Does the ad-free plan still have ads during live sports?
Yes. Max says live events can include ads regardless of plan, including Standard and Premium. Those plans remove ads from shows and movies, but they do not promise an ad-free experience for live programming. Max estimates that Basic with Ads has about four minutes of advertising per hour; that is the service’s estimate, not an independent measurement. See the Max plan details and Max ads information.
Which plan should you choose?
- Choose Standard if you mainly want series and movies without ads and two streams are enough.
- Consider Premium if your household needs four simultaneous streams, more downloads, or 4K/Atmos playback for supported titles.
- Choose Basic with Ads if the lower listed price matters more than avoiding ads in shows and movies.
Is there a bundle with ad-free Max?
The listed U.S. Disney+, Hulu, and Max bundle costs $29.99 per month and includes Max Standard, Disney+ Premium, and Hulu without ads. Selected live and linear content may still contain ads, and applicable taxes are excluded. It is a comparison for people who want all three services, not a lower-priced Max-only plan. Details are on the Max bundle help page.

Is HBO Only the same as ad-free Max?
No. The listed HBO Only price is $16.99 per month, matching Max Standard’s monthly price, but HBO Only provides HBO series and movies while Max includes broader programming. The help page does not list an annual HBO Only price. Check Max’s HBO Only information if you are comparing the narrower HBO option.
