The native Donate button is subject to channel, location, charity, and content restrictions; it is separate from Super Chat and from a creator-set on-screen goal.
Check whether YouTube Giving is available to your channel
YouTube’s current guidance lists these creator requirements for YouTube Giving:

- Your channel is based in a supported location.
- You have at least 10,000 subscribers.
- Your channel is in the YouTube Partner Program.
- Your channel is not designated Made for Kids.
YouTube notes that some channels may see the feature even when they do not meet the published criteria, so check YouTube Studio rather than treating the list as a definitive access test. The available locations listed in YouTube’s current FAQ include Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Canada, Colombia, Croatia, Estonia, France, Germany, Ghana, Hong Kong, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Availability can change; confirm the latest details in YouTube’s YouTube Giving FAQs.

Make sure the charity can be selected
YouTube Giving fundraisers use eligible nonprofits available through YouTube’s selection tool. YouTube says a nonprofit must be a US-registered 501(c)(3) public charity, belong to Google for Nonprofits, opt into online fundraising through GuideStar, be requested by a creator, and comply with YouTube policies. Private foundations are not currently supported.
If a charity does not appear, it may not meet those requirements, may be listed under a different public name, or may have opted out. Use the nonprofit request option shown in the fundraiser setup flow and check YouTube’s nonprofit eligibility guidance. Selecting an available charity is required for the native fundraiser; a link to a separate external fundraiser is a different approach.

Create the fundraiser and attach your scheduled live stream
Set up the campaign on a computer in YouTube Studio. You can create it from the Giving area or configure it while preparing the livestream.

- Sign in to YouTube Studio and open Earn > Giving.
- Select Get started > Create a fundraiser.
- Choose an available nonprofit. If it is missing, use the nonprofit request option and confirm that it meets YouTube’s requirements.
- Enter the fundraiser title and description, and add collaborators if applicable.
- Choose a fundraising goal and duration if you want them. YouTube suggests setting both, and says these details can be changed later.
- Add the scheduled live stream that should display the campaign.
- Select Publish. The fundraiser must be published and associated with the stream for viewers to find it there.
Alternatively, while setting up the livestream, open Live Control Room > Advanced Settings and configure the fundraiser in that flow. The exact options can vary as YouTube updates Studio; consult its current setup instructions if a label differs.

When viewers will see Donate
The Donate button becomes visible when the fundraiser’s start date arrives. It can appear on the video’s watch page and in live chat. If live chat is enabled, viewers can use Live Chat Donations—YouTube’s current live-chat fundraising feature. YouTube says this replaced the legacy Super Chat for Good mechanism, so do not look for the old feature name when configuring a new fundraiser.
The campaign goal and progress reflect money raised for the fundraiser across participating channels and videos, not just the one live stream you attached. You can edit campaign details, change the goal amount, or remove a fundraiser from the Giving tab.

Why the Donate button may be missing
- The fundraiser has not started yet: Verify that you published it and that its start date has arrived.
- The stream was not attached: Return to the Giving tab and confirm that the scheduled live stream is included in the fundraiser.
- The content is Made for Kids: YouTube removes the Donate button from content designated Made for Kids.
- Live chat is off: Live Chat Donations use live chat. Viewers may still find the fundraiser’s Donate button on the watch page.
- A mobile viewer cannot see the chat donation control: YouTube says live chat must be enabled and the device must be in portrait orientation.
- The channel or region is not eligible: Check whether Giving appears under Earn > Giving in Studio, then compare your channel and location with YouTube’s current requirements.
- The nonprofit is unavailable: It may not satisfy YouTube’s charity requirements or may appear under another public name.
How donations are handled
YouTube says Network for Good collects and distributes YouTube Giving donations. Its FAQ states: “100% of the money you donate will go to the nonprofit. YouTube also covers credit card transaction fees.” YouTube says distributions are typically monthly, and annually if less than $10 was raised. These are YouTube’s stated handling terms; check its current FAQ for any changes.
If YouTube Giving is unavailable
Google for Nonprofits suggests that creators who are not eligible for YouTube Giving can use an end screen to link to an external fundraiser, with GoFundMe and JustGiving given as examples. This takes viewers to an external destination: it is not a native YouTube Giving campaign, and it does not create a Donate button in YouTube live chat. Check the provider’s own requirements and terms before directing viewers there.
