The March of Giants Pioneer Playtest is scheduled to open on Steam at 10 AM EDT on October 7, 2026, and run through October 18, 2026, according to Ubisoft’s dedicated announcement. New players can request access from the game’s Steam page; players from the September 2025 Closed Alpha are included automatically. Both groups need Ubisoft Connect and a Ubisoft Account to play. The test is scheduled for the future as of October 3, 2026.
When is the March of Giants playtest?
Ubisoft’s dedicated Pioneer Playtest announcement gives the schedule as October 7–18, 2026, with access opening at 10 AM EDT on October 7. Ubisoft Montréal’s separate article gives conflicting end dates: it says October 7–18 in one section and October 7–19 in another. The dedicated playtest announcement is the clearer schedule source, so October 18 is the date to plan around; Ubisoft has not explained the discrepancy. The playtest announcement says invitations are intended to remain open throughout the test, but Ubisoft may pause them while it scales server capacity. Request access early rather than assuming a request will be granted instantly.
How to request access on Steam
- Open the March of Giants page on Steam.
- Find the playtest section and select Request Access.
- Wait for Steam to grant access and notify you.
- Once access is granted, download the game from your Steam Library.
- Install or open Ubisoft Connect and sign in to a Ubisoft Account when required to play.
Steam access and the Ubisoft account requirement are separate parts of the process: being able to download through Steam does not remove the requirement to use Ubisoft Connect.

If you played the September 2025 Closed Alpha
Ubisoft says September 2025 Closed Alpha participants are included automatically. They should not expect a new Steam access notification; when the playtest opens, they can look for the game in their Steam Library and download it there. Ubisoft Connect and a Ubisoft Account are still required.
Where the test is available
The announcement does not describe a worldwide test. It lists the United States, Canada, Mexico, Ukraine, Norway, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and supported European countries. Ubisoft says servers will be available for North America and supported European countries. The listed languages are English, French, German and Spanish. How Pioneer status and rewards work
Ubisoft’s playtest post says completed PvP matches award Pioneer Points, with 100 points for a win and 50 for a loss. Reaching 1,000 points grants Pioneer status and the rewards listed by Ubisoft. Leaving before a match ends earns no points; PvE and custom games do not count.

Ubisoft lists two ways to earn a 20% Pioneer Point boost: watch participating March of Giants Twitch streams for one hour, or claim a code through the official Discord by following its booster-code instructions. The two routes provide the same boost and do not stack. The Twitch route also involves linking the relevant accounts as directed by Ubisoft.

The playtest announcement says the Early Access date has not yet been announced; it does not give a date for that release.
Can you stream or share playtest footage?
Ubisoft says this test has no NDA or watermark requirement, and participants may stream, record and share gameplay. Follow any updated terms Ubisoft publishes for the test.

What kind of game is March of Giants?
Ubisoft describes March of Giants as a free-to-play 4v4 MOBA. In a recent vision update, the team outlined changes including a broader role for Soldiers, more interaction and counterplay around Battleworks, greater importance for spaces between lanes in progression and map control, expanded itemization, additional Giants, and updates to the map, interface, visuals, animations and gameplay clarity.
