Where to find the Earth Mover
Look west of Gnarly Bark’s base, near the toy car tracks. The location is also described more generally as the Earth Mover area in Brookhollow Park. A Grounded Wiki search-result excerpt corroborates the location, but the page itself was not available to check. The game is in Early Access, according to Obsidian’s official site, so routes and mechanics can change.

What you need before activating it
- Three Sap Bandages: the walkthrough says each of the three broken cable sections takes one. It identifies Clover Leaf and Sap as the crafting materials.

How to repair the cable and activate the Earth Mover
- Craft three Sap Bandages. Make sure you have all three before starting, so you can complete the entire repair route.
- Find the exposed black cable near the Earth Mover. Follow it to the first damaged section and use one Sap Bandage.
- Trace the cable across the gap. Repair the second break with another bandage. A mount may help with the crossing, but the walkthrough does not say one is necessary.
- Continue down toward the central cavern. Follow the same cable to the third break and use your final bandage. Do not stop after repairing the second section.
- Reach the Funpit Works controller. Return to the upper terrain and use the orange toy race-track structure to get to the controller above the Earth Mover area.
- Press the red button. The walkthrough reports that the indicator turns green and the Earth Mover’s arm moves across the gap. This button press is the activation; climbing the machine is a later exploration step.
What activation opens
The reported reward is access to a new route, not a documented quest payout or equipment upgrade. After the arm moves, return to the machine, climb the stairs on its right side, then get onto the Safety Matches box and yellow hydraulic boom. Follow the arm toward the bucket and the entrance.

Clear the entrance carefully
The walkthrough reports that Dead Roots block the entrance and that an ant mount’s crunch attack can break through them. It also reports a Pincher Earwig near the entrance, so prepare for a possible encounter before clearing the obstruction. These are guide-reported details, not mechanics confirmed by the official pages.
If the controller will not activate
- Check all three cable breaks. Trace the cable from the machine, across the gap, and down into the central cavern; repairing only two sections is not enough according to the walkthrough.
- Check your bandage supply. The reported sequence uses one Sap Bandage per break, for three total.
- Confirm you are at the Funpit Works controller. The controller is reached after repairing the cable; pressing its button moves the arm.
- Allow for version differences. The official site identifies Grounded 2 as Early Access, but the consulted sources do not document a specific activation bug or official fix.
Why the steps may change
Xbox Wire described the game’s July 29, 2025 launch in Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access. In that launch coverage, Game Director Chris Parker said the team rebuilt the game and introduced features including mounts, new biome structures, and a more narrative-driven experience. That provides development context, not confirmation of the Earth Mover’s current steps: the specific instructions here come from a secondary walkthrough.
