How does the wanted system work in GTA 6? Rockstar has not confirmed its rules in the official material reviewed as of October 7, 2026. The number of wanted levels, police behavior, ways to escape pursuit, and consequences after getting away are all unestablished. GTA VI is still upcoming, so treat claims about those mechanics as speculation unless Rockstar publishes direct details.
What Rockstar has confirmed about GTA 6
Rockstar’s Trailer 1 page, dated December 4, 2023, frames the story around Jason and Lucia, an easy score that goes wrong, and a criminal conspiracy across Leonida. That is story context; it does not explain how criminal activity triggers wanted status or how law enforcement responds.

Rockstar’s August 27, 2026 extended-look announcement and the reviewed official pages do not establish the wanted-system rules. Trailer scenes should not be treated as proof of specific police AI or pursuit mechanics.

The reviewed official material does not say what happens when a player becomes wanted. It does not establish whether a familiar star system returns or how police find, pursue, or search for the player. The status of each major question is:

Is GTA 6’s wanted system like GTA V?

GTA 6 release and platform context
As of October 7, 2026, GTA VI is upcoming. The Rockstar Store lists November 19, 2026 as the release date. Rockstar Customer Support’s platforms, editions, and versions page, last updated August 18, 2026, lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with Standard and Ultimate editions.

Rockstar says the boxed physical version contains a download code and no disc. “Physical version” therefore does not mean a game disc.
When will the wanted-system details be known?
The reviewed official sources do not provide a date for a wanted-system explanation. For a reliable answer, look for a future Rockstar announcement that describes the mechanics directly; until then, wanted-level counts, police tactics, and escape rules remain unconfirmed.
