Check your PlayStation account’s country/region before buying: PlayStation says you can’t change it after account creation. The account region determines which Store you use, while disc-game DLC and prepaid vouchers have additional region-matching rules. Payment options and available content vary by country/region.
How to check your PlayStation account region
On the web, sign in to Account Management, select Your Information, then edit Residential Address. The country/region appears at the bottom. In the PlayStation App, open Account Information and then Residential Address.

PlayStation Support states, “You can’t change your account’s country/region after your account has been created.” If you are setting up an account, choose the country/region carefully; if you already have one, check its region before buying games, add-ons, or wallet codes.
What the account region changes about game purchases
PlayStation Store catalogs are regional: “Content and services available on PlayStation Store vary by country/region,” according to PlayStation Support. A title, add-on, subscription, or price shown in one country’s Store may not be available in another. Confirm availability and the displayed price in the Store associated with the account that will make the purchase.

- Use gift card funds to contribute towards PlayStationPlus memberships.
The regional account also determines which SIE company handles Store transactions under the US PlayStation Network Terms of Service. That is a US-specific example; consult the terms and Store for your own country/region.
Does DLC work with a disc from another region?
For a game on disc, PlayStation says an add-on cannot be used if the add-on’s country/region does not match the disc game’s country/region. This guidance concerns disc games; it should not be treated as a universal rule for every digital game.

Before buying DLC for a physical game, compare the disc game’s licensed region with the region of the account Store from which you plan to buy the add-on. Check the small print on the game box or ask the retailer to confirm the disc’s license region. PlayStation’s Singapore add-on troubleshooting guidance describes the disc-and-add-on region requirement.

Usually, no: PlayStation says voucher codes and the account country/region must match for successful activation. “Voucher codes and your account’s country/region must match to be activated successfully,” says PlayStation Support. For a physical voucher, check its printed country/region marking before buying or redeeming it.

US PlayStation terms also specify that a prepaid wallet card must have a currency value from the same country designated for the account. That is a US terms example, not a complete statement of voucher rules in every market; check the local Store’s voucher guidance.
Why might a payment card not work with your Store region?
A payment card registered in a different country from the account’s Store region may not link. Accepted payment methods differ by country/region, so a payment method listed for the US Store, for example, should not be assumed to work elsewhere.

If your card will not link, check the accepted payment methods for your local Store. PlayStation suggests trying another available payment method or adding funds with a wallet top-up code that matches the account region. Its card troubleshooting page provides US guidance; use the equivalent support page for your country/region.
How wallet funds work—and what to check first
Adult accounts have a wallet. Eligible payment methods and gift cards can be used to add funds, which are applied first to Store purchases. If the wallet does not cover the full amount, another payment method can cover the remainder where available. See PlayStation’s UAE wallet guidance for those mechanics and check your local Store terms for the rules that apply to you.

That UAE guidance says added funds cannot be refunded. Treat a top-up as money intended for Store spending, not as a balance you can assume is refundable or transferable; check your local terms before adding funds.
Which account gets access to a purchase?
Under the US PlayStation Network terms, confirmed purchases are accessible through the account used to order them, subject to applicable usage terms. The same terms warn that closing an account may result in loss of access. Do not assume purchases can be transferred to a different account or that access rules are identical in every jurisdiction; consult the terms for your country/region.
Quick Recap
Before buying, redeeming, or topping up
- Check the country/region of the account that will make the purchase.
- Confirm the game or add-on is listed in that account’s regional PlayStation Store.
- For DLC for a physical game, verify the disc’s licensed region on its packaging or with the retailer, then compare it with the account region.
- Before buying or redeeming a voucher, confirm its country/region matches the account.
- If a card from another country will not link, check the local Store’s accepted methods and consider an eligible alternative or a region-matched wallet top-up code.
- Review local wallet and refund terms before adding funds.
