Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Start with a fresh browser session, inspect the site’s consent controls, choose the option explicitly labeled for necessary-only or rejecting non-essential cookies, and verify the saved preference before capturing. There is no universal button or selector that safely makes this choice on every site.
Why a generic “accept” click is unreliable
Cookie banners are built differently across websites. A button labeled “Accept” may accept all cookies, while the necessary-only choice may be called “Reject non-essential,” “Necessary only,” or something else. A selector containing the word “accept” does not establish what the control does.
Compare the choices by their stated effect and whether the site records your selection:
- Necessary-only or reject non-essential: choose this when available if you want to allow only essential cookies.
- Configure or preferences: open the settings and disable non-essential categories if the banner offers no direct necessary-only option.
- Accept all: do not select this when your goal is to accept only necessary cookies.
If the intended option is missing or its meaning is unclear, stop and inspect the site rather than substituting a different button.
Use Playwright to make and verify the choice
A new non-persistent browser context gives the capture an isolated session. Playwright says these contexts do not write browsing data to disk; isolation helps make a run repeatable, but it does not itself select or save a consent preference. See the Playwright BrowserContext API for context and cookie operations.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Create a fresh context and open the page. Navigate to the target URL and wait for the consent interface to settle.
- Inspect the actual control. Use the banner’s visible text and accessible name to identify the necessary-only or reject-non-essential choice. Use a site-specific locator; do not guess from a generic selector.
- Click only the intended option. If the site presents preferences rather than a direct rejection option, configure the categories there and save.
- Verify that the choice took effect. Check the resulting interface and, where suitable, inspect cookies through the browser context. A vanished banner alone does not prove which preference was saved.
- Capture the page. Use the Page screenshot method after the consent action and verification. Choose viewport or full-page capture for the task; screenshot options change the image, not the consent state.
Playwright provides the navigation and screenshot operations in its Page API. Its APIs give you browser controls; they do not interpret a site’s consent wording for you.
Example locator pattern
Because banner wording and structure vary, treat this as a pattern to adapt after inspecting the target page, not as a universal script:
const context = await browser.newContext();
const page = await context.newPage();
await page.goto('https://example.com');
// Replace this with the exact accessible name verified on the target site.
const necessaryOnly = page.getByRole('button', { name: 'Reject non-essential cookies', exact: true });
if (await necessaryOnly.isVisible()) {
await necessaryOnly.click();
// Verify the resulting consent state before capturing.
await page.screenshot({ path: 'page.png', fullPage: true });
} else {
throw new Error('Necessary-only consent control not found; inspect the banner.');
}
The locator text above is illustrative: use the wording actually presented by the site. Do not make a failed lookup silently fall back to “Accept all.”

Use a hosted browser example carefully
Browserless documents an example that waits for a page to settle, checks for a visible matching consent control, clicks it, and captures a screenshot. It also says selectors should be adjusted for the specific banner framework, such as OneTrust or CookieBot. That makes it a useful implementation starting point, not evidence that one broad selector always chooses necessary-only consent. See Browserless’s cookie-consent example.
Legal scope: UK guidance is not universal advice
The UK Information Commissioner’s Office says consent under its PECR guidance must be freely given, specific and informed, with an unambiguous positive action; it also says non-essential cookies should not be set before consent and users should be able to enable or disable them easily. This is UK guidance, not a conclusion about every jurisdiction or a substitute for legal advice. See the ICO’s Cookies and similar technologies guidance.
