A Bell helicopter can cost anywhere from roughly $1.8 million to nearly $6 million on the used market, depending on the model, year, equipment, condition and records. In a worldwide listing snapshot taken October 12, 2026, Bell 407 aircraft with published prices ranged from $1.8 million to $5.9 million, with a $3.25 million median among 16 priced listings. Bell 429 examples were listed at $5.45 million and $5.50 million, but only two of 25 active listings disclosed a price.
Those figures are asking prices, not confirmed transaction values. A new Bell has no universal public price in the available manufacturer material; you need a dated quote for a specific model and configuration. Acquisition is only the first budget item: depending on the model, utilization and what is included, operating costs can exceed $1,000 per flight hour.

Why there is no single Bell helicopter price
“Bell helicopter” describes a family of aircraft rather than one product. A light single-engine Bell 505, a faster 407 GXi and a twin-engine 429 serve different missions and have different equipment, maintenance schedules and operating costs. Even two aircraft of the same model can have very different values.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
The largest price differences usually come from:
- Model and exact variant, such as a 407 versus a 407 GXi.
- Manufacture year and total airframe time.
- Hours remaining before an engine, transmission or other major component overhaul.
- Status and remaining life of life-limited parts.
- Engine and component maintenance history.
- Avionics, mission equipment, exterior paint and interior configuration.
- Completeness and quality of the technical records.
- Aircraft location, import or delivery requirements, and the local market.
- Whether the figure is an asking price or a completed-sale price.
Because public listings are not a transaction database, a listing should be treated as a starting point for valuation, not proof that an aircraft will sell for that amount.

Current used-market asking prices
| Model | Observed public prices | Sample and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Bell 407 | $1.8 million–$5.9 million; $3.25 million median | Jet Tracker worldwide snapshot queried October 12, 2026; 16 listings published a price. Asking prices, not completed sales. |
| Bell 429 | $5.45 million and $5.50 million | Only two of 25 active listings published a price. The sample is too small for a reliable median or range. |
| Bell 505 | Not established in the cited snapshot | The listing row and a defensible purchase-price range were not available; do not infer a value from the 407 or 429 figures. |
What the Bell 407 sample means
The 407 sample is the most useful public indication in the snapshot because 16 listings had prices. The $1.8 million low and $5.9 million high are not interchangeable aircraft: year, total time, component status, avionics, cabin condition and mission equipment can account for a large part of the spread. The $3.25 million median describes those 16 advertised aircraft only. It is not an appraisal, a manufacturer price or a forecast of a negotiated sale.
How to read the Bell 429 examples
The two priced 429 listings—$5.45 million and $5.50 million—show the level at which those particular aircraft were advertised. Since 23 other active listings did not publish a price, the two observations cannot establish a market median. A buyer should request the specifications and records behind each listing before comparing them.
New-aircraft pricing requires a configuration quote
Bell’s public material identifies the 505, 407GXi and 429 as commercial products and describes their differing seating and performance roles, but it does not provide a current, universal purchase-price list. A historical Bell/Textron page includes a heading for 2018 commercial-product price points without readable prices, so it cannot support a current number. The current 407GXi sales material likewise describes the aircraft and its Customer Advantage Program without stating a purchase price.
For a new aircraft, ask Bell or an authorized seller for a dated quotation that names the model, avionics, interior, mission equipment, delivery location and every option. Request a matching ownership analysis rather than relying on an unqualified “base price.” The quote should state whether training, spares, warranty or support packages, ferrying, taxes and delivery preparation are included.

What it costs to operate a Bell
Ownership cost has a variable component—fuel, lubricants, maintenance and engine reserves—and a fixed component such as insurance, hangarage, crew, subscriptions and financing. Your cost per flight hour generally falls as fixed expenses are spread over more annual hours, while fuel and maintenance rise with use.
| Estimate | Hourly figure | What it includes and how it was calculated |
|---|---|---|
| Bell 429 direct costs | $854.11 per flight hour | Bell Textron February 2026 specification-sheet estimate for direct maintenance and engine costs. |
| Bell 429 with sample fuel and lubricants | $1,237.91 per flight hour | Bell’s $854.11 direct-cost estimate plus $383.80 for fuel and lubricants under its stated assumptions. |
| Bell 505 ownership estimate | $1,127 per flight hour | Jet Tracker canonical-2026-09 cost engine, queried October 12, 2026, at 400 annual hours; includes variable costs, allocated fixed expenses and a pilot salary. |
| Bell 407 GXi ownership estimate | $1,428 per flight hour | Same Jet Tracker method and 400-hour annual utilization. |
| Bell 429 ownership estimate | $2,374 per flight hour | Same Jet Tracker method and 400-hour annual utilization. |
Bell’s 2026 Bell 429 cost example
Bell’s $1,237.91 figure is an illustrative model-specific estimate, not a guaranteed invoice. Its assumptions are unusually important:
- Fuel consumption of 76 gallons per hour.
- Fuel priced at $5 per gallon.
- Labor priced at $95 per hour.
- 600 flight hours per year.
- A basic aircraft without optional equipment.
- A mature aircraft without warranty considerations.
- Bell list prices for spare parts.
Under those conditions, Bell estimates $854.11 per hour for direct maintenance and engine costs and $383.80 per hour for fuel and lubricants. Bell notes that an ownership analysis can be customized for an operator’s actual conditions. A different fuel price, annual utilization, labor rate, warranty status or equipment fit will change the result.
Why the Jet Tracker totals are higher or lower than Bell’s table
The Jet Tracker figures are catalog estimates that combine a variable hourly amount with annual fixed expenses divided across 400 hours. They include a pilot salary in the Bell profiles. Bell’s 429 table is a direct-cost illustration based on 600 hours and does not represent the same basket of fixed expenses. Neither method is a universal operating rate, and the two should not be compared as if they used identical assumptions.

A practical way to build your budget
Separate the purchase check from the annual operating plan. The following calculation keeps one-time and recurring costs visible:
- Choose the mission and model. Define passenger count, range, payload, weather capability, operating bases and annual hours before comparing aircraft.
- Set an acquisition envelope. Use comparable asking prices only as an initial bracket. Hold a separate reserve for inspection findings, ferrying, taxes, registration, initial parts and upgrades.
- Model annual utilization. Run at least 200-, 400- and 600-hour cases. Fixed costs per hour decline as hours increase, while fuel and maintenance costs increase with hours.
- List every fixed expense. Include hangar, insurance, pilot or crew compensation, recurrent training, navigation or data subscriptions, accounting, financing and management.
- Use aircraft-specific maintenance assumptions. Enter remaining life and forecast dates for engines, transmissions, rotor components and other life-limited parts instead of using a generic reserve.
- Stress-test the plan. Recalculate with higher fuel and labor prices, lower annual utilization and an unexpected component replacement. If the budget fails under those cases, the aircraft is not affordable for the planned mission.
For example, 400 hours at the Jet Tracker estimate of $2,374 per hour for a Bell 429 implies about $949,600 of modeled annual ownership cost before changing any assumptions. That is an estimate produced by that cost engine, not a quoted bill; the result already reflects its allocation of fixed expenses and pilot salary.
What to compare when two listings look similar
Price alone can make an older aircraft with recently completed major work look expensive, while a cheaper aircraft approaching an overhaul may carry a large deferred obligation. Put the following items side by side for every candidate:

- Inspection status, open discrepancies and compliance with applicable directives.
- Avionics standard, flight-control equipment and mission systems.
- Interior, seating, cargo configuration, paint and corrosion condition.
- Complete logbooks, component records and damage history.
- Location, delivery timing, import status and what the advertised price excludes.
Compare like with like: the same model and variant, similar year and total time, similar component life and comparable equipment. If a seller will not provide enough information to make that comparison, the advertised number is not a dependable basis for an offer.

Used-aircraft purchase process
1. Request a complete data package
Ask for the aircraft specification, serial number, total time, engine and component status, maintenance records, damage history, equipment list and the seller’s price terms. Confirm whether the price is firm, negotiable or subject to inspection.
2. Normalize the listings
Enter each aircraft in a comparison sheet using the same fields. Convert component life into hours or calendar time remaining, and identify items that will become due soon after delivery.
3. Hire an independent qualified inspector
Arrange a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified professional who is independent of the seller. The inspection should cover the airframe, engine, drivetrain, rotor system, avionics, records and corrosion or damage indicators.

5. Reprice after findings
Turn inspection discrepancies and near-term component work into documented repair or reserve amounts. A purchase price that looked attractive before inspection may not be attractive after those obligations are included.
6. Close with clear delivery terms
Specify the inspection standard, title and lien requirements, records delivered, equipment included, acceptance conditions, ferry responsibility and the treatment of defects discovered before closing.
Questions to ask before requesting a quote
- Is the number for a new aircraft, a demonstrator or a used aircraft?
- Which exact model and variant does it cover?
- What avionics, interior, mission equipment and optional systems are included?
- Are training, warranty, support, spares, delivery and taxes included?
- What annual hours, fuel price, labor rate and maintenance program support the operating estimate?
- Are pilot, hangar, insurance and financing costs included or excluded?
- For a used aircraft, what are the remaining hours and calendar limits on major components?
- Will the seller permit an independent pre-purchase inspection and full records review?
Bottom line
Use $1.8 million–$5.9 million as the dated public asking-price bracket observed for 16 priced Bell 407 listings, with a $3.25 million median, and treat the two Bell 429 examples at $5.45 million and $5.50 million as illustrations rather than a market statistic. No defensible Bell 505 purchase range is established by that snapshot, and a new Bell requires a model- and configuration-specific quote.

Plan for operating costs separately. Bell’s February 2026 Bell 429 example reaches $1,237.91 per hour with fuel and lubricants under specified assumptions, while a separate 400-hour cost model estimates $1,127 for a 505, $1,428 for a 407 GXi and $2,374 for a 429. The right price is the purchase amount plus the component work, crew, facilities and reserves required to operate that particular aircraft safely.
