ReSkate offers a community-made way to play skate. offline and join community multiplayer, but it is separate from EA’s official service. Steam rates the official game Unsupported on Steam Deck, and the available Deck example is one user’s report—not a compatibility guarantee.
Official skate. and ReSkate are different experiences
EA describes skate. as a free-to-play, online multiplayer skateboarding sandbox set in San Vansterdam. Its FAQ says: “The game and city are designed to be a living, breathing massively multiplayer skateboarding sandbox that is always online and always evolving.” EA therefore offers no official offline mode. The official service also requires persistent internet, an EA Account, and a Steam Account, according to the Steam listing.

ReSkate is an unaffiliated fan project, not an EA feature or an EA- or Full Circle-endorsed way to play. Its README says users need their own Steam copy of skate. and describes an alternate community experience built around the game files.

What ReSkate adds: offline play and community multiplayer
Offline profiles
ReSkate says it can run offline without EA servers. Skater, outfit, unlock, and progress information is stored locally; the README gives the profile location as %LOCALAPPDATA%ReSkateprofilesoffline. It also documents the launcher option --offline, which starts offline play without Steam running.

Online lobbies and dedicated servers
For community multiplayer, the project documents Steam lobbies of up to 32 players and dedicated-server joining through the in-game browser. These are ReSkate features described by its maintainers, not features or services provided by EA. The README also lists mods and a launcher.
What to expect on Steam Deck
Steam’s official listing currently labels skate. “Unsupported” for Steam Deck. That rating concerns the official Steam game; it does not establish whether a separate ReSkate setup will work.

A Steam Deck OLED community post reports ReSkate 1.0.3 running in SteamOS Gaming Mode with Proton Experimental and Steam Input. The poster describes copying a Windows ReSkate installation to the Deck, adding the launcher as a non-Steam game, and selecting Proton Experimental. This is one person’s setup report, not official SteamOS installation guidance or independent testing. It does not establish performance, stability, battery life, or compatibility with the LCD Deck.
How the project describes its setup
The documented installation route is for ReSkate generally, not a Deck-specific SteamOS procedure. The project says to download a release archive and extract ReSkateLauncher.exe and ReSkate.dll either beside Skate.exe in the Steam game folder or into an empty folder where the launcher can install the game.
Rank #3
- Get the ReSkate release archive from the project and extract the launcher and DLL to one of the documented locations.
- Run the launcher. Its README says it checks for ReSkate updates and verifies the game files against the currently supported build.
- If the required files are missing, follow the launcher’s prompts. The project says it may request Steam sign-in and download the needed files.
- Choose the documented offline option,
--offline, for offline play; use the project’s lobby or server options for community multiplayer.
The README names Steam build 25414733 as the supported build and says the project supports one game build at a time. It also estimates about 14 GB for a launcher-installed copy; that project estimate can change as the game changes. If skate. updates before ReSkate supports the new build, the launcher’s build check may prevent setup from working until the project updates its support.
Early Access and availability caveats
EA says skate. entered Early Access on September 16, 2025. EA lists PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, with Android and iOS to follow later; Steam lists the PC version as Early Access and says the developer has no fixed timeline for leaving it. Steam cautions that “Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further,” and its listing warns online features may be retired with notice. ReSkate’s build support and release details can also change, so its current README is the relevant place to check before setup.
