On a Samsung Galaxy phone, start a Canva Pro trial from the Canva app only when the account displays a Try it free offer. Choose the plan and payment method shown, confirm the subscription, and immediately record the trial end date in Settings > Billing & Teams. Canva says trials renew automatically unless cancelled. If you do not want a charge, cancel before the end date through the service that bills you: Canva for a direct subscription or Google Play for a Play-billed subscription. Deleting the app does not cancel either type.
What you need to know before starting
The Canva app on a Galaxy phone uses the same Canva account and subscription rules as Canva on other supported devices. The phone model itself does not establish eligibility, a special Samsung promotion, a universal trial length, or a standard price. Canva may show different offers by account, payment method, country, and time. Treat the offer and checkout information displayed in your account as the authoritative information for your trial.

- Eligibility is conditional. Canva says a Pro or Business trial is available once per Canva account and once per payment method. If Try it free is absent, the account or payment method may not qualify.
- Automatic renewal is the default. Canva’s official upgrade help states, “Your plan will auto-renew unless you cancel.”
- The trial can end without a charge in some cases. Canva says a trial started without payment details ends automatically without charging you. Do not assume that every account will be asked for payment details.
- The billing interval matters. The account may present a monthly or yearly plan. The renewal price, interval, and timing shown at checkout apply to that account and offer.
- Cancellation follows the billing source. A subscription billed directly by Canva is cancelled in Canva’s billing settings; one billed by Google Play is cancelled in Google Play.
Before confirming, read the plan name, billing frequency, price, trial end date if shown, and payment method on the confirmation screen. Save the confirmation email or take a screenshot for your records.

1. Sign in to the intended Canva account
- Open the Canva app on your Samsung Galaxy phone.
- Sign in to the Canva account that should own the subscription. If several people use the phone, check the account name or email before proceeding.
The trial is tied to the Canva account and the payment method, not merely to the device. Starting the process while signed in to the wrong account can put the subscription on an account you did not intend to use.

2. Open the upgrade or trial offer
- From Canva’s home screen, open the upgrade or free-trial prompt.
- Select Canva Pro.
- Choose Try it free if Canva presents that option.
The button is not guaranteed to appear. Canva says the Pro or Business trial can be used once per account and once per payment method. A missing button can therefore indicate that the account or payment method has already used an eligible trial. It can also reflect an offer that is not available in your region or for your account at that moment; do not try to bypass eligibility by repeatedly submitting payment details.
3. Review the plan and payment screen
- Choose the monthly or yearly plan displayed by Canva.
- Select a payment method, if Canva asks you to do so.
- Enter payment details only on Canva’s own checkout screen and review the complete offer.
- Confirm the trial after checking the renewal terms.
There is no single price or trial duration that applies to every country and account in the available Canva guidance. The amount, currency, billing interval, and renewal date shown in your account are the figures to use. A payment method may be requested even though the trial itself is free; the important distinction is whether the subscription will renew into a paid plan if you do not cancel.
If the screen allows you to begin without entering payment details, Canva says that trial ends automatically without a charge. If payment details are requested, assume the plan will renew under the displayed terms unless you cancel before the trial ends.
4. Confirm that activation succeeded
After confirmation, return to Canva’s account area rather than relying only on a welcome screen. The current plan and trial information should be visible under the billing settings described below. Keep the confirmation email, which can also help identify whether Canva or Google Play is the billing provider.

How to find the trial end date and renewal terms
Use Canva’s billing page
- Open the Canva profile or avatar menu.
- Choose Settings.
- Open Billing & Teams.
- Look next to the current plan for the trial end date and plan information.
Canva says the trial end date appears next to the current plan and that it sends an email reminder before the trial ends. Do not rely on the reminder as your only safeguard: record the date yourself and set a calendar alert several days earlier. The date in your account is more useful than a generic statement about how long trials “usually” last.
Check the same page after activation to confirm whether the plan is monthly or yearly, which payment method is associated with it, and whether the subscription appears to be managed by Canva. If the account area does not show the information you expect, check the billing email or your bank statement before attempting to cancel.
Where to cancel: Canva billing versus Google Play
Cancellation is determined by who processed the subscription. The two routes are not interchangeable.

Cancel a direct Canva subscription before renewal
- Open Canva and sign in to the account holding the trial.
- Open the profile or avatar menu.
- Choose Settings.
- Open Billing. In Japan, Canva may label this area Contract period.
- Select Cancel plan.
- Complete every confirmation step until Canva indicates that cancellation is finished.
Start this process before the end date shown beside the plan. A trial that reaches its end can move into the paid billing cycle under the terms displayed at signup. Canva’s terms state that the subscription fee for the next billing cycle is charged at the end of a trial unless the subscriber cancels before it ends.
After cancelling, retain the confirmation email. Reopen the billing page to verify that the plan no longer shows an upcoming renewal or that Canva records the cancellation. If the account still presents an active renewal, repeat the confirmation process or use Canva’s account support options with the confirmation details.
Cancel a Canva subscription billed by Google Play
- Open the Google Play app or Google Play’s account subscription controls while signed in to the Google account that paid for Canva.
- Open the list of subscriptions and select Canva.
- Choose the cancellation option and complete the prompts.
- Save the Google Play cancellation confirmation.
Google Play’s labels can vary by Android version and account layout, so use the subscription-management area rather than the Canva app’s direct billing controls. If Canva does not appear, check other Google accounts on the phone and compare the receipt or bank statement with the account currently signed in.

How to verify that cancellation worked
- Look for a cancellation confirmation from Canva or Google Play and keep it.
- Return to the billing or subscription screen and check the renewal status.
- Confirm that the account shows the date access ends or the date the paid renewal will no longer occur.
- Review the next bank or card statement if you cancelled close to the deadline.
If a charge appears after you believe you cancelled, first determine the merchant on the statement. A Canva charge requires checking Canva’s billing record; a Google Play charge requires checking the Google Play subscription and receipt. The merchant determines which service can provide the relevant cancellation record.

Keep account ownership clear
Use the same Canva login each time you open the app. If you sign out and switch accounts, the Pro status and billing information may appear different because the subscription belongs to the account that started it.
Track the commercial terms, not just feature access
Premium features may remain available during the trial, but feature access does not tell you whether renewal is scheduled. Check Settings > Billing & Teams for the end date and plan details. The billing page and confirmation email are the appropriate records for the subscription terms.

Decide before the deadline
Set a reminder before the displayed end date. If you want to keep Canva Pro, no cancellation is needed, but the plan will renew according to the monthly or yearly schedule shown at signup. If you do not want to continue, cancel through the correct billing provider and verify the result.
Troubleshooting common problems
The “Try it free” button is missing
- Confirm that you are signed in to the intended Canva account.
- Consider whether that account has already used a Canva Pro or Business trial.
- Consider whether the payment method has already been used for an eligible trial; Canva limits the offer once per payment method.
- Check whether Canva is showing a paid upgrade instead of a trial for your country or account.
Do not assume that reinstalling the app will create a new eligibility period. Trial availability is controlled by Canva’s account and payment rules, not by whether the app has recently been installed.
The plan, price, or duration looks different from an online example
Online descriptions cannot establish the offer for your account. Canva’s available guidance does not set one universal price, trial duration, or payment requirement for every region. Use the plan, currency, duration, and renewal timing displayed at checkout and in your billing settings.
You cannot find the end date
- Open the profile or avatar menu in Canva.
- Choose Settings, then Billing & Teams.
- Check beside the current plan.
- If the date is still unclear, search your Canva and Google Play billing emails and compare them with your bank statement.
The billing source shown by the receipt determines which cancellation route applies.

You cancelled but still see Pro access
Cancellation and immediate removal of trial access are not necessarily the same event. Check the cancellation confirmation and the recorded end date. If the subscription still shows an upcoming renewal, the cancellation may not have completed or may have been submitted in the wrong billing system.
You deleted the app and expected the subscription to stop
App removal does not cancel billing. Reinstalling Canva can help you view the account, but the cancellation must be completed in Canva’s billing settings or Google Play, depending on the merchant.
A practical Galaxy-phone checklist
- Sign in to the correct Canva account.
- Confirm that Try it free is actually displayed.
- Review the monthly or yearly plan, price, currency, payment method, and renewal terms.
- Complete activation and save the confirmation email.
- Open Profile/avatar > Settings > Billing & Teams.
- Record the trial end date and set a reminder.
- Identify whether Canva or Google Play is the billing provider.
- If you do not want a paid renewal, cancel through that provider before the end date.
- Verify the cancellation status and retain the confirmation.
What happens at the end of the trial
If you leave an eligible subscription active, Canva’s terms say the fee for the next billing cycle is charged at the end of the trial. The billing frequency follows the plan selected at signup, either monthly or yearly. The exact amount and date depend on the offer shown in your account. If the trial began without payment details, Canva says it ends automatically without a charge.
That distinction is why checking the account’s billing page is essential. A general claim that every Canva trial is identical cannot tell you whether your account will request payment details, what it will charge, or when the first renewal will occur.
