That can reduce the need to mow manually, but it is not a fit for every lawn or a maintenance-free appliance. Its listed capacity depends on mowing pattern, its slope limits differ between the lawn and its boundary, and setup and occasional upkeep still matter.
What the Automower 308V does for you
Husqvarna lists the 308V with a virtual-wire boundary, a virtual transport path and automatic charging on its UK product page for article 970 83 10-03. In practice, the convenience comes from letting the mower work within its configured area and return to charge, rather than repeatedly pushing a mower around the lawn. That is a reduction in routine manual mowing, not a promise of zero effort. The lawn needs to suit the machine, the installation needs to be configured correctly, and the mower still needs cleaning, blade changes and occasional troubleshooting. Husqvarna’s product and support materials establish the design and specifications, but do not provide an independent study of time saved or guarantee a particular lawn finish.
Will it cover your lawn?
Husqvarna lists 800 m² as the 308V’s overall working-area capacity, but the figure varies with mowing pattern: 500 m² for irregular mowing and 800 m² for systematic mowing. These are manufacturer figures for the UK listing and 2026 product guide, not a guarantee that every lawn of that size is suitable. The cutting system uses three pivoting razor blades across a 22 cm cutting width. Husqvarna lists mower blades as a compatible accessory category, but confirm the exact replacement blade and fit for your mower before ordering. 308V support page.
How steep can the Automower 308V handle?
Husqvarna rates the 308V for slopes up to 40% inside the installation and 15% at the boundary. The boundary figure is not interchangeable with the in-area rating: a perimeter slope beyond 15% is outside the stated boundary limit even if it is below 40%. Treat areas beyond the relevant limit as a reason to exclude them or redesign the installation, not as a casual test.

A slope percentage is vertical rise divided by horizontal distance, multiplied by 100. For example, a 40% slope rises 40 units for every 100 horizontal units. Husqvarna notes that steep turns around obstacles and wet conditions can increase slipping and grass-wear risks. Keep the wheels clean to support traction; a Terrain Kit may help on compatible models, but confirm fitment for the 308V before considering one. What setup still takes attention?
The 308V UK listing specifies a virtual-wire boundary, so do not assume that general instructions for installing a physical boundary wire describe this model’s setup. Husqvarna’s physical-wire guide is useful for understanding the planning issues common to installations—station placement, slopes, islands, secondary areas and passages—but use the manual and setup instructions for the correct region and article number for the 308V itself. - Check that the lawn area and mowing pattern fit the relevant capacity figure.
- Identify slopes at the boundary separately from slopes within the working area.
- Plan around obstacles, narrow passages and any areas that should be excluded.
- Place and configure the charging station and virtual boundary according to the 308V’s regional instructions.
- Pair the mower with the app if you plan to use app-based controls, then confirm that its configured work area reflects the actual lawn.
What upkeep should you expect?
Automation removes repeated manual mowing from the routine; it does not eliminate care. The mower’s blades need replacement as they wear, and the machine and wheels need periodic cleaning. Husqvarna’s 308V support page lists blades and a Maintenance & Cleaning Kit among accessory categories. These are optional purchase paths, not evidence that a particular kit is required. If the mower slips on a slope, first consider whether the terrain is within the stated limits and whether the wheels are clean. Avoid assuming an accessory will make an out-of-limit slope suitable; confirm Terrain Kit compatibility with Husqvarna or a local dealer before buying.

Check runtime figures against your exact model
Husqvarna’s current UK product listing gives typical mowing time of 100 minutes per charge and typical charging time of 100 minutes. The 2026 catalogue gives different typical mowing and charging figures, so these values should not be combined or treated as universally applicable. Who is the 308V a sensible fit for?
The 308V is worth considering if your lawn fits the capacity for your chosen mowing pattern, the boundary and in-area slopes remain within their separate limits, and you are comfortable with an installation and periodic blade and cleaning work. It is less straightforward if your lawn exceeds the relevant area rating, has boundary slopes over 15%, or depends on uncertain accessory compatibility. The UK product page is region-specific, so confirm local availability, article number, instructions and support before deciding.
