Relics are not guaranteed drops with fixed stats. In Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, you collect unidentified Relic spoils in Norgan, carry them to the Norgandian Settlement, and pay Jiera in Rift Crystals to appraise them. The result can have variable statistics, bonuses, effects, or vocation skills. Your Arisen’s and main Pawn’s vocations make matching weapons more likely, and buffs can narrow the result, but neither mechanic guarantees a particular item.
What the Relic system does
The Relic loop separates finding an item from learning what it is. Exploration in Norgan produces unidentified spoils rather than fully described weapons. Until Jiera appraises a spoil, you do not know its final equipment properties. Appraisal turns that spoil into identified gear that you can inspect, equip, store, or discard.

This is different from ordinary treasure collection. Pawns can still help with regular exploration: using the “Go!” command while exploring directs them toward nearby chests, mechanisms, gathering spots, or similar objects in the indicated direction. That command does not establish a Relic bonus or improve Relic drop odds. Relics use the unidentified-spoil and appraisal process instead.
How to get and appraise Relic spoils
1. Search Norgan for unidentified spoils
Fight enemies and investigate the region rather than relying on one activity. Current guide coverage reports unidentified spoils from enemies, chests, general exploration, and buried finds located with Freki. That is a guide-reported list, not a developer-published exhaustive drop table, so treat it as a practical set of places to look rather than a guarantee that every source produces a spoil on a fixed schedule.

Because the items are unidentified, inspect your inventory after a run and separate Relic spoils from ordinary equipment and materials. Do not assume that a high-value-looking item is already appraised gear.
2. Return to the Norgandian Settlement
Jiera performs the appraisal in the Norgandian Settlement. Unidentified spoils remain physical inventory items while you travel. The guide reports that they use inventory capacity and pawn carry weight before appraisal, so a long expedition can become an encumbrance problem even when the eventual equipment is valuable.
Plan a return trip before your party reaches its carry limit. Moving other goods to storage or having a pawn handle ordinary inventory tasks can create room, but those actions do not reveal a spoil’s Relic properties.

Select a spoil at Jiera and spend Rift Crystals to appraise it. Rift Crystals have other uses, including hiring pawns, so appraisal is a resource decision rather than an automatic action for every item you collect. The reviewed guide does not publish exact fees for each spoil tier; do not budget around an unverified price.
If you are short on Rift Crystals, keep unidentified spoils in storage and appraise the items most relevant to your current vocation or upgrade plan first. Waiting preserves the item; it does not turn it into a different guaranteed roll.

4. Inspect the identified gear
After appraisal, read the complete item panel before equipping anything. The guide describes possible variable stats, bonuses, special effects, and, in some cases, unique or upgraded vocation skills. It does not establish a complete affix catalogue or a confirmed reroll system. Keep, equip, sell, or store an item based on the properties actually displayed rather than on the spoil’s appearance or source.
How Relic weapon drops are weighted
Director Kento Kinoshita explained that the algorithm makes weapons associated with the player’s vocation and the main Pawn’s vocation more likely to appear. His wording is important: the system changes probability; it does not promise the matching weapon.

For example, playing a Fighter can make Fighter-associated weapons more likely, and choosing a main Pawn vocation that uses a different weapon can broaden the possible results. A buff can narrow the outcome further—for instance, making a Fighter’s sword easier to obtain—but a buff still cannot be treated as a guaranteed sword drop.

Are Relic stats random?
Available guide reporting describes appraised Relic gear as having variable stats, bonuses, special effects, and sometimes vocation skills. In practical terms, two spoils that appear to belong to the same general equipment category may not identify with identical properties.

What has not been established publicly is just as important. The reviewed material does not provide a complete bonus list, official tier-color chart, exact affix ranges, reroll instructions, pity rules, or a reliable method for reproducing one particular roll. Do not promise that a certain enemy, chest, or buff always produces a fixed bonus.
Use the in-game appraisal result as the authoritative description of an individual item. Save an unidentified spoil only when you have a reason to appraise it later; keeping it does not preserve a known future stat line, because that line has not yet been revealed.
How progression and map depth affect item level
Kinoshita said item levels are generally designed around the player’s progression and how deeply the party has travelled into the map. This means later, more advanced areas are intended to offer appropriately stronger opportunities than the earliest routes.
The system is not described as a rigid rule in which one area can drop only one level. Kinoshita also said that an item one level higher, or a rarer item, can sometimes appear when players reach a more advanced area and defeat its enemies. That exception should be read as possibility, not as a reliable early-game farming method. An occasional higher-level result does not mean that repeatedly clearing a starting zone will produce endgame gear.

What Rift Crystals and carry weight mean for your route
Rift Crystals are the bottleneck that turns a collected spoil into usable information. Since the same currency can be spent on hiring pawns, appraisal choices have an opportunity cost. Appraise items that fit your current build or that could replace a weak slot first, and defer low-priority spoils when your crystal reserve is needed elsewhere.

Carry weight matters before appraisal. Unidentified spoils count toward inventory and pawn loads according to the guide coverage. A route that yields many items can therefore fail through encumbrance before it fails through combat. Empty space before entering Norgan, return to the settlement when the party is near its limit, and avoid treating every ordinary loot pickup as part of the Relic chase.
Relics versus ordinary pawn treasure behavior
Dragon’s Dogma 2 has several systems that can look similar when you are searching for loot:
- Relic spoils: unidentified items found in Norgan and appraised by Jiera for Rift Crystals.
- Pawn exploration commands: the “Go!” command can direct pawns to nearby chests, mechanisms, gathering spots, and similar objects.
- Pawn inventory specializations: Capcom’s PS5 support information says Hawker or Logistician specializations can affect carried items, including receiving items and selling low-rarity items. If a pawn becomes forfeit, items held by that pawn are sent to storage.
Those ordinary inventory behaviors do not demonstrate higher Relic drop chances, better appraisal rolls, or a hidden Relic pity mechanic. Keep the systems separate when planning a farming route.
A practical Relic-hunting plan
- Set your target. Decide which vocation or equipment category would actually improve the party. This makes the vocation weighting useful without assuming a guaranteed reward.
- Check the active vocations. Your Arisen’s and main Pawn’s vocations influence which associated weapons are more likely. Change them only when the trade-off makes sense for the fight and your build.
- Use a narrowing buff when appropriate. A buff can make a category such as a Fighter sword easier to obtain, but keep expectations probabilistic.
- Explore multiple source types. Search enemies, chests, exploration routes, and reported buried finds with Freki. Do not treat any one source as an official guaranteed table.
- Manage weight during the run. Leave room for unidentified spoils and return to the Norgandian Settlement before the party becomes encumbered.
- Spend crystals selectively. At Jiera, appraise the spoils with the strongest connection to your current equipment needs while retaining enough Rift Crystals for other uses.
- Evaluate the revealed item. Compare the displayed stats, effects, bonuses, and skills with what you already use. Keep an item because of its actual roll, not because it came from a supposedly premium source.
Can Relics replace player skill?
No. Kinoshita described good Relics as an advantage while emphasizing that player skill remains important in combat. A stronger or more useful appraisal result can help with damage, survivability, or utility, but it does not remove the need to learn enemy patterns, position the party, manage stamina, and choose effective pawn commands.

- Exact drop percentages by enemy, chest, region, or spoil category.
- The odds of each vocation outcome or the numerical effect of a buff.
- A guaranteed vocation result, pity counter, or bad-luck protection.
- A complete list of stat ranges, affixes, colors, special effects, or vocation skills.
- Exact Rift Crystal appraisal fees for every tier.
- A confirmed reroll process or a way to lock and regenerate a desired result.
Until Capcom publishes those numbers or the live game clearly documents them, guides that present precise percentages or a complete tier chart should be treated as unverified. The reliable conclusions are the appraisal loop, vocation weighting, and broad progression relationship—not a deterministic farming formula.
Expansion and platform context
Capcom announced Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen as a paid expansion and listed PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The announcement said the Switch 2 version packages the main game and expansion together. Because package contents and store availability can vary by platform and change after an announcement, check the current listing for your region before buying; do not assume that every platform sells the same bundle.
Capcom reported 14 million cumulative units sold for the Dragon’s Dogma series as of March 31, 2026. That figure covers the series, not this expansion or a single game, so it does not predict Relic drop rates or the size of the active player population.

Collect unidentified spoils in Norgan, protect your carry capacity, and return to Jiera in the Norgandian Settlement when you are ready to spend Rift Crystals. Aligning the Arisen and main Pawn vocations—and using a suitable buff—improves the odds of seeing a desired weapon category, while progression and map depth generally influence item level. Appraisal remains probabilistic: variable stats and effects are possible, exact odds and fees are not publicly established, and no Relic should be treated as guaranteed until its properties are revealed in game.
