It is included with Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade, and the Expansions Bundle, and Forza also plans to sell it separately. It is not yet available to download. When it releases, use the same account and storefront that owns the entitlement, then check your platform’s game library or add-on management area for the download. Forza has not published a Forza-specific, menu-by-menu installation path, so the platform instructions below are general guidance rather than quoted official steps.
What you need before installing an expansion
There are three separate questions to answer before looking for a download button:

- Has the expansion released? Expansion 1 has a future release date, so an install option should not be expected before release day.
- Which entitlement do you own? Your access depends on Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade, the Expansions Bundle, or a separate Expansion 1 purchase.
- Which account and storefront are you using? Purchases are checked against the account and store where they were made. Cross-play or cross-save does not automatically mean that a DLC license transfers between every storefront.
Keep the game updated and leave enough free storage for the game update and the add-on. The published storage figures currently available are for the base-game preload, not for Expansion 1 itself.

When Forza Horizon 6 Expansion 1 is available
Forza and Playground Games announced January 21, 2027 as the release date for the first Premium Expansion. Until that date, the expansion may appear as part of an edition or bundle you own without being downloadable. Availability can also depend on the store’s regional release timing and whether the game has received the required update.

Expansion 2 is included in the Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade, and the Expansions Bundle, but the cited official information does not provide a release date. Do not treat ownership of Expansion 2 as evidence that it can be installed now.
Which purchase gives you access?
The following are the confirmed ways to obtain Expansion 1. “Included” means the entitlement is part of that product; it does not mean the add-on is already released or installed.

If you own only the standard base game, an Expansion 1 download will not appear unless you also acquire one of the qualifying products. If you bought Premium Upgrade, confirm that the base game is installed or that your account has an eligible Game Pass subscription; the upgrade is not a standalone copy of Forza Horizon 6.

Account and storefront rules
Xbox Series X|S and Microsoft Store Windows PC
Forza’s feature information says a digital Xbox Series X|S or Microsoft Store Windows PC purchase can be used on both platforms. That arrangement carries save profiles and DLC entitlements without requiring a second purchase. Sign in on each device with the Microsoft account that owns the game or add-on.
This statement applies to the Xbox and Microsoft Store Windows PC relationship described by Forza. It does not establish the same DLC transfer arrangement for Steam or PlayStation 5.
PlayStation 5 and Steam
Forza separately describes cross-play and cross-save support across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, and Steam. A shared save or the ability to play with users on another platform is not proof that an Expansion 1 license purchased in one store will transfer to another. Check ownership in the storefront where you made the purchase and install the add-on there.

Use one account consistently
Before troubleshooting, write down the account used for the purchase. Common causes of a missing entitlement include signing in with a different account, opening a different PC store than the one used to buy the game, or launching a platform version that is not tied to the purchase. Changing platforms can also change which store controls the DLC license.

The announcement confirms the products and release timing but does not publish exact Forza menu labels. The sequence below is the safest platform-neutral process; wording and button names can differ by system.
- Update the base game. Open the game’s entry in your platform library and allow any available Forza Horizon 6 update to finish. An add-on may not be offered until the main game is current.
- Sign in to the purchasing account. Use the account that owns Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade, the Expansions Bundle, or the individual Expansion 1 purchase. On Windows, use the store application associated with that purchase.
- Open the game’s ownership or add-on area. From the library or the game’s store page, look for a control such as add-ons, downloadable content, manage game, or owned items. These are general platform functions, not an officially published Forza menu path.
- Check the Expansion 1 status. The listing should identify the add-on as owned, included, ready to install, or available to download. If it is shown only as purchasable, recheck the account, storefront, edition, and release timing before buying anything again.
- Start the download or installation. Select the platform’s install option and keep the device connected until the download completes. If the store queues the add-on behind a game update, allow the update to finish first.
- Restart the game if necessary. Close and relaunch Forza Horizon 6 after installation so the game can refresh its downloadable-content license. The exact in-game activation behavior has not been published, so follow any on-screen prompt that appears rather than assuming a particular menu will be present.
- Verify the result. Check the game’s installed-content or add-on listing again. If the platform reports that Expansion 1 is installed but the game does not recognize it, continue with the account, update, and storage checks below instead of purchasing another copy immediately.
Platform-specific checks
Xbox Series X
- Sign in with the Microsoft account that owns the game or expansion.
- Open your Xbox game library and select Forza Horizon 6.
- Open the game’s add-on or installed-content management area and look for Expansion 1.
- Install the add-on if the platform marks it as owned or available.
- Check the console’s storage screen if the download does not start or pauses for lack of space.
The published preload figure for the Xbox Series X base game was 135 GB. That is not an Expansion 1 size and should not be treated as the total space required after installing the add-on. Leave additional headroom for updates and consult the current store listing for revised requirements.

Xbox Series S
- Use the Microsoft account that purchased or received the entitlement.
- Find Forza Horizon 6 in the console library and open its add-on management view.
- Select Expansion 1 when it is listed as owned or ready to install.
- Allow the game update and expansion download to complete before launching the game.
The base-game preload article listed 130 GB of free space for Xbox Series S. Because that figure excludes expansion-specific requirements, check the current listing and keep more free space available than the base-game minimum where possible.
Microsoft Store Windows PC or the Xbox app on PC
- Sign in to Windows and the Microsoft Store or Xbox app with the account tied to the purchase.
- Open your library and select the Microsoft Store version of Forza Horizon 6.
- Use the game’s manage, add-on, or owned-content control to locate Expansion 1.
- Start the installation and confirm that the destination drive has enough free space.
- Launch the game after both the base-game update and add-on installation finish.
Forza’s cross-buy statement covers a digital Xbox Series X|S or Microsoft Store Windows PC purchase and says DLC entitlements can be used on both without repurchasing. It does not include Steam in that statement. The published PC preload requirement was 160 GB plus an SSD for the base game; no separate Expansion 1 storage figure has been announced in the cited material.

PlayStation 5
- Sign in to the PlayStation account that purchased the game or the PlayStation version of the expansion.
- Open your game library or the Forza Horizon 6 store page.
- Check the downloadable-content or add-on section for an owned Expansion 1 listing.
- Start the download, then install any pending game update.
Cross-play and cross-save support do not establish DLC cross-buy with Xbox, Microsoft Store PC, or Steam. If the add-on is missing, verify the PlayStation store account and purchase history rather than relying on a save that originated on another platform.
Steam
- Sign in to the Steam account that owns the Steam version of Forza Horizon 6 and any Steam DLC purchase.
- Open the game in your Steam library and inspect its downloadable-content or properties area.
- Make sure Expansion 1 is listed as owned and enabled, then allow Steam to download it.
- Restart the game after the download and any game update complete.
Forza names Steam as a supported cross-play and cross-save platform, but Steam is excluded from the Xbox–Microsoft Store PC cross-buy statement. Do not assume an entitlement purchased through another storefront will unlock the Steam add-on.

The available storage figures are baseline numbers for the May 2026 base-game preload:

Store listings can change as files and requirements are finalized. Check the current listing on your platform close to release, and maintain enough free space for temporary update files as well as the final installation. If a download repeatedly stops, storage pressure is one of the first conditions to check.
Troubleshooting a missing or failed installation
The expansion is not listed
- Confirm that the release date has passed in your region. A future entitlement can be visible before its download becomes available.
- Verify the account currently signed in is the account that owns the qualifying edition, upgrade, bundle, or individual purchase.
- Check that you are in the same storefront used for the purchase. Xbox, Microsoft Store PC, PlayStation, and Steam licenses should not be treated as interchangeable.
- If you own Premium Upgrade, confirm that the base game or an eligible Game Pass subscription is still available to the account.
- Open the platform’s purchase history or owned-content view to distinguish an owned add-on from a store page that is merely advertising it.
The download button is unavailable
- Install pending Forza Horizon 6 updates first and then revisit the add-on listing.
- Restart the platform’s store or library application and sign in again if the ownership state has not refreshed.
- Check available storage, including the space needed for a temporary update package.
- Do not repurchase immediately. First establish whether the problem is release timing, account selection, or storefront mismatch.
The add-on downloads but the game cannot see it
- Close and relaunch the game after installation.
- Confirm that the add-on is shown as installed in the platform’s manage-content screen.
- Make sure the installed game version and the DLC were obtained from the same storefront family.
- Check for another pending game update or a sign-in change that could prevent the license from refreshing.
You changed platforms
Cross-save can make progression available on another supported platform, but it does not by itself prove that DLC ownership follows. Recheck the store account and entitlement on the platform where you are trying to install Expansion 1. For Xbox Series X|S and Microsoft Store Windows PC, the stated cross-buy relationship includes DLC entitlements; the cited information does not make that promise for PlayStation 5 or Steam.
What is still unconfirmed
- Forza has not published an exact, platform-by-platform menu path for installing Expansion 1.
- No Expansion 1-specific storage requirement has been stated. The available 135 GB, 130 GB, and 160 GB figures are base-game preload numbers.
- The cited material does not describe Expansion 1’s features or gameplay content.
- Expansion 2 has no release date in the available official information.
- Cross-save and cross-play support do not establish universal DLC transfer between storefronts.
For changes to the release date, store availability, entitlement wording, or installation requirements, use the current listing on the platform where you own the game and the latest official Forza announcement.
