Amazon does not publish a typical monthly income for its affiliates. For Amazon.com’s US Associates program, it publishes category commission rates instead: standard rates range from 0% to 10% of qualifying revenue. Your actual earnings depend on what shoppers buy, whether their purchases qualify under Amazon’s rules, and the volume of qualified referrals—not simply on the niche’s highest listed percentage.
What Amazon affiliate earnings are based on
The basic estimate is:
Estimated standard commission = qualifying revenue × the applicable category rate.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
For a basket containing products from different categories, calculate each category separately and add the results. For example, hypothetically, $100 in qualifying revenue from a 4% category would produce $4 in standard commission before any adjustments. This is arithmetic, not an earnings forecast: it assumes the revenue qualifies, and says nothing about traffic, conversion, order size, reversals, or how much an affiliate is likely to earn.

Amazon.com US standard commission rates by category
The following are Amazon.com US standard rates of qualifying revenue, from Amazon’s schedule accessed October 4, 2026. They are not universal Amazon rates; marketplaces in other countries may have different terms. Amazon’s rate statement may also list special bounty or bonus programs. Those pay for specified actions under their own eligibility conditions; they are separate from the standard product-category rates above.

Which Amazon affiliate niche pays the most?
By listed standard percentage alone, the highest-rate categories in this US schedule are Luxury Beauty, Luxury Stores Beauty, and Amazon Explore, at 10%. That does not establish that a site focused on one of them will earn the most overall. Amazon’s rate card is not a study of niche demand, conversion, or publisher income.
To compare niches realistically, weigh the full business case rather than ranking categories by percentage alone:
Rank #3
- What readers actually buy: Match the category rate to the products your intended audience is likely to purchase.
- Purchase intent and price: Consider whether readers are researching products they may buy, and the kinds of order values involved. A higher rate by itself cannot tell you how much qualifying revenue a niche will generate.
- Reach and qualified referrals: A niche must attract an audience and lead to eligible clicks and purchases; the rate card does not measure any of those outcomes.
- Useful, original content: Choose a subject where you can offer genuine help through commentary, analysis, or transformation—not just product links.
- Program rules: Attribution, eligibility, and advertising restrictions affect which referred purchases can earn a commission.
So the most defensible answer is conditional: the highest published percentage is 10% for the categories named above, but the most profitable niche for a particular publisher cannot be identified from Amazon’s rate schedule alone.
When a referred purchase qualifies
A rate applies only to revenue from qualifying purchases. Amazon’s agreement describes using properly tagged Special Links on a qualifying Site, while its policies set conditions for attribution and eligibility. The ordinary session has a 24-hour boundary, but that is not a guarantee that every purchase within 24 hours earns a commission: other events can end a session, and cart and digital-product purchases have separate rules. Under the policy effective April 14, 2026, a qualifying product must also be shipped, streamed, or downloaded and paid for within 180 days of purchase. See Amazon’s Operating Agreement and Program Policies for the live terms.

Policy changes effective April 14, 2026
Amazon’s change notice describes several rules with practical consequences for publishers:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Purchases referred by paid or boosted ads that link to Amazon are disqualified, subject to limited exceptions.
- For onsite commissions, the purchase must be a direct qualifying purchase of the same ASIN variant as the linked product detail page.
- Original content must add value through commentary, analysis, or transformation.
These are material conditions, not details to infer from the headline rate. Review Amazon’s April 14, 2026 policy change notice and current agreement when planning a promotion or assessing eligibility.

How commissions are reported and paid
Amazon says standard and special commissions are reported monthly and paid approximately 60 days after the end of the month in which they were earned. That payment timing is separate from the shopper’s attribution window: one determines when earnings are paid, while the other concerns whether a referred purchase is attributed to the affiliate.
Required Amazon affiliate disclosures
Amazon requires the site statement: “As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.” It also says link-level disclosures should be clear and conspicuous near the link or product review; examples include “(paid link),” “#ad,” and “#CommissionsEarned.” Put disclosures where readers encounter the recommendation, and check any legal and platform rules that apply to your publication. Amazon’s Associates disclosure guidance and Operating Agreement provide the program wording and requirements.
