Eligible creators can add YouTube Giving to a scheduled YouTube livestream so viewers can donate from the watch page or, with live chat enabled, from chat. First check that both the channel and the nonprofit qualify; those are separate requirements. Then create and publish the fundraiser in YouTube Studio before the event.
Check whether your channel can fundraise
YouTube lists four channel requirements for YouTube Giving:

- The channel is based in a location where YouTube Giving is available. The live list can change, so check the YouTube Giving FAQs and the channel’s Studio account; do not assume availability in a country that is not listed.
- The channel has at least 10,000 subscribers.
- The channel is in the YouTube Partner Program.
- The channel is not designated as made for kids.
YouTube notes that some channels outside these criteria may still see fundraising access. The practical check is YouTube Studio’s Earn > Giving area.

Channel access does not guarantee that a particular organization can receive donations through YouTube Giving. The recipient must be a US-registered 501(c)(3) public charity, be requested by a creator, opt in to online fundraising through GuideStar, comply with YouTube monetization policies, and participate in Google for Nonprofits. If the organization does not appear in the selection list, check its legal or DBA name and confirm the online-fundraising opt-in and Google for Nonprofits participation. Some requests to add an eligible nonprofit can take up to five business days, according to YouTube’s FAQ.
Create the fundraiser and attach the livestream
Set up the fundraiser before the event so viewers can find the donation option when it begins. You can create it in Studio or from the livestream’s Live Control Room.

- In YouTube Studio, open Earn > Giving > Get started > Create a fundraiser. The alternative entry point is the livestream’s Live Control Room under Advanced Settings.
- Select an eligible nonprofit. If it is not listed, use the option to request it, then allow time for review.
- Enter the fundraiser title and description. Add a goal and duration if they suit the campaign; these are optional.
- Add the scheduled livestream to the fundraiser.
- Review the details and publish. The Donate button appears after the fundraiser’s start date, not merely because the fundraiser has been created.
Google for Nonprofits describes the workflow in its YouTube Giving fundraiser setup instructions. The feature handles the donation surface; it does not prescribe a particular camera, microphone, lighting setup, or encoder.

Plan the viewer donation experience
Viewers can donate from the livestream watch page. A Donate button also appears in live chat when chat is enabled. Mobile viewers need to use portrait orientation to see chat. If the event relies on chat donations, confirm chat is on and tell mobile attendees how to switch orientation.

Live Chat Donations replaced Super Chat for Good. YouTube says Super Chat and Super Stickers are unavailable on streams using Live Chat Donations, and members-only live chat cannot be used with the donate button. Check the event’s settings and format against the current YouTube Giving FAQ.
What donors see and how donations are handled
A donor chooses an amount and payment method, and can choose whether their username appears publicly in live chat. If they do not display their username, the donation amount appears as “Anonymous.” YouTube says the creator and nonprofit do not receive the donor’s personal information; a receipt is emailed after processing. Donations are non-refundable. For donor-specific tax treatment, refer to the receipt and appropriate tax guidance rather than assuming a deduction applies in every jurisdiction.

YouTube says it pays transaction fees, so 100% of donations go to the eligible nonprofit. Google partners with Network for Good to collect and distribute donations at Google’s request, and the nonprofit must opt in to receive funds. The cited English US guidance does not give an exact payout schedule, so do not promise a payment date. Details are in YouTube’s donation guidance.
Monitor donations during and after the event
- During the livestream: A producer can monitor donations in chat and in the Live Control Room’s Viewer Activity Widget.
- Afterward: Open YouTube Studio > Earn > Giving for basic fundraiser totals and details.
If YouTube Giving is unavailable
Google for Nonprofits points organizations that cannot use YouTube Giving to external fundraising sites such as GoFundMe or JustGiving, linked through video end screens. That guidance describes end-screen links; it does not establish a direct livestream donation integration. Before choosing an external provider, verify its current linking rules, fees, terms, donation receipts, and how the nonprofit confirms payment processing.
