BLK works through a simple sequence: browse profiles, like or pass, then chat in the app if you and another person both like each other. You can use BLK without a subscription; paid tiers add features such as unlimited likes, boosts, filters, and messaging before a match. What is included—and what it costs—can vary by offer, region, and app version.
How does BLK work?
BLK describes itself as a dating community for Black singles. Its U.S. App Store listing says the app presents a personalized list of profiles each day, which you can adjust based on whom and what you are looking for. The product positioning describes BLK’s intended community; it does not mean every member or experience is the same.

What do BLK’s paid tiers add?
BLK describes several paid benefits. The precise tier names and feature availability may differ by market or app version, so treat the published lists as descriptions—not a guarantee that every current account sees the same offer.

BLK’s Help Center FAQ also lists a monthly boost, five weekly Super Likes, unlimited likes, and unlimited rewinds. | The published Premium lists do not describe a feature for messaging before matching. |
| Elite | The U.S. App Store listing describes Premium benefits plus the ability to see who has liked you. | Not stated in the cited tier description. |
| Platinum | BLK’s Help Center calls this its highest tier and lists advanced filters, read receipts, priority likes, and free notes that let you message before matching, in addition to Elite and Premium features. | Yes; the Help Center says free notes let you message before matching. |

What should you know about profile privacy and safety?
Choose public profile details carefully
BLK says users choose whether to share sensitive information such as sexual orientation, gender identity, race or ethnicity, political opinions, and religious beliefs. Information you put in a public profile is visible to other BLK users. BLK says you can update your profile or close your account to stop sharing that information; review what you have made visible before publishing or changing your profile. See the BLK Help Center explanation of information collection.
Keep identifying information private
BLK’s safety tips advise against sharing details such as your Social Security number, home or work address, or predictable daily routine with people you do not know. The company also warns that someone with bad intentions may try to move a conversation quickly to text, email, phone, or another messaging service. Staying in the app does not guarantee safety; use your judgment and do not share information that could put you at risk.

BLK says some updates are being tested with a smaller group before wider release. Its Help Center describes a test that lets some users view all likes without a subscription, so that feature should not be assumed to be available to everyone. BLK also says it is removing the social tab that previously let users choose between finding friends and dating, and moving a control to the profile edit page. Availability can depend on the rollout; check your current app and its profile-edit and subscription screens for the options on your account. See BLK’s app update notice.
