There is no single sugar amount for Starbucks drinks: it depends on the beverage, size and recipe. Check the exact drink’s nutrition panel on Starbucks.com/menu or in the Starbucks app, and confirm the size before relying on the number. The listing is a standard-recipe baseline; customizations can change the finished drink’s nutrition.
Where to find sugar information for a Starbucks drink
- Open Starbucks.com/menu or the Starbucks app, then search for the beverage by name.
- Check that you have the right market and serving size. Starbucks’ menu listings pair the serving size with its nutrition figures; the examples below are U.S. listings and may not match other countries.
- Open the nutrition information and read the sugar value in grams. Calories or a brief drink description do not tell you the sugar amount.
- If you change syrup, milk, toppings or another component, check the order-specific nutrition display if one is available. Otherwise, treat the standard listing only as a baseline; do not assume it gives the customized total.
Starbucks says nutrition and ingredient information for most menu food and beverages is available online and in its app. Its March 12, 2026 guidance also notes that figures are calculated from standard recipes and exact nutrition may vary with customization. (Starbucks guidance)

Examples: sugar in two Grande Starbucks drinks
These U.S. menu examples are both Grande (16 fl oz), making the serving sizes comparable. They illustrate how much the figure can differ by drink; they are not a menu-wide average.
| Drink | Size | Sugar |
|---|---|---|
| Iced Caffè Latte | Grande (16 fl oz) | 11 g |
| Vanilla Bean Crème Frappuccino | Grande (16 fl oz) | 52 g |

Why your customized drink may have a different amount
A menu figure describes the listed standard recipe, not necessarily the drink you receive after substitutions or additions. Syrup, sauce, sweetened bases, milk and toppings can all affect the finished drink’s sugar. If the app or menu does not show nutrition for your exact custom order, Starbucks’ standard figure cannot establish a precise customized total.
For less sweetness, Starbucks suggests asking for fewer syrup pumps or leaving out added sweetener. That changes the recipe, so its nutrition may differ from the standard listing. Starbucks also describes brewed coffee, Americanos and teas among unsweetened favorites; check the actual drink’s ingredients, since “unsweetened” does not by itself establish the total sugar of every preparation. What Starbucks’ Premium Chai Blend sugar figure means
In a March 2, 2026 announcement, Starbucks said its Premium Chai Blend contains 2 g of sugar from honey. That is a figure for the blend ingredient, not the total sugar in every prepared chai drink. Starbucks says customers can add or remove classic or other flavored syrup, so check the nutrition listing for the finished beverage and your chosen size. (Starbucks Premium Chai Blend announcement)

- Compare the same size and preparation basis; a smaller serving should not be compared with a larger one as if they were equivalent.
- Use total sugar in grams from the nutrition panel, not a drink’s name or calorie count.
- Distinguish the standard recipe value from nutrition for a customized order.
- Consider ingredients such as syrup, sauce, sweetened base, milk and toppings when interpreting why drinks differ.
Menu items, sizes, recipes and nutrition panels can change. Verify the drink in the live Starbucks app or menu for your location at order time. Nutrition information is not an assessment of an individual’s dietary needs.
