SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog “Infinite Blue” is a numbered porcelain sculpture, not a mug or other functional pottery. Its making combines digital sculpting and Hizen Yoshida ware techniques by 224porcelain with hand-painted decoration and finishing by Ri-Sho Kiln. The overseas price announced by its maker is USD 7,000 before duties, tax, and shipping; the Japan listing is ¥1,000,000 including tax and shipping.
What the Sonic “Infinite Blue” piece is
“Infinite Blue” is an Arita porcelain art object announced for Sonic the Hedgehog’s 35th anniversary. SEGA lists it at 15.6 cm wide × 22.8 cm deep × 21.3 cm high. Each purchase is announced to include the sculpture, a certificate, a base, and a wooden box. SEGA’s Sonic Channel listing and the maker’s October 2, 2026 announcement identify the material as Arita porcelain.

The maker describes the concept as expressing Sonic’s “fastest blue” through the enduring blue gosu associated with Japanese porcelain. That is a rendering of the announcement’s Japanese promotional wording, not a verbatim English quote.

224porcelain develops the sculptural form
224porcelain is credited with the form, combining Hizen Yoshida ware tradition with digital techniques, including 3D printing. The maker says the sculpture’s long, thin extensions make firing especially challenging: uneven thickness can contribute to cracking or breakage, while firing shrinkage can warp the shape. It reports repeated adjustments to the design data and molds, along with firing tests, to balance the flowing silhouette with strength.

Ri-Sho Kiln paints and finishes the piece
Ri-Sho Kiln handles painting and finishing. The maker describes an underglaze process: outlines are drawn with a fine brush, then gosu blue pigment is built up in layers. The studio combines gosu pigments to evoke deep indigo while aiming for a brighter Sonic blue.

Why the announced price differs by region
| Market | Announced price | What the listed price includes |
|---|---|---|

| Japan | ¥1,000,000 | Tax and shipping are included, according to SEGA’s Sonic Channel listing and the maker’s announcement. |
These are different regional offers, not directly equivalent totals. An overseas buyer should account for applicable duties, tax, and shipping; the announcement does not establish a single landed cost for every destination. The price reflects a limited, made-to-order porcelain sculpture and its labor-intensive forming and decoration, but the maker has not supplied a cost breakdown.
