Mailchimp vs HubSpot for monitoring email deliverability is mainly a comparison of documented reporting workflows—not proof that one service gets more messages into inboxes. HubSpot documents an email health dashboard and, on eligible plans, delivery reports with mailbox-provider breakdowns. Mailchimp offers campaign-monitoring guidance, while its separate Mailchimp Transactional service exposes technical SMTP events. Neither set of documentation establishes a guarantee of inbox placement.
What email deliverability monitoring can—and cannot—tell you
Delivery reporting records outcomes such as accepted messages, bounces, complaints, and engagement. Deliverability is the broader question of whether messages reach recipients’ inboxes rather than spam folders or other locations. Metrics can help diagnose risks, but they are not themselves an inbox-placement measurement or guarantee.

The workflows also differ: HubSpot marketing email, Mailchimp marketing campaigns, and Mailchimp Transactional are not interchangeable. In particular, Mailchimp Transactional’s SMTP diagnostics should not be read as a description of every Mailchimp marketing report.
What HubSpot reports
Email health dashboard
HubSpot’s email health dashboard provides a 1–10 score, recommendations, and measures including opens, click-throughs, hard bounces, unsubscribes, and spam reports. The dashboard requires at least 400 emails sent in the previous 30 days before data appears. It excludes the most recent 48 hours from health reports and engagement breakdowns; its score-over-time view covers up to 12 months for months with more than 400 sends. These are product reporting thresholds and limits, not deliverability benchmarks. HubSpot’s email health documentation
#1 Best Overall
The dashboard does not include Gmail spam-report data. HubSpot directs users to Google Postmaster Tools for that signal. Industry benchmarking is available only for some industries, so do not assume every account will see a benchmark.
Delivery reports and mailbox-provider views
HubSpot’s separate Delivery reporting includes delivery overview, performance trends, monthly metrics, hard- and soft-bounce reasons, delivery rates and performance by mailbox provider, and performance by segment. The documented segment report supports up to 21 segments. HubSpot lists this Delivery reporting for Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise, not as a universal feature across all subscriptions. See HubSpot’s delivery-report documentation
If your question is “Which platform shows email delivery by mailbox provider?”, HubSpot’s documented Delivery reports provide that view for the stated plans. The reviewed Mailchimp guidance does not establish an equivalent marketing-report inventory; that documentation gap is not proof that no related feature exists.
What Mailchimp documents
Marketing campaigns: guidance and performance monitoring
Mailchimp’s deliverability guidance focuses on practices that support sender reputation: authenticate the sending domain, use a clean and engaged audience that gave permission, send relevant messages at an appropriate cadence, and monitor campaign performance. It identifies unauthenticated domains, stale or purchased contacts, and poor content or cadence as possible contributors to problems. Mailchimp also describes automated abuse-prevention controls that can flag or pause risky sending patterns. Mailchimp’s deliverability guidance
Rank #3
Mailchimp summarizes its advice this way: “To repair your reputation (and boost deliverability), it’s crucial to authenticate your sending domain, focus on maintaining a clean, engaged list of subscribers who have explicitly given you permission to contact them, regularly send emails that interest your audience (and pertain to the reason they joined your list), and monitor campaign performance.”
Mailchimp Transactional: technical delivery events
For teams sending through Mailchimp Transactional, documentation describes more detailed event diagnostics. The service requires a sending domain, domain verification, DKIM records, and a valid DMARC policy. Its records can include recipient-server SMTP responses, delivered and hard- or soft-bounce events, full response details, and originating and receiving IP information. API events and webhooks can expose SMTP event and bounce details. Mailchimp Transactional authentication and delivery documentation
These are Transactional sending diagnostics, not a like-for-like counterpart to HubSpot’s marketing-email Delivery tab. Choose this comparison only if your workflow actually uses Mailchimp Transactional.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow the monitoring workflows compare
| Monitoring need | HubSpot | Mailchimp |
|---|---|---|
| Reputation or health snapshot | Documented 1–10 health score and engagement, bounce, unsubscribe, and spam-report indicators; 400 sends in the prior 30 days required, and the latest 48 hours are excluded. Source | Guidance recommends monitoring campaign performance, but the reviewed page does not specify a comparable health-score dashboard. Source |
| Trends and breakdowns | Delivery trends, monthly metrics, bounce reasons, provider views, and segment performance are documented for Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise; the segment report supports up to 21 segments. Source | A directly comparable feature-by-feature marketing-report inventory is not stated in the reviewed guidance. Source |
| Mailbox-provider diagnosis | Delivery reports include mailbox-provider views. Gmail spam-report data is not in the health dashboard; HubSpot points users to Google Postmaster Tools. Source Source | A comparable provider-level or Gmail-complaint report is not established by the reviewed Mailchimp sources. Source |
| Technical event detail | Recipient analytics can show delivery and bounce events; the reviewed documentation does not describe SMTP-response and webhook diagnostics as equivalent to Transactional. Source | Mailchimp Transactional documents SMTP responses, bounce events, IP details, API events, and webhooks. Source |
Choose based on the workflow you need to inspect
- Choose HubSpot’s documented view when: you use HubSpot marketing email and need the described provider-level Delivery reports, provided your subscription is Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise. The health dashboard is a separate snapshot with its own send threshold and reporting delay.
- Look at Mailchimp’s campaign guidance when: you use Mailchimp marketing campaigns and want to improve authentication, audience permission and engagement, content and cadence, and routine campaign monitoring.
- Use Mailchimp Transactional diagnostics when: your transactional sending runs through that service and you need SMTP response details or event access through API and webhooks.
This is a feature-fit distinction, not a claim that one vendor produces better inbox placement. The reviewed sources do not provide an apples-to-apples independent deliverability benchmark or evidence that either platform puts more email in inboxes.

Authentication and audience practices still matter
Monitoring is only one part of sender reputation management. HubSpot’s authentication documentation covers DKIM, SPF, and DMARC. It says DKIM must be configured to use a connected sending domain in the From address. SPF is configured on shared marketing servers; customers with a dedicated IP must configure SPF on the envelope return-path domain. DMARC provides reporting about authentication outcomes. HubSpot says its support cannot configure DMARC and directs users to an IT administrator or a third-party DMARC reporting or consulting service. HubSpot’s email authentication overview
Pair those technical records with a permission-based, engaged audience and relevant sending practices. A clean dashboard cannot compensate for contacts who did not opt in or have gone stale, and a positive engagement signal alone does not establish inbox placement.
