In the reviewed examples, the Asus NUC 15 Pro+ used around 71 W continuously, the Beelink SER9 used just over 80 W under high processing stress, and the Geekom Mini IT15 reached about 92 W at full system load. The NUC 15 Pro+ also recorded brief peaks above 100 W. These are model-specific review measurements—not a universal rating for every high-performance mini PC—so your result will vary with the processor, memory, storage, power mode, workload and connected devices.
Those figures represent electricity entering the complete computer and its power adapter. They are not the same as the CPU’s advertised power limit or the wattage printed on the adapter.

Real-world load readings from tested mini PCs
The clearest answer comes from measurements taken at the wall under a defined workload. Three recent reviews provide useful reference points:
Recommended Free Tools
| Mini PC | Workload described by the review | Reported input power | What the number means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Geekom Mini IT15 | Full system load | About 92 W | Whole-system input, including the adapter and components beyond the CPU; Notebookcheck review, 2025 |
| Asus NUC 15 Pro+ | Continuous load | About 71 W | Sustained reading; brief peaks above 100 W were also observed; Notebookcheck review, 2025 |
| Beelink SER9 | High processing stress | Just over 80 W | Whole-system reading under the review’s stress test; Notebookcheck review, 2024 |
The tests used different hardware configurations, software and workloads, so the table is a set of reference observations rather than a controlled efficiency ranking. A 92 W result does not prove that the Mini IT15 is less efficient than a 71 W NUC: the systems may deliver different performance, use different processors and have been tested under different conditions.

What “under load” actually measures
CPU-only stress
A processor stress test keeps CPU cores busy and can produce a relatively stable sustained draw. It is useful for checking cooling and long-running workloads such as code compilation or rendering, but it may not represent a game or a video-export job that also exercises the integrated graphics.
Combined CPU and graphics work
When the CPU and integrated GPU are active together, the system can draw more than it does in a CPU-only test. Memory traffic, storage activity and the motherboard’s voltage regulators also contribute. A short burst can be higher than the long-term level because modern processors temporarily raise clock speed before settling at a thermal or power limit.

Gaming load changes from scene to scene. A title that is limited by the integrated GPU may draw differently from a CPU-heavy strategy game, and frame-rate caps can substantially reduce demand. The Beelink SER9 review describes higher gaming demand than a slower mini PC, but it does not establish one universal gaming wattage for all SER9 configurations or all games.

CPU power is not wall power
Processor telemetry reports energy used by the CPU package or a defined processor domain. A wall meter measures the complete input path: the external adapter, motherboard power conversion, processor, graphics engine, memory, storage, cooling fan, wireless radios and USB devices connected to the mini PC.
The Geekom Mini IT15 illustrates the difference. Its review lists a 64 W short-term processor power limit and a 33 W continuous processor limit, yet the complete system consumed around 92 W under full load. The gap includes components outside the CPU and conversion losses between the outlet and the processor. Therefore, a CPU limit cannot be used as a substitute for the mini PC’s total electricity draw.
Software tools that show CPU package power are still useful for diagnosing why a reading changes, but they cannot tell you exactly what your household outlet is supplying. Use a wall measurement when you need the total cost or circuit load.
How to measure your own mini PC at the wall
A plug-in electricity usage monitor (also called a watt meter) is the most direct way to answer the question for your exact system. It measures the adapter and computer together. Leave a display, speakers, dock or external drives out of the measured socket unless you intend to measure the whole workstation.

- Connect the meter to the wall outlet. Plug the electricity monitor directly into the outlet, then connect the mini PC’s power adapter to the monitor. Check that the meter is rated for your local mains voltage and current.
- Record the configuration. Note the mini PC model, processor, memory capacity, storage drives, operating system, power mode and any USB-powered devices attached to it. These details make a later comparison meaningful.
- Establish an idle baseline. Boot normally, wait for background activity to settle and record the steady reading. If the display sleeps, record whether that changes the result. Idle power is separate from load power and should not be averaged into a peak figure.
- Choose one repeatable workload. Use the application or benchmark that represents your use: a sustained CPU stress test, a combined CPU/GPU workload, a game at a specified resolution and frame-rate setting, or a long export. Keep the same settings for each repeat.
- Run long enough for temperatures to stabilize. Short bursts can capture a temporary boost rather than sustained consumption. Record the highest observed value and the level maintained after the system reaches its thermal steady state.
- Report the conditions with the result. State the model, workload, duration, operating mode, peripherals and whether the monitor was included. A result such as “82 W at the wall during a 30-minute CPU stress test, display excluded” is reproducible; “the PC uses 82 W” is not.
For better confidence, repeat the same test after a reboot and compare the sustained readings. If the meter has energy (kilowatt-hour) logging, reset it before the run and record the elapsed time as well as instantaneous watts.
How much electricity does that represent?
Watts describe the rate of use. Electricity billing is based on energy, usually kilowatt-hours (kWh). Convert watts to kilowatts by dividing by 1,000, then multiply by hours of operation:
energy (kWh) = power (W) ÷ 1,000 × operating hours

- ✓ Save Money and Energy: By toggling through the 9 display modes, you can gain insights into various operational parameters of your devices. The home energy monitor also calculates and displays the electricity consumption and cost over time, helping you save on your electricity bills by monitoring and managing energy usage.
- ✓ Data Storage: The plug-in electricity meter stores all non-real-time data, ensuring no information is lost in the event of a sudden power outage. If data exceeds the screen’s maximum display range, the screen will flash as a reminder. Pressing and holding the reset button for 3 seconds will reset the cumulative data to zero.
- ✓ Safe to Use: Rated voltage 125VAC, 60Hz, 15A maximum 1875W resistor and tungsten wire, 1/2HP. Clean and tidy interface, very simple to use.
| Sustained input used for the calculation | Energy for one hour | Four hours per day for 30 days |
|---|---|---|
| 70 W | 0.07 kWh | 8.4 kWh |
| 80 W | 0.08 kWh | 9.6 kWh |
| 92 W | 0.092 kWh | 11.04 kWh |
To estimate cost, multiply the measured kWh by your electricity tariff. If the mini PC spends much of the day idle or asleep, use separate idle and active measurements rather than multiplying a full-load figure across every hour.
Why your reading may be higher or lower
- Power mode: Balanced, performance and manufacturer-specific modes can change sustained clock speeds and limits.
- Temperature: A warm room, blocked vents or dust can alter fan speed and the point at which the processor reduces clocks.
- Memory and storage: More memory modules, a second SSD and active external drives add their own consumption.
- USB accessories: Bus-powered drives, capture devices, hubs and charging phones are part of the wall reading if they draw through the mini PC.
- Display equipment: A monitor’s power is excluded when it is plugged into another outlet, but included if it shares the meter.
- Adapter efficiency: The adapter converts mains electricity to the lower voltage used by the computer, and its losses vary with load.
- Short-term boosting: A brief peak can exceed the sustained value without indicating a fault.
Adapter wattage is a capacity rating, not consumption
A 100 W or 120 W label on an adapter states how much output the adapter is designed to supply safely under its specified conditions. It does not mean the mini PC continuously consumes that amount. The Beelink SER9 review reports a 100 W adapter as sufficient even though the system drew just over 80 W during high processing stress.
An adapter with headroom can accommodate transient boosts and attached devices. Replacing it with a lower-rated unit simply because the average reading is below that rating can cause voltage sag, shutdowns or charging problems. Use the voltage, connector and polarity specified for the mini PC, and treat the manufacturer’s adapter rating as a minimum capability requirement rather than an expected operating draw.
How to compare mini PCs fairly
Power numbers are meaningful only when the measurement point and workload match. Use this checklist before deciding that one model is more efficient:
Best Value
- Various Monitoring Parameters: The power meter plug can monitor the power (W), energy (kWh), volts, amps, hertz, power factor, cost, minimum and maximum power (W), cumulative days and time of your appliances. - Data Memory Function: The wattage meter will record your power consumption data when you remove it from socket, or remove appliances from the electricity monitor. You can directly see the last data when you use it next time. This function can also automatically save the data when there is a sudden power failure
- Measurement point: Compare wall input with wall input, or CPU package telemetry with CPU package telemetry—not one of each.
- Workload: Match CPU stress, combined CPU/GPU work or the same game and settings.
- Time window: Separate a short boost peak from the sustained level after temperatures stabilize.
- Configuration: Align processor variant, memory channels, storage devices and firmware power mode.
- Peripherals: Include or exclude displays, docks and USB devices consistently.
- Performance: If efficiency is the goal, compare completed work or frame rate at the same time as power. A faster computer can use more watts but finish a task sooner.
The available Geekom Mini IT15, Asus NUC 15 Pro+ and Beelink SER9 observations do not meet all of these controls, so they should not be treated as a head-to-head efficiency test.
Troubleshooting an unexpectedly high reading
The meter stays near the adapter’s maximum
Check whether a benchmark is still in a boost phase, whether external USB devices are drawing power, and whether the display was accidentally included. Confirm that the meter is showing watts rather than accumulated watt-hours. Sustained readings close to the adapter rating during a demanding combined workload warrant checking cooling and the manufacturer’s power limits.
The reading jumps up and down
Fluctuation is normal when software alternates between CPU, GPU, storage and idle periods. Log the highest value and a sustained or average value separately, and describe the workload instead of reporting one instantaneous number.
The mini PC shuts down under load
Verify that the adapter has the required voltage, connector and wattage, and that it is firmly connected. Inspect ventilation and temperatures, remove unnecessary USB loads, and test with the manufacturer’s adapter. A wall meter can reveal whether shutdowns coincide with a transient demand, but it cannot by itself diagnose a failing motherboard or thermal protection event.
What number should you plan for?
For sizing a desk outlet or estimating active-use energy, planning around 100 W of available adapter capacity is reasonable for the cited examples, while expecting roughly 70–92 W of sustained wall input under heavy work is more representative of measured operation. Keep the figures tied to the model and test conditions: the Asus NUC 15 Pro+ showed brief peaks above 100 W, the Geekom Mini IT15 reached about 92 W at full system load, and the Beelink SER9 exceeded 80 W under high processing stress. Measure your own unit at the wall when the exact workload, electricity cost or backup-power requirement matters.
