Sennheiser announced the HDB 630 on October 8, 2025, as a wireless headphone designed to bring an audiophile-oriented listening experience beyond a wired setup. Its recipe combines a 42 mm dynamic transducer, a MOMENTUM 4-derived chassis and customizable sound with noise cancellation, transparency mode and a supplied USB-C Bluetooth transmitter. Those are the company’s design goals and specifications—not independent proof that every listener will hear or experience the same results.

What Sennheiser set out to make

Sennheiser positioned the HDB 630 for listeners who want wireless convenience without giving up the kind of sound quality they associate with wired headphones. At launch, Senior Product Manager Wee Hong Kuan described the goal as giving audiophiles a way to enjoy their accustomed level of quality everywhere, while pairing fidelity with customization. That statement explains the product’s intent; it is not a controlled comparison with wired headphones.

The company announced the headphones on October 8, 2025, at a US MSRP of $499.95 and said shipments would begin October 21 through its website and authorized dealers. Those are launch-era details, not a current price or stock check.

How the design supports that aim

Driver and acoustic system

Sennheiser says the HDB 630 uses a 42 mm dynamic transducer made at its facility in Tullamore, Ireland. The headphones use a chassis inherited from the MOMENTUM 4, with a customized acoustic system and acoustic treatments. The company presents these choices as the foundation for the HDB 630’s sound; the available specifications do not establish an independent measurement of its acoustic performance.

#1 Best Overall
Sennheiser HDB 630 Wireless Audiophile Headphones with Incl. Hi-Res Dongle | Included BTD 700 for high resolution audio, parametric EQ in-app and crossfeed function.
  • Audiophile tuning: Sennheiser’s in-house 42 mm transducer and refined acoustic design deliver a neutral audiophile sound with lifelike mids, stunning detail, and a wide, natural soundstage. With minimal digital processing ensuring pure fidelity true to the original recording.
  • Wireless or wired: Enjoy high-resolution wireless sound with support for aptX HD and aptX Adaptive, especially when paired with the included BTD 700 Bluetooth adapter. For maximum purity, connect via USB-C for lossless listening up to 24-bit/96 kHz.
  • Parametric EQ: Expert-level equalization lets you define frequency bands, widths, and filters to precisely shape your sound. Tailor bass, enhance vocals, or fine-tune for any genre, just like a mastering engineer.
  • Adaptive ANC & Transparency Mode: Powerful noise cancellation blocks distractions without degrading clarity, dynamics, or balance. Transparency Mode instantly lets in surrounding sounds when you need to stay aware.
  • Listen for days, not hours: A class-leading 60-hour battery keeps you going through long trips or work weeks. Just 10 minutes of fast charging adds up to 7 hours of playtime, ideal for when you’re on the move.

Sound customization

The product’s customization is part of its pitch to listeners who want to shape the presentation rather than accept only one fixed tuning. TechRadar reported positive impressions of the sound-customization options. That is a reviewer’s assessment, not a guarantee that a particular setting will suit every listener.

Wireless, wired and high-resolution connections

The HDB 630 supports aptX HD and aptX Adaptive, according to Sennheiser’s product page. The headphones use Bluetooth 5.2. The included BTD 700 USB-C transmitter uses Bluetooth 5.4, giving the bundle a way to connect to compatible USB-C devices; it is supplied with the headphones rather than being a required separate purchase.

  • NOISE CANCELLING HEADPHONES: Enjoy Bose’s best noise cancellation for headphones with Quiet Mode, turn on Aware Mode to hear more of your surroundings, or combine noise cancellation and Bose Immersive Audio with Immersion Mode.
  • NEW CINEMA MODE: Bring video content to life like never before with Cinema Mode; spatialize and balance background sound and sound effects for movie-like immersion wherever you go.
  • USB VOICE: Use the built-in mic to enjoy high-quality two-way communication for phone calls and video conferencing while connected via USB-C.
  • ENHANCED LONG-LASTING BATTERY: Up to 30 hours of play time (23 with Immersive Audio)* keeps the music playing through even the longest listening sessions. Charge your headphones with the included USB-C cord and listen to music at the same time.

For wired listening, Sennheiser lists USB-C and analog input, with support up to 24-bit/96 kHz. The box includes both a USB-C cable and a 3.5 mm cable. Which wireless codec is actually used depends on the source device and its compatibility; a codec listed for the headphones does not mean every phone, computer or player will transmit in that format.

Features and what comes in the box

The HDB 630 includes active noise cancellation (ANC), a transparency mode, and microphones for calls. Sennheiser advertises up to 60 hours of battery life and says a 10-minute quick charge provides seven hours of listening. These are manufacturer-stated figures; actual runtime can vary with use and settings.

What reviews say about sound, ANC and comfort

What Hi-Fi? recommends the HDB 630 for audiophile-oriented wireless listening and praises its sound, while describing ANC as “good” rather than “great.” Its 2026 roundup lists battery life as 60 hours, or 45 hours with the dongle. These are editorial descriptions and specifications in a roundup, not results from a shared controlled test described in the available coverage.

TechRadar reports that the headphones were comfortable during longer listening sessions and gives a positive account of sound customization. Its reviewer nevertheless preferred the lighter, more comfortable Sony WH-1000XM6. Comfort is personal, so that comparison should be read as one reviewer’s preference rather than a universal fit verdict.

Who the HDB 630 is for

The HDB 630 is aimed at listeners who prioritize sound and tuning flexibility in a wireless over-ear headphone, while also wanting ANC, call support and the option to listen over USB-C or an analog cable. The included transmitter and cables make the package more connection-flexible than a headphone sold alone, though wireless codec support still depends on the playback device.

It is a less obvious fit for someone whose leading priorities are the strongest possible ANC or the lightest, most comfortable design: What Hi-Fi? calls its ANC good rather than great, and TechRadar’s reviewer preferred another model for weight and comfort. Those caveats sit alongside—not in place of—the positive sound judgments from both publications.
