A new large-cabin, ultra-long-range private jet requires roughly $60 million to $94 million to purchase in a recent Global 7500 market snapshot. A realistic annual operating budget for aircraft in this class is usually in the low-to-mid millions: published scenarios run from about $2.1 million to $3.4 million at 200–400 flight hours, while a 450-hour Global 7500 scenario reaches $3,517,649. Those figures are operating estimates, not purchase prices, financing-inclusive ownership costs or guaranteed quotes.

The final number depends mainly on aircraft condition and configuration, annual hours, fuel burn and price, crew and training, maintenance and engine programs, hangar and insurance rates, management arrangements, and the aircraft’s operating base. The figures below show how to compare estimates without treating unlike assumptions as if they were the same budget.

What you pay to acquire a large private jet

Purchase price is a one-time capital commitment that sits apart from the annual operating budgets published by aviation cost providers. Those operating models generally do not include the aircraft purchase, depreciation or interest; taxes, delivery expenses and major refurbishment may also require separate treatment.

Global 7500 market evidence

A Guardian Jet market snapshot lists Global 7500 asking prices from $59,995,000 to $94,000,000, with a typical purchase estimate of $76,997,500. These are market-model and asking-price figures, not evidence that every aircraft changes hands at those amounts. Age, total time, maintenance status, cabin specification, avionics, connectivity equipment and delivery location can move a negotiated transaction materially.

GlobalAir labels $75,000,000 as the Global 7500 list price in its Q2 2025 information. A list price is not the same as a completed sale: discounts, options, escalation clauses, pre-buy findings and customized equipment can change the amount paid.

What is—and is not—known for the G700

No current official G700 purchase-price figure is stated here. Do not apply the Global 7500’s $75 million or $76,997,500 figures to a G700 as though they were interchangeable. A buyer needs a current, aircraft-specific quotation that identifies configuration, delivery timing, warranty, included options and any completion work.

Published annual operating budgets

Operating costs combine expenses that rise with each flight and expenses that continue even when the aircraft is parked. The examples below are scenario models from different providers, so they should not be averaged into a single “industry average.” Each uses its own fuel price, utilization, reserves and staffing assumptions.

What makes up the annual bill

Fuel

Fuel is the largest flight-sensitive line in many models. It depends on gallons burned per hour, route length, payload, weather, speed, fuel uplift practices and the price available at each airport. A model using $7.23 per gallon will not match one using $7.54, even before differences in burn assumptions.

Maintenance and engine programs

Airframe maintenance, parts, labor and scheduled inspections are commonly modeled as hourly reserves. Engine programs or overhaul reserves are separate lines because an eventual shop visit can create a very large bill. Ask whether an estimate assumes a manufacturer-backed program, a third-party program or cash reserves, and whether enrollment fees and coverage limits are included.

Crew, training and management

A large-cabin jet normally requires two pilots for operations, with staffing choices determining salary, benefits, relief coverage and vacation coverage. Recurrent simulator training, travel and lodging add to the crew budget. A management company may coordinate scheduling, compliance, maintenance and vendors for a fixed fee, a percentage of revenue or another arrangement; the contract determines what is actually included.

Hangar, insurance, landing and handling

Hangar rent varies sharply by airport scarcity, climate and required security. Insurance depends on hull value, pilot experience, usage and liability limits. Landing, parking, deicing, ground handling and international permits are usually variable expenses, while hangar and much of insurance are fixed or semi-fixed.

Why flying more can lower the hourly figure

Annual spending rises as hours increase because fuel, maintenance and engine reserves accumulate. However, fixed expenses are spread over more hours, so the effective hourly or per-mile cost can fall. Liberty Jet estimates Global 7500 cost at about $18.37 per mile at 200 annual hours and $13.73 per mile at 400 hours under its assumptions. Those values are model outputs, not universal prices for every route.

For a practical comparison, divide each scenario’s total by its assumed hours, then inspect what is hidden inside the total. A 200-hour owner may spend less cash in a year but carry a higher cost per flight hour because hangar, crew, insurance and management are spread across fewer hours. A 400- or 450-hour operation spends more overall and may need additional crew coverage, yet obtains more utilization from the same fixed infrastructure.

Range and mission context for this class of aircraft

Gulfstream states that the G700 has a theoretical maximum range of 7,750 nautical miles at Mach 0.85 for an NBAA IFR mission with eight passengers, four crew and NBAA IFR reserves. The manufacturer’s qualification is explicit: “Actual range will be affected by ATC routing, operating speed, weather, outfitting options and other factors.” Treat the published figure as a design benchmark, not a promise that every city pair can be flown nonstop with your preferred payload.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Mission planning affects cost as well as convenience. A route requiring a fuel stop increases block time, crew duty and handling charges. Heavy cabin outfitting, extra passengers, winter temperatures, headwinds and restrictive airways can reduce practical range. When comparing aircraft, use the routes you actually fly, expected passenger loads and the airports you can realistically use.

Costs that published operating budgets may leave out

Before treating a multi-million-dollar annual estimate as your ownership budget, identify exclusions in writing:

  • Acquisition and financing: purchase price, loan interest, arrangement fees and cost of capital are separate from Liberty Jet’s sample operating totals.
  • Depreciation and resale: accounting depreciation and the aircraft’s future market value affect economic cost even when they do not appear in cash operating estimates.
  • Taxes and registration: sales or use tax, import duty, VAT, registration and local property-tax treatment depend on jurisdiction and ownership structure.
  • Delivery and refurbishment: ferry flights, pre-buy inspections, cabin upgrades, paint, connectivity equipment and conformity work can occur before normal operations.
  • Unscheduled events: major component failures, extended downtime and one-time interior or avionics work may exceed hourly reserves.
  • Repositioning and empty legs: moving the aircraft without passengers still consumes fuel, crew time and airport services.

How to build a buyer-specific budget

  1. Define the mission. List annual trips, typical sectors, passenger loads, baggage, preferred airports, international destinations and the number of hours you realistically expect to fly.
  2. Choose the aircraft and configuration. Compare cabin layout, range capability, payload, runway needs, avionics, connectivity and completion standard rather than relying on the model name alone.
  3. Request a current acquisition quote. Ask for an itemized price, options, delivery date, warranty, deposits, escalation terms, pre-buy conditions and any required completion work. Do not substitute a different model’s market figure.
  4. Normalize operating assumptions. Put every estimate on the same annual hours, fuel price, burn rate, engine-program treatment, crew plan, hangar location, insurance limit and management scope.
  5. Separate cash and economic views. Build one schedule for cash expenses and another that includes financing, depreciation, expected resale value and capital tied up in the aircraft.
  6. Stress-test the plan. Recalculate with fewer hours, higher fuel prices, an additional crew member, a remote or expensive operating base, and a major maintenance event. The aircraft should remain affordable under conservative assumptions.

Common comparison mistakes

  • Comparing different utilization: a 200-hour budget cannot be judged directly against a 450-hour budget without separating fixed and variable costs.
  • Mixing fuel prices: $7.23 and $7.54 per gallon produce different totals even with identical burn.
  • Ignoring engine reserves: a low estimate may simply omit or understate the future overhaul obligation.
  • Treating asking price as sale price: condition, records, options and inspection findings determine the negotiated number.
  • Assuming range is guaranteed: published maximum range uses defined passengers, crew, reserves and conditions; real routing and weather change the result.
  • Calling a provider’s model an average: these are publisher estimates, not independently audited market-wide averages.

What a serious ownership decision requires

A large private jet makes financial sense only when the mission, utilization and service infrastructure justify the capital tied up in the aircraft. The Global 7500 examples show annual modeled operating costs from $2,081,470 at 200 hours to $3,517,649 at 450 hours across different providers and assumptions. The G700 examples reach $3,359,144 at 400 hours, while no purchase-price figure is stated for it.

Use those numbers as planning boundaries and as a checklist for questions, not as a quote. A broker, management provider, maintenance specialist, tax adviser and lender can turn the planned routes, jurisdiction and crew structure into a current aircraft-specific ownership model. Until that work is done, the responsible answer is a purchase commitment measured in tens of millions of dollars and an annual operating commitment measured in millions more.
