How Robinhood Chain Compares With Ethereum and Other EVM Networks for Transfers

Robinhood Chain is an Ethereum Layer 2, not Ethereum mainnet. It is built with Arbitrum technology, uses Ethereum for data availability, and accepts ETH for gas. Because it is EVM-compatible, familiar wallets and 0x-style addresses can work, but a transfer is not automatically cross-chain: you must select Robinhood Chain, use a supported asset, and choose a bridge or exchange route that actually connects the two networks.

The practical difference is timing and settlement. Robinhood documents its canonical Ethereum bridge at about 10 minutes for a deposit and a roughly seven-day challenge period for a withdrawal, followed by a separate claim transaction on Ethereum. Partner routes can settle in seconds or minutes, but availability, token representation, fees and trust assumptions differ by route.

Robinhood Chain versus Ethereum at a glance

For transfers, the most important distinction is whether you are moving an asset natively on one network or using infrastructure that carries value between networks. Ethereum mainnet, Robinhood Chain and other EVM-compatible networks use similar wallet conventions, yet each has its own chain identifier, gas market, token contracts and supported bridges.

Network or route What it is Transfer implication
Ethereum mainnet The Layer 1 settlement network on which Robinhood Chain is built Ethereum gas is required for transactions and for claiming canonical withdrawals.
Robinhood Chain An Arbitrum Layer 2 using Ethereum blobs for data availability Uses chain ID 4663 and ETH as its native gas token; it is a separate network from Ethereum mainnet.
Canonical bridge The native Ethereum-to-Robinhood Chain bridge described as trustless and secured by Ethereum Deposits are documented at about 10 minutes; withdrawals include a seven-day challenge period and an Ethereum claim.
Partner bridges and aggregators Services such as LayerZero/Stargate, Chainlink CCIP/Transporter, Relay, Across and LiFi/0x Potentially seconds to minutes, but only for supported assets and routes and with different settlement models.

There is no published, independent apples-to-apples comparison of Robinhood Chain fees, throughput or finality against Ethereum mainnet and every other EVM network. Treat route-specific estimates as documentation guidance, not as a benchmark or guarantee.

What Robinhood Chain is and why EVM compatibility matters

An Ethereum Layer 2, not a second Ethereum address space

Robinhood’s developer documentation describes Robinhood Chain as an Arbitrum Layer 2 built on Ethereum. Transaction data availability uses Ethereum blobs, while execution occurs on the Layer 2. This design is intended to retain a connection to Ethereum security while processing activity on a separate chain.

Robinhood Chain’s current mainnet chain ID is 4663. Its native currency symbol is ETH, so ETH pays transaction fees on Robinhood Chain even when the application you are using is branded differently. The network lists Blockscout as its explorer.

What EVM compatibility does—and does not—provide

EVM compatibility means Ethereum-oriented software can understand the network’s transaction format and smart-contract environment. An EVM wallet can generally add the network, display a 0x address and sign a transaction. It does not make an Ethereum token balance appear on Robinhood Chain, and it does not make a bridge unnecessary.

  • The same 0x address may exist on several networks, but balances are network-specific.
  • A token with the same ticker can have a different contract address, issuer or risk profile on each chain.
  • A transfer form must identify the source network, destination network and token representation.
  • Sending on the wrong network can require a recovery procedure, and recovery may be impossible if the receiving service does not support that chain.

Set up a wallet connection correctly

Network details to verify

Before signing anything, check that your wallet shows Robinhood Chain rather than Ethereum mainnet or another Layer 2. Use the current network settings published by Robinhood, including chain ID 4663, ETH as the currency and the listed public RPC. Public RPC endpoints can change, so copy the current value from Robinhood’s network-connection instructions instead of relying on an old screenshot or manually guessed URL.

Adding the network

  1. Open the network selector in your EVM wallet and choose the option to add a custom or supported network.
  2. Enter the current Robinhood Chain name, RPC endpoint, chain ID 4663, currency symbol ETH and Blockscout explorer address exactly as documented.
  3. Save the network, switch to it and confirm that the wallet displays the expected 0x account.
  4. Send a small test amount first. Confirm the transaction on the Robinhood Chain explorer before transferring the full balance.

Robinhood Wallet supports the chain, and Robinhood says other EVM wallets can connect. A wallet connection alone does not confirm that a particular bridge, token or exchange supports deposits and withdrawals on this network.

Moving funds with the canonical Ethereum bridge

The canonical bridge is the native route between Ethereum and Robinhood Chain. Robinhood describes it as trustless, without third-party validators, with security inherited from Ethereum. Its timing is asymmetric: moving onto Robinhood Chain is much quicker than returning to Ethereum.

Ethereum to Robinhood Chain (deposit)

  1. Connect an EVM wallet to the canonical bridge interface and select Ethereum as the source and Robinhood Chain as the destination.
  2. Select an asset supported by the bridge. Check the exact token contract and destination representation before approving the transaction.
  3. Keep enough ETH on Ethereum to pay the approval and deposit transactions. Some tokens require a separate approval before the bridge deposit.
  4. Review the destination chain, recipient address, amount and estimated fee, then approve the token and submit the deposit.
  5. Wait for the bridge to process the message. Robinhood documents a typical deposit time of about 10 minutes; congestion, finality and contract conditions can make the actual time longer.
  6. Switch the wallet to Robinhood Chain and confirm the received balance and transaction status in the explorer.

Robinhood Chain to Ethereum (withdrawal)

  1. Open the canonical bridge and select Robinhood Chain as the source and Ethereum as the destination.
  2. Confirm that the token is the canonical bridged representation and that the Ethereum recipient address is correct.
  3. Submit the withdrawal and retain the transaction hash. The bridge enters a challenge period rather than delivering the funds immediately.
  4. Allow the documented challenge period of about seven days to elapse. This is a protocol window, not a promise that every withdrawal completes at exactly seven days.
  5. After the challenge period, initiate the separate claim transaction on Ethereum. You need ETH on Ethereum for this Layer 1 transaction.
  6. Verify the claimed token on Ethereum before using or sending it onward.

For canonical ERC-20 transfers, the token contract on Robinhood Chain differs from the token’s Ethereum contract. Do not paste an Ethereum contract address into a Robinhood Chain token import field unless the documentation confirms that it is the correct representation.

Faster partner routes and how they differ

Robinhood’s bridge documentation lists several partner routes. Their quoted speed reflects route design and source-chain finality, not a universal property of Robinhood Chain. A route may combine messaging, liquidity, a swap or an intent to execute several actions on your behalf.

Route Mechanism described by Robinhood Documented timing What to verify
LayerZero OFT / Stargate Omnichain messaging and token transfers Minutes, depending on source-chain finality Whether the asset is an eligible OFT and whether the direction is supported.
Chainlink CCIP / Transporter Cross-chain messaging and token transfers Minutes, depending on source-chain finality The exact token and lane; SyrupUSDG is given as an example, not a promise of universal support.
Relay Intents-based bridge, including bridge-and-execute flows Seconds in the documentation’s estimate Quoted route, execution target, fees and the asset delivered at the destination.
Across Intents-based bridge using available liquidity Seconds in the documentation’s estimate Current route availability, supported token and any liquidity or fee conditions.
LiFi / 0x Cross-chain swap aggregation that may combine a swap and bridge Seconds to minutes in the documentation’s estimate Whether you are receiving the same asset or a swapped asset, plus total slippage and fees.

Partner routes can be useful when a seven-day canonical withdrawal is unacceptable, but speed is only one decision factor. Compare the route’s security model, source and destination finality, liquidity provider or relayer assumptions, token contract, quoted amount, fees and what happens if an intermediate step fails.

Which assets can currently move on Robinhood Chain?

Robinhood’s current crypto-transfer help material names three Robinhood Chain transfer assets: Ethereum (ETH), Global Dollar (USDG) and Cash Cat (CASHCAT). The list is subject to change and may differ between an in-app transfer screen, a bridge and a third-party service.

The 0x format of a destination address does not prove that the asset is supported. Before sending, select Robinhood Chain in the sending interface and confirm that the exact asset appears as an available deposit. If it does not, do not substitute a similarly named token or copy a contract address from another network.

How transfers compare with Ethereum and other EVM networks

Fees

Robinhood’s published material does not provide a fixed network fee or an independent comparison with Ethereum mainnet, Arbitrum-based networks or other EVM chains. Your total cost can include source-chain gas, destination-chain gas, token approval, bridge or relayer fees, a swap spread and, for a canonical withdrawal, the later Ethereum claim transaction. A low displayed bridge fee is not the same as a low all-in cost.

Settlement and reversibility

Ethereum deposits into the canonical bridge are finalized through the bridge’s message process. Canonical withdrawals deliberately wait through a challenge period so an invalid state transition can be disputed. Partner bridges may rely on liquidity providers, relayers, messaging protocols or intents, so “seconds” describes delivery under the route’s conditions rather than the same security path as the canonical bridge.

Wallet and application support

Ethereum has the broadest wallet and application support. Robinhood Chain benefits from EVM tooling but is newer, so an exchange, hardware wallet or decentralized application can support Ethereum and still omit chain ID 4663. Check the receiving service’s network selector, not just whether it accepts an 0x address.

Token identity

On Ethereum, a token is identified by its Ethereum contract. On Robinhood Chain, the bridged representation has its own contract. Other EVM networks likewise use their own contracts. Always verify the contract, decimals and symbol shown by the destination application before trading or approving a token.

A safe decision process for choosing a route

  1. Define the direction. A deposit from Ethereum and a withdrawal back to Ethereum have different timing and gas requirements.
  2. Identify the exact asset. Match the token name, contract and destination representation; never rely on ticker symbols alone.
  3. Check support at both ends. Confirm that the wallet, exchange, bridge and destination application all list Robinhood Chain and the asset.
  4. Choose the security model. Use the canonical bridge when Ethereum-backed settlement and a trustless native route matter more than speed; consider a partner route only after understanding its mechanism.
  5. Calculate the all-in cost. Include approvals, source gas, bridge fees, slippage, destination gas and the Ethereum claim transaction where applicable.
  6. Test with a small amount. Keep enough ETH on the source chain for fees and, if withdrawing canonically, reserve ETH on Ethereum for the claim.
  7. Save transaction details. Keep the source hash, bridge status and destination hash until the balance is visible and spendable.

Troubleshooting common transfer failures

The balance is missing

First switch the wallet to the intended network. If the transaction is confirmed, import the destination token using the contract address supplied by the bridge or protocol. Do not import the Ethereum contract automatically; the bridged address can differ.

The transfer is pending longer than the estimate

Check source-chain finality, bridge status and the transaction hash in the relevant explorer. A documented “about 10 minutes” or “seconds” estimate is not a service-level guarantee. Do not submit a second transfer until you know whether the first one completed.

A canonical withdrawal appears complete but funds are not on Ethereum

Completion of the challenge period is not the final step. Use the bridge interface to submit the claim transaction on Ethereum and pay the required Layer 1 gas. Confirm that the claim transaction itself is mined.

The receiving service rejects the deposit

Stop sending additional funds. The service may support the 0x address format but not Robinhood Chain, the specific token or the bridged contract. Contact that service with the transaction hash and ask whether recovery is possible; recovery is not guaranteed.

Hardware wallets and self-custody

A hardware wallet can be an optional signing device for EVM transfers, but compatibility must be confirmed for the exact combination of device, wallet software and Robinhood Chain. General documentation for hardware wallets describes support for Ethereum and selected EVM networks; it does not establish Robinhood Chain support by itself. Verify chain ID 4663 and transaction-signing support before purchasing or moving funds. A hardware wallet also does not choose the bridge or validate a token contract for you.

Current status and what changed since the announcement

Robinhood announced a public testnet on February 10, 2026, describing Robinhood Chain as an Ethereum Layer 2 built on Arbitrum and saying that mainnet was planned for later in 2026. Current Robinhood help and developer documentation now publish mainnet network settings, bridge instructions and transfer guidance. Use those current configuration pages for a live transfer; treat the February announcement as historical context rather than current availability evidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I send an Ethereum transaction directly to Robinhood Chain without a bridge?

No. Ethereum and Robinhood Chain maintain separate balances. Use a supported canonical or partner route, or an exchange withdrawal that explicitly offers Robinhood Chain as the destination network.

Why does the same 0x address show different balances on different networks?

The address identifies your account, while each network maintains its own ledger. Assets only appear on the chain where they were sent, and bridged tokens use chain-specific contracts.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Is the seven-day canonical withdrawal period optional?

No. It is the documented challenge period for the native withdrawal path. A partner route may have different timing and assumptions, but it is a different mechanism.

What should I do before transferring USDG or CASHCAT?

Confirm that the current sending interface lists that exact asset with Robinhood Chain selected, then verify the destination network and token contract. Support can change over time.

Does an EVM hardware wallet automatically support Robinhood Chain?

No. Confirm explicit support for chain ID 4663 in both the hardware device’s software and the wallet interface before signing.
