You can activate Mint Mobile on a Samsung Galaxy with an eSIM only when that exact Galaxy model supports eSIM and is unlocked for Mint. For a new line, select eSIM delivery and complete setup in the Mint Mobile app or with the QR code sent to your checkout email. If you already have Mint and are replacing a phone or eSIM, use the account’s replacement or device-change flow instead of treating the move as a new activation.
The steps below separate those situations, explain what to do before installing the eSIM, and show how to recover when an email, QR code, number transfer, or device move fails.

What you need before activating
“Samsung Galaxy” is not a single compatibility guarantee. eSIM support differs by model, regional version, software release, and carrier variant. Confirm the exact model in Mint’s compatibility checker before ordering or attempting installation. The phone must also be unlocked; a Galaxy that is restricted to another carrier can reject Mint even if its hardware supports eSIM.
- Exact model compatibility: Check the complete model number, not just a family name such as Galaxy S or Galaxy A.
- Unlocked status: If the phone came from another carrier, ask that carrier to confirm it is unlocked. Mint’s BYOP eSIM service requires an unlocked device.
- Connectivity: Use reliable Wi-Fi during installation, particularly when replacing an eSIM or moving service to another phone.
- Checkout email access: Mint sends activation information to the email address used for the order.
- Porting details, if applicable: Have the previous carrier’s billing ZIP code, account number, and number-transfer PIN or other required PIN ready.
- Power: Keep the phone charged. If you are transferring between two Android phones, keep both devices charged and connected to Wi-Fi.
Do not buy a SIM tool or other accessory for this process. The eSIM is downloaded electronically. If the Galaxy is incompatible or cannot be unlocked, a physical-SIM option or a different compatible phone may be necessary.

Choose the correct Mint activation path

Activate a new Mint plan on your Galaxy
1. Verify the exact Galaxy and its lock status
Use Mint’s compatibility check with the phone’s full model information. Recent Galaxy phones may support eSIM, but that does not establish support for every Galaxy generation or regional variant. If the checker does not recognize the model, or if the result is unclear, confirm the model and carrier variant before proceeding.
Next, confirm that the phone is unlocked. A carrier lock is separate from eSIM capability. Contact the carrier that supplied the phone if you need an unlock confirmation. Do not assume that paying off a device, inserting another SIM, or seeing an eSIM option in Settings automatically means Mint will work.
2. Select eSIM delivery during checkout
When ordering a new Mint plan, choose eSIM Delivery after compatibility has been confirmed. Mint’s general eSIM instructions describe installation and activation through the Mint Mobile app or by scanning the QR code sent to the email used at checkout. Plan prices and offers change, so this guide does not treat any particular price as permanent.

If you want to keep a number from another carrier, start the transfer with the information from that carrier. Mint may require the old account number, billing ZIP code, and a number-transfer PIN or equivalent account PIN.

Mint’s eSIM troubleshooting instructions say to complete the number transfer before installing the eSIM. Do not cancel the old carrier’s service first. Keep it active until Mint activation is complete; cancelling early can interrupt the transfer or make it harder to recover the number.
A new Mint number does not require this porting step. You can proceed with the activation instructions once the order and email are ready.
4. Find the activation email
Check the inbox for the email address used during checkout. Search for Mint Mobile, activation code, or order confirmation. If it is not in the main inbox, check Spam or Junk and the Promotions or Updates tabs used by your email service.

5. Install and activate through the Mint app
Connect the Galaxy to Wi-Fi, install or open the Mint Mobile app, and follow the setup instructions for the new line. The app guides the activation and eSIM installation in one flow. The exact Samsung screens shown after the app starts the installation can vary by model and Android software version.
Mint Mobile describes the general process this way: “Activate your plan and install your eSIM in the Mint Mobile app or by scanning the QR code sent to your email (we’ll walk you through it).” That statement describes Mint’s carrier flow; it is not a promise of one universal Samsung Settings sequence.
6. Use the emailed QR code when the app route is not available
Open the activation email on another screen, such as a computer or second phone, so the Galaxy can use its camera to read the QR code. In the Galaxy’s cellular or SIM-management settings, choose the option to add or download an eSIM when it is offered, then scan the code and follow the prompts.

Mint’s instructions support the QR method, but they do not establish one Settings path for every Galaxy.

7. Finish the in-app setup and test the line
Complete every instruction shown by Mint, including any prompts to select the newly installed line for calls, messages, or mobile data. Verify that the intended number appears and that the line can connect as expected. If you are porting a number, wait for the transfer to finish before judging the installation unsuccessful.
Replace a Mint eSIM on the same phone
Use this route when you are already a Mint customer and need a replacement eSIM, rather than ordering a second new line.
- Connect the Galaxy to Wi-Fi.
- Open the Mint Mobile app and go to Account, then SIM Card.
- Choose the replacement eSIM option.
- Complete the requested SMS account verification.
- Continue through the installation choices in the app. Mint’s replacement flow can offer QR scanning or manual entry.
Replacement eligibility, allowances, and any charges can change, so check the terms displayed in your account at the time you make the request. Do not use an old new-customer QR code for this situation; the account flow is what associates the replacement with your existing service.
Move your Mint line to a new Galaxy
Use Mint’s device-change flow
For a new phone, install the Mint Mobile app on the new Galaxy and sign in. Then select Account → Change device → Get an eSIM. Verify the account by SMS and follow the installation prompts.
Keep the old phone and its old eSIM intact until the transfer is complete. Deleting the old eSIM first removes a useful fallback and can leave the line unavailable if verification or installation is interrupted.
Use Android eSIM Quick Transfer only when eligible
Mint also documents Android eSIM Quick Transfer for select Android models. It is not a universal Galaxy feature. The transfer is Android-to-Android and requires:
- Both phones to be charged and connected to Wi-Fi.
- The target phone to support eSIM.
- Number Lock to be turned off.
- Both devices to meet the model and software eligibility shown during setup.
Start the transfer from the eSIM or SIM-management controls on the participating phones and follow the prompts displayed on each device. Menu wording and eligibility vary, so an absent Quick Transfer option does not necessarily mean the phone is defective; it may simply be an unsupported model, software version, or transfer combination. Use Mint’s regular device-change flow instead.

What to do when your Galaxy cannot use Mint eSIM
An eSIM-capable phone is required for the electronic route. If the exact Galaxy model fails Mint’s compatibility check, the phone is locked, or the carrier variant does not expose eSIM support, do not continue trying different QR scans. Resolve compatibility or unlock status first. If the phone remains incompatible, use a physical SIM only if both the phone and Mint support that arrangement, or choose an unlocked Galaxy model that Mint identifies as compatible.
Troubleshoot common activation failures

How to avoid losing service during the change
- Keep the previous carrier active until a ported number is working on Mint.
- Do not erase an old Mint eSIM before a replacement or device transfer reports completion.
- Use Wi-Fi for downloads and account verification.
- Keep activation emails private; the QR code and manual values are not general setup codes.
- Record the exact Galaxy model and carrier variant before asking for help, because “Galaxy” alone is not enough to determine eSIM eligibility.
App installation versus QR installation

Key distinction: new activation versus replacement
A new customer receives an activation path tied to a new order and can install through the Mint app or the checkout email’s QR code. An existing customer’s replacement or phone move is tied to the current Mint account and requires account verification. Choosing the wrong path can produce a valid-looking installation attempt that does not move the intended line.
For that reason, identify your situation first: new plan, replacement on the same phone, move to a new phone, or eligible Android Quick Transfer. Then follow only that route and retain the old service or eSIM for the period Mint specifies in the corresponding flow.
