There is no single authoritative figure for a fully configured installation. Activision’s Version 35.0 notes, dated December 8, 2025, list an app size of approximately 1.6 GB on Android and 3.3 GB on iOS. The U.S. App Store listing displayed 3.1 GB when accessed in 2026. Those are app or listing figures, not guarantees of the final device footprint after optional resources are installed.
Plan from the storage screen on your own phone rather than relying on one universal “COD Mobile size.” Leave room for the game’s update process and download only the resources and modes you actually use.

What the published numbers actually measure
The most useful starting figures are platform-specific and dated. They describe the app package or store listing, while the installed game can grow when you add optional content.

The iOS figures differ because they come from different sources and contexts: an update notice and a live store listing. Neither should be silently treated as a universal total. Store listings and update notes can change with new versions.

Why your installation can be larger
Call of Duty: Mobile separates the base app from downloadable game resources. Activision describes optional downloads such as HD resources, maps, weapons, and operators. Two people on the same phone model can therefore use different amounts of storage depending on what they select.
A fresh install may show the app figure before the resource packs you want have finished downloading. An update can also require temporary working space while files are replaced or unpacked. Because the available sources do not publish one total for every combination of resources, a precise “fully downloaded” number would be misleading.
Android and iOS do not have identical packages
Version 35.0 treats some assets differently by platform. Activision says the Isolated Battle Royale map and HD audio are included in the iOS base build for that version. On Android, the same notes describe downloads through the in-game manager and say Android audio is lower quality until the HD audio download completes. These details are version-specific; check the notes for the version you are installing rather than assuming a future release behaves the same way.

Android: use the in-game Download Manager
- Open Call of Duty: Mobile and reach the main lobby.
- Tap the down-arrow download icon at the bottom of the lobby to open Download Manager.
- Review the available maps and resource categories.
- Download only the content you intend to play or use. For example, postpone HD resources, extra maps, weapons, or operators if you are trying to finish an update on limited storage.
- Keep the game open on a stable Wi-Fi connection until the selected downloads finish, then check the phone’s storage screen again.
Activision’s Version 35.0 notes warn that some content may need to be downloaded again after updating. A redownload is not automatically a fault; it can be part of the update’s file replacement process.

iPhone and iPad: choose resources during setup
Use the download choices presented by the game and select only the maps and resource types you need. Activision’s App Store description confirms that players can choose downloads, including HD resources, maps, weapons, and operators. The available sources do not document a universal item-by-item deletion control after a resource has already been installed, so do not assume every individual asset can later be removed independently.
Understand the quality and access trade-offs
- Isolated Battle Royale: Activision says the map cannot be played until its download is complete. Leaving it out saves space but removes access to that map until you download it.
- Android audio: Version 35.0 notes say Android uses lower-quality audio until HD audio is downloaded. You can defer the larger audio package, but sound quality remains reduced in the meantime.
- iOS packaging: For Version 35.0, Activision says the Isolated map and HD audio are included in the iOS base build, so the same choices may not appear as optional downloads on iOS.
Free space elsewhere on the phone
When an update will not start, first identify what is actually consuming storage. Device menus vary by manufacturer and operating-system release, but both Android and iOS provide a storage screen that ranks apps and files.
1. Inspect the storage breakdown
Open your phone’s Settings app and search for “Storage” if you do not see the menu immediately. Note whether the largest category is Call of Duty: Mobile, another game, photos and videos, downloaded media, or unused apps. This prevents deleting small files while a single large app is the real constraint.
2. Remove or offload large apps you no longer use
Uninstall an app you have finished with, or use an operating-system offload feature where available. Confirm that you know the app’s sign-in details before removing it. This approach can recover more space than clearing a few small files, but it affects the other app rather than Call of Duty: Mobile.

3. Clear cache for other apps when the OS offers that control
Activision support recommends reviewing large or unused apps and clearing cache for other apps. Cache labels and controls differ by Android manufacturer, and iOS generally manages app caches automatically. Clear cache only for an app you recognize; do not treat a “clear data” or “delete documents” control as equivalent to clearing temporary files.
4. Review photos, videos, downloads, and offline media
Delete files you have backed up or no longer need, and remove offline films, music, podcasts, and social-media downloads. Empty the device’s trash or recently deleted area if the operating system keeps deleted items there; otherwise the apparent free space may not become available immediately.
5. Restart and retry the game download
After making space, restart the phone and open Call of Duty: Mobile again. A restart can release temporary files held by a failed installer. Retry the update on Wi-Fi and watch the storage screen while it runs.
What to do when an update still fails
There is not enough free space during installation
Free additional room outside the game, then retry. The published app figures do not specify how much temporary space a particular update needs, so do not rely on a fixed buffer number. If the phone reports a different requirement, treat that on-screen requirement as the current one.

Downloads repeatedly restart
Use the in-game Download Manager to see which resource is pending. Keep the device connected to reliable Wi-Fi, plug it into power, and avoid switching networks during a large download. If Version 35.0 content was removed or replaced by the update, some redownloading is expected.
The game opens but a mode or asset is unavailable
Check whether the required map or resource is still downloading. The Isolated map cannot be played until its download finishes, and Android HD audio remains unavailable at full quality until its package is installed.
You are considering deleting app data
Do not use “clear data,” “delete documents and data,” or an uninstall as a routine cleanup step. The available sources do not establish the exact consequences of each reset option, and game resources may need to be downloaded again. Before any reset, make sure your progress is linked to the game’s supported account system and that you can sign back in.

Device requirements and practical planning
Activision support lists Android 6.0 or newer with at least 2 GB of RAM, and iOS 15.0 or newer with at least 2 GB of RAM. Meeting those minimums does not guarantee that a device has enough free storage for an update or every optional resource.
- Check free storage before installing, not only after the app appears on the home screen.
- Expect the amount to change when you add maps, HD assets, weapons, operators, or future updates.
- Keep the phone connected to power for large downloads and avoid starting an update when storage is nearly full.
- Use the phone’s storage report as the authority for your device; the 1.6 GB, 3.3 GB, and 3.1 GB figures are source-specific reference points.
Can you move the game to external storage?
The available information does not establish a supported path for moving Call of Duty: Mobile to a USB-C flash drive, external drive, or microSD card. microSD behavior varies by device and Android configuration, and an external drive is not demonstrated as an installation location for the game. Do not buy storage hardware expecting it to relocate the installed app.
Cloud storage can help you offload photos and other files, but it does not move the game’s active resources or remove the phone’s requirement to store and run them locally. The direct remedies are managing the game’s optional downloads and clearing space occupied by unrelated files and apps.
A safe order of operations
- Check the phone’s storage breakdown and record how much free space remains.
- Open Call of Duty: Mobile’s Download Manager or resource selection screen.
- Defer optional maps and HD assets you do not need immediately.
- Remove unused apps and large files outside the game; clear other apps’ cache only where the operating system provides that option.
- Restart the phone, reconnect to Wi-Fi, and retry the update.
- If you still need a reset, secure your game account first and expect resources to download again after reinstalling or clearing data.
For most players, this sequence avoids unnecessary reinstallation while making the storage decision visible: keep the resources that support the modes and quality you want, and reclaim the rest of the phone’s space from files you can safely remove.
