output settings and testing before a real stream.
Check music rights for an internet stream in India
A logo or song title displayed on screen does not grant permission to stream the recording. PPL India distinguishes on-ground use from digital use: its on-ground sound-recording licence does not cover digital use, and its FAQ directs digital-platform users to individual labels. Its information is available under Choose your license and Licensing Updates. The relevant permissions depend on the specific recordings, underlying works, platform, territory, and agreements. Do not assume an on-ground business or terrestrial-radio licence covers an internet stream; ask the relevant rights holders and qualified Indian counsel about your operating model.
