The beyerdynamic DT 275 PRO is a wired monitoring headphone, not a headset with a built-in microphone. Its published specifications list no microphone, headset-mic input, sidetone, or monitor-mix control. To record speech, connect a separate microphone to a camera, recorder, audio interface, or mixer; to hear yourself, that device must route the mic signal to its headphone output.
Does the DT 275 PRO have a microphone?
No built-in microphone is listed for the DT 275 PRO. beyerdynamic describes it as a closed, on-ear monitoring headphone and specifies “Without Remote”; its published feature list does not identify a microphone or headset-mic input. That means it is designed to play audio into your ears, not capture your voice. The manufacturer’s product page and catalog distinguish headphones from products explicitly described as headsets with microphones. beyerdynamic’s DT 275 PRO listing and headphones-and-headsets catalog are the relevant product references.

This is a conclusion from the manufacturer’s public description, not a claim that no third-party add-on could ever be adapted. The documented DT 275 PRO configuration itself is headphone-only. If you need to transmit your voice on a call or record it, plan on a separate microphone and a device that can accept its signal.
What “monitoring” means with these headphones
Monitoring means listening to an audio signal supplied by connected equipment. The DT 275 PRO receives audio over its wired connection and reproduces it through closed on-ear earcups. You can listen to a camera’s incoming audio, a recorder’s playback, a console’s cue feed, or another device’s output, provided the connection and output are compatible.

The connected equipment must capture the microphone signal and send it to the headphone output. If you want to hear both your mic and other audio, that equipment must also combine or route those signals appropriately. Whether you hear yourself live, whether playback is mixed in, and how much delay you experience depend on the connected device and its settings. beyerdynamic does not document a mic preamp, zero-latency mic monitoring, sidetone, or monitor-mix knob in the DT 275 PRO itself. The product specifications describe the headphone, not a monitoring mixer.

How to hear a microphone through the DT 275 PRO
You do not plug a microphone into the DT 275 PRO. Connect the microphone to equipment that can accept it, then connect the headphones to that equipment’s headphone output. The exact connector, adapter, input type, and routing steps depend on your camera, recorder, interface, or mixer; the product information does not establish a universal setup or exact menu path.

- Choose a device that accepts your microphone. Confirm that the camera, recorder, interface, or mixer has an input suitable for that mic. The DT 275 PRO does not supply the mic input or preamp.
- Connect the microphone to that device. Follow the mic and device makers’ instructions for the relevant input and any required powering or setup. Do not assume the headphone’s plug can serve as a microphone connection.
- Connect the headphones to the device’s headphone output. The DT 275 PRO has a 3.5 mm mini stereo jack plug and includes a 6.35 mm (1/4-inch) adapter according to the manufacturer. Check the output’s connector and device instructions rather than forcing a plug or adapter that does not fit.
- Enable or select monitoring on the connected device, if needed. Some devices may provide a direct or live input-monitoring route; others may have different controls or may not provide the monitoring behavior you want. Look for the device’s monitoring or headphone-routing controls in its own manual.
- Set a safe listening level and test the route. Speak into the mic and confirm that the expected signal reaches the headphones. If you hear only playback, inspect the device’s input and headphone routing; if you hear no sound at all, check the headphone connection and output selection as well.
A camera, recorder, audio interface, mixing console, or DJ mixer are among the workflows beyerdynamic identifies for the DT 275 PRO. That list describes intended connection contexts, not a guarantee that every model of those devices provides live mic monitoring or accepts every microphone. Check the DT 275 PRO product listing for its published headphone connection details, and consult the connected device’s documentation for routing.
Can you use the DT 275 PRO for calls?
You can use it to listen to call audio if the call device can send sound to its wired headphone output and you have a compatible connection. But the DT 275 PRO does not provide the microphone needed to send your voice back. For a two-way call, use a separate microphone connected to the computer, phone, interface, or other call device, or choose a headset that includes a mic. The call device—not the headphones—must select and route the microphone.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Connector compatibility matters: the DT 275 PRO’s listed plug is a 3.5 mm stereo headphone plug, with a 6.35 mm adapter. That alone does not establish compatibility with every phone or computer port, combination headset jack, USB adapter, or wireless device. Some devices require a separate compatible adapter or audio interface; check the device documentation before buying an accessory. The headphone’s “Without Remote” specification also means the listing does not promise an inline call microphone or remote control.

| Specification | Manufacturer-published value or description | What it means for setup |
|---|---|---|
| Design | Wired, closed, on-ear monitoring headphone | It receives a wired audio feed; it is not documented as a microphone-equipped headset. |
| Remote | Without Remote | The listed configuration does not specify an inline remote or mic. |
| Nominal impedance | 45 ohms | A specification to consider alongside the output device; it does not guarantee a particular volume from every source. |
| Weight | 195 g without cable | The manufacturer’s figure excludes the cable. |
| Frequency response | 5–24,000 Hz | Published headphone response specification. |
| Nominal sound pressure level | 105 dB | Published nominal figure, not a promise of identical output on every device. |
| Plug and adapter | 3.5 mm mini stereo jack plug; 6.35 mm (1/4-inch) adapter | Check which headphone output your equipment has before connecting. |
| Cable | Detachable locking cable; connection can be made at either earcup | The cable is designed to lock in, and the maker lists either-side connection. |
These are beyerdynamic’s published specifications, not independent measurements. The impedance and sensitivity figures should not be treated as a volume guarantee: actual level depends on the source output and its configuration. The manufacturer describes passive noise isolation and balanced tuning for monitoring, but those descriptions are not independent laboratory results. See the official North American product listing for the source specifications.

Why choose the DT 275 PRO for monitoring?
beyerdynamic positions the DT 275 PRO for video shoots, front-of-house (FOH) work, side-stage use, livestreaming, DJ cueing, and mobile audio jobs. Its closed design and passive isolation are intended to help the listener monitor in loud environments; the headphones do not actively remove environmental sound or create a voice-monitoring mix. If your task is to hear a feed clearly while moving between locations or working near a stage, those are the use cases the manufacturer emphasizes.
Its swiveling earcups, low weight, locking detachable cable, and replaceable ear pads, headband padding, and cable are practical serviceability and mobile-work features. They can matter when equipment is handled frequently, but they do not change the basic signal path: a separate device still has to supply the audio, and a separate mic is still needed for speech capture.
How it differs from nearby beyerdynamic models
The manufacturer positions related models around different forms and workflows. These are maker descriptions rather than independent comparative test results.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches| Model | Manufacturer-described positioning | Distinction from DT 275 PRO |
|---|---|---|
| DT 275 PRO | Compact, closed, on-ear monitoring for video shoots, live sound, DJ cueing, and mobile audio work | Headphones without a documented built-in mic or remote. |
| DT 270 PRO | Over-ear headphone for practice, recording, podcasts, and indoor studio work | Different fit and intended-use emphasis, according to the manufacturer. |
| DJ 300 PRO X | DJ performance headphone with interchangeable on-ear and over-ear pads and customization features | The manufacturer says its detachable cable is compatible with the DT 275 PRO. |
If voice capture is essential, compare products by whether they actually include a microphone, not just by the word “monitoring” in the product description. If you already own the DT 275 PRO, assess the separate microphone and monitoring facilities of your recording or call equipment before replacing the headphones. beyerdynamic’s DT 275 PRO page supplies the model positioning and cable compatibility statement.
Troubleshooting: why can’t I hear myself?
- You can hear playback but not your voice: the headphone output is working, but the connected equipment may not be routing the mic input to it. Check the input selection and monitoring route on the camera, recorder, interface, or mixer.
- You hear neither the mic nor playback: check that the equipment is sending audio to the output you used, that the headphone plug or adapter matches, and that the cable is fully connected. The DT 275 PRO cable locks in; avoid pulling it without releasing the connection as intended.
- You hear your voice only after recording: the device may provide playback monitoring without live input monitoring. The headphones cannot add a live route; check whether the connected equipment supports direct or live monitoring.
- Your voice is missing on a call: select a separate microphone as the call input on the call device. The DT 275 PRO is only the listening output in this setup.
- The result is too quiet or distorted: check the connected device’s headphone level and input gain, and verify routing and connection compatibility. Published impedance and sound-pressure specifications do not guarantee a specific loudness with every source.
What to check before choosing headphones for this workflow
- Voice capture: Does the product include a microphone, or will you connect a separate one?
- Live voice monitoring: Is sidetone or direct mic monitoring provided by the headphones, or does the recorder/interface/mixer have to provide it?
- Environment and fit: Do you need the DT 275 PRO’s on-ear form and manufacturer-described passive isolation, or would another fit be more suitable?
- Connections: Does the headphone plug or supplied adapter match the output, and does the cable arrangement work for your setup?
- Serviceability: Are replaceable pads, headband padding, and a detachable cable useful for your work?
These checks separate two jobs that product names can blur: headphones reproduce what the equipment sends, while a microphone captures speech and the connected equipment determines whether that speech is sent back to the headphones.
