To get early access to the new DMZ mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Activision currently says to preorder or prepurchase any digital edition on the platform where you will play. The scheduled access start is Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Pacific Time. Buy through the platform’s official store, install through its official launcher, and confirm the offer is available in your country before paying.
This is not the older Modern Warfare II DMZ Beta. That legacy listing has separate installation instructions and should not be used as proof that your account qualifies for the new DMZ early-access window.

Use an official purchase and download route
Activision’s beta FAQ names the Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, Battle.net, Steam Store, Nintendo eShop and most retailers as preorder channels. That list is useful for identifying normal storefronts, but the live DMZ offer in your region is the final authority. Open the store attached to the platform on which you will play and look for the current Modern Warfare 4 digital edition and its DMZ Early Access wording.
Do not download an “early build” from a file-sharing page, a forum attachment or an unofficial launcher. The official material identifies platform storefronts and launchers as the installation route; it does not establish a legitimate alternative build channel. Avoid giving your Activision or platform password to another person, buying a shared account, or using a code seller whose eligibility cannot be verified in the official terms.

The important evidence is a digital entitlement attached to your intended account, not a screenshot from a third-party seller.
- Install from the official library or launcher. When the DMZ access listing becomes available, find it in the platform store or official launcher, select the install or download option, and allow the platform to verify the entitlement. Activision’s published beta procedure follows this store-or-launcher workflow; check for updated DMZ-specific instructions when the listing appears.
- Check PC security requirements. Activision’s Modern Warfare 4 PC and beta guidance required TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot for PC players and linked those protections to RICOCHET Anti-Cheat. What the digital entitlement actually covers
The current wording ties the benefit to a digital Modern Warfare 4 edition, not to a particular bundle price or cosmetic package. “Any digital edition” means you do not need to identify a special DMZ-only tier in the current terms. It does not mean that a purchase automatically follows you to every platform. Buy on the storefront connected to the hardware you intend to use, and do not assume that a PlayStation, Xbox, Battle.net or Steam entitlement is interchangeable.

The offer also concerns access timing, not a separate downloadable game obtained from a third-party site. Timing, preload and launch-day checks
Activision currently lists Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Pacific Time, for DMZ Early Access and references October 23, 2026, as the broader game release date. Those are different milestones. Early access beginning on October 20 does not guarantee that every region, store or launcher will display a download at the same local clock time.

Before the window opens, update the platform launcher, sign in to the purchasing account and leave enough storage for the official installation. The published instructions establish the store-or-launcher workflow, but they do not promise a particular preload time or file size. If the game is not visible early, wait for the current Activision announcement and your storefront’s listing rather than searching for a leaked package.

On launch day, check that the platform is online, the account is the one that placed the order, and the installed title is Modern Warfare 4. A shortcut or search result labeled “DMZ Beta” can point to the older product instead.
PC security: TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot
For its Modern Warfare 4 beta guidance, Activision required two firmware-backed protections on PC:
- TPM 2.0: A hardware security module or firmware implementation used by Windows and anti-cheat protections.
- Secure Boot: A UEFI feature that permits trusted boot software and blocks untrusted boot components.
Those requirements were published for the beta, not as a permanent guarantee for every future DMZ build. Before changing firmware settings, check the current DMZ requirements and your computer manufacturer’s instructions. Enabling or disabling firmware options can affect an existing Windows installation, encryption recovery and other boot settings; record your current configuration and keep recovery information available.
Activision also notes that additional security measures may be enforced. If the game reports a security or anti-cheat failure, use the current Activision support guidance for the exact message instead of downloading a “fix” from an unknown site.

The older Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II DMZ Beta is a separate product and installation path. Activision’s Modern Warfare II installation instructions cover that legacy game, and Steam has a distinct Modern Warfare II – DMZ Beta listing that says the base game is required.

If a search result takes you to the old Steam page, stop and check the game title, edition and release terms before downloading or paying. Similar names are the most likely source of an accidental wrong install.

The purchase does not appear in your library
Verify that you are signed into the same platform account used for the digital purchase and that the order completed. Reopen the official store or launcher and check the current Modern Warfare 4 listing. If the entitlement is still absent, use the platform’s official order support and Activision’s current support channel; do not hand your credentials to a third party offering to “activate” the build.
The download is not visible before October 20
The scheduled access date is October 20, 2026, Pacific Time. A listing or preload can appear at a different time, and Activision can revise the schedule. Check the current editions page and the platform store rather than assuming an unofficial file is an early release.

The PC launcher reports a security requirement
Check the latest DMZ instructions first. If TPM 2.0 or Secure Boot is listed, verify both in your system’s supported firmware settings and confirm that Windows still boots normally. Activision’s beta guidance also says other security checks may apply, so follow the exact current error message and support instructions.
The account is blocked
Activision states that certain permanently banned Activision IDs from previous Call of Duty titles may not be eligible for Modern Warfare 4. A new purchase does not override that warning. Use an account whose status complies with the current terms and resolve any appeal or account question through official support.
A retailer sent a code but the benefit is unclear
Check whether that retailer is covered by the current offer and whether the code redeems on the platform you plan to use. Do not redeem a code simply because its description mentions “DMZ.” The product title, platform, territory and current edition terms should all match.

Can I buy the game on one platform and play early on another?
