Google Play’s wishlist is a saved list of apps, games, books and other eligible digital content that you may want to install or buy later. Saving an item does not download it or reserve its current price; it simply keeps a reminder with quick Install or Buy actions.
On Android, add an item from its details page with Add to wishlist, then open Profile picture > Library > Wishlist to see saved titles. On the web, open play.google.com and choose My wishlist. Optional wishlist notifications can alert you when prices drop.

What the Google Play wishlist is
Google describes the wishlist as a list of apps and digital content you want to install or buy on Google Play. It is a tracking and planning feature, not an automatic download queue. A saved app remains in the list until you install it, remove it, or clear the list; Google does not install wishlist items in the background.

The feature belongs to Google Play’s digital storefront, which covers apps, games, books and other digital content. It is not a general shopping list for physical products. The exact titles and actions available can depend on the content type, your account, country and the current Play Store or Play Books version.

How to add an app or other item on Android
Use the item’s details page
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Search for an app, game or other eligible content, or browse through a category.
- Tap the item to open its details page.
- Tap Add to wishlist at the top of the page.
The button changes to Added to wishlist after the save succeeds. Tapping that changed button removes the item from your wishlist.
Use the press-and-hold shortcut
You can also press and hold an item on the Play home screen, a category page or a search-results page. Tap Add to wishlist in the menu that appears. This shortcut avoids opening the full details page and is useful when you are browsing several candidates.
What a successful save means
A saved item is associated with your Google Play account, so you can return to the wishlist instead of searching again. It does not download the app, start a purchase, claim a licence or lock in the displayed price. You still have to choose Install or Buy later.
Where to find your saved items
Android Play Store
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Tap your profile picture.
- Choose Library.
- Tap Wishlist.
The wishlist view provides the saved entries and the actions available for each one. Depending on the item, you can check its current price, choose Buy, or tap Install.

Web browser
On a computer or mobile browser, go to play.google.com and open My wishlist. The web view is useful when you are already comparing titles in a browser, while the Android path is integrated into the Play Store app.
Google Play Books
Books may also appear in the Wishlist tab of the Google Play Books app. If a book is missing from one view, check that you are signed in to the same Google account and look in the Play Books wishlist tab as well as the Play Store library.
What the wishlist can save
Google’s documented categories include Games, Apps, Books and Play Pass items. The wishlist therefore works across several kinds of digital content rather than only Android applications.

- Apps: free or paid Android applications you may install later.
- Games: game listings you want to revisit or purchase.
- Books: digital books, including titles tracked through Google Play Books.
- Play Pass items: eligible content associated with the Play Pass catalogue.
Availability is not guaranteed for every Play content type in every country. A listing can also change price, become unavailable, or be removed after you save it. Treat the wishlist as a reminder, not as a promise that the title will remain purchasable.

Filters and actions in the wishlist
The wishlist can be filtered by Games, Apps, Books or Play Pass. Filtering is helpful when a long list contains several kinds of content and you want to check only one category.
From an entry, the available action depends on its status and your account. A paid title can show its current Buy option; an installable title can show Install. Because prices and availability can change, check the item’s current details page before completing a purchase.
How wishlist notifications can reduce the price you pay
Turn on wishlist notifications
- Open the Google Play Store and tap your profile picture.
- Choose Settings.
- Open General.
- Tap Notifications.
- Enable Wishlist.
The notification setting is optional. When enabled, it is intended to notify you about price drops on wishlisted content. It does not automatically buy the item, and it does not guarantee that every saved title will generate an alert.

Google Play Books Product Manager Cullen Rotroff wrote on March 27, 2023 that when you wishlist a book in the Play Books Android app, you will receive a notification if the book’s price drops. The same guidance says to opt in to notifications to take advantage of sales on wishlisted titles.

That statement concerns books and the Play Books Android experience. Notification delivery can vary by title, account, country and current app version, so an alert should be treated as an opportunity to recheck the listing rather than a guaranteed sale schedule.
What a price alert does not do
- It does not reserve the lower price for a fixed period.
- It does not complete checkout for you.
- It does not mean every wishlisted item is discounted.
- It does not prevent the price or availability from changing again.
Open the notification, verify the current price and edition, and complete the purchase only if the offer still suits you.
How to remove one item
Open the item’s details page in the Play Store and tap Added to wishlist. The item is removed immediately from the saved list. This is the safest option when you want to keep the rest of your wishlist intact.
How to clear the entire wishlist
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Tap your profile picture.
- Choose Settings.
- Open General.
- Tap Account and device preferences.
- Choose Clear wishlist.
- Confirm the action when prompted.
Google warns that you cannot undo this action. If you might want any saved title later, remove entries individually instead of using the clear-all command.

The Android app has the clearest documented controls for adding, removing and clearing entries. The web page is primarily a convenient place to view and act on saved content from a browser.
Common problems and practical fixes
The Add to wishlist button is missing
- Confirm that you opened an individual item’s details page, or press and hold the item from a supported home, category or search screen.
- Check that you are signed in to the Google account whose wishlist you intend to use.
- Some content types or countries may not expose the same wishlist controls.
The saved item is not visible
- Open Profile picture > Library > Wishlist and check the relevant category filter.
- For books, check the Wishlist tab in Google Play Books.
- Verify that the Play Store or Play Books app is using the same account that saved the item.
A price-drop notification never arrived
- Check Profile picture > Settings > General > Notifications > Wishlist and enable the setting.
- Remember that alerts are optional and are not promised for every title.
- Recheck the listing manually because notification behavior can vary by title, account, country and app version.
The item changed after you saved it
Wishlisting does not freeze a price, edition or availability. Open the current listing before buying or installing and confirm that it is still the content you intended to save.
A simple way to use the wishlist well
- Save while browsing: add interesting apps, games or books instead of downloading or buying immediately.
- Review by category: use the Games, Apps, Books or Play Pass filter to focus your next decision.
- Enable alerts deliberately: turn on Wishlist notifications if lower prices matter to you.
- Recheck before acting: verify the current price, edition and availability on the details page.
- Clean up selectively: remove individual entries you no longer want; use Clear wishlist only when you accept permanent deletion.
The result is a lightweight planning list: it keeps digital purchases and installations in one place, offers shortcuts when you are ready, and can surface some price reductions without downloading or buying anything automatically.
