Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsMina the Hollower takes about 20–30 hours for a first playthrough, according to Yacht Club Games programmer David D’Angelo in a GameReactor interview published May 18, 2026. That is a developer estimate for first-time players, not a guaranteed completion time or a promise that every player will see the same content.
For a second reference point, the GOG listing displays HowLongToBeat-attributed community estimates of 18.5 hours for the main story, 24.5 hours for the main story plus side content, and 31.5 hours for completionist play. Those figures are separate from the developer estimate and should be treated as changeable community data.

There are two useful sets of numbers for Mina the Hollower, but they describe different things and were produced differently.

The developer’s 20–30-hour range is the clearest answer to “How long does it take to beat Mina the Hollower?” because it directly addresses a first run. The GOG numbers help explain how a focused run or a completion-oriented run may differ, but they are not controlled tests and may change as more players submit data.

What the 20–30-hour estimate actually covers
It is for first-time players
D’Angelo’s estimate specifically concerns people playing for the first time. A newcomer will spend time learning enemy patterns, understanding Mina’s movement, testing equipment, and finding routes through the world. A player already familiar with the game’s bosses and map can move more quickly, while someone who pauses to investigate every room can take longer.
GameReactor quoted D’Angelo saying: "For first time players, it’ll run about 20 to 30 hours. Imagine it like all the Shovel Knight campaigns in one! It’s quite the adventure… but we crammed the same density of fun you’d find in any Shovel Knight game!" The wording matters: “about” and “first time players” make this an approximate range rather than a fixed requirement.
It is not a guaranteed 100-percent time
The 20–30 hours should not be converted into a claim that every player will finish all secrets, optional objectives, equipment, or modifiers inside that window. The available evidence does not establish a measured 100-percent route, a median completion time, or a separate duration for collecting everything.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →It is not a repeat-run estimate
The developer did not publish a separate number for New Game Plus, challenge runs, or later playthroughs. A repeat run may be faster because the player knows the world, but it can also become longer if the player experiments with modifiers or deliberately pursues different equipment combinations. No reliable source assigns those activities a specific number of hours.

Why individual playtimes can vary
Exploration changes the route
Yacht Club Games describes a large, densely interconnected world containing secrets. That structure gives players reasons to leave the most direct route, inspect suspicious rooms, revisit earlier areas, and search for alternate paths. Two players can both finish the main objectives while spending different amounts of time navigating and investigating.
Adventure Gamers, in an update published May 29, 2026, repeated the 20–30-hour estimate and discussed exploration as a factor that can push a player toward the upper end. That is corroborating editorial coverage, not an independent timing study, so it supports the explanation for variation rather than replacing the developer’s estimate.
Combat practice affects the clock
First-time players may need several attempts to learn a boss or mini-boss. A successful attempt after learning an attack pattern can be much quicker than an early failed attempt, but the time spent on those attempts still counts toward a personal playthrough total. Players who prefer to understand encounters safely may naturally take longer than players who accept more risk.

Build choices create different preparation time
The official game description highlights sidearms, Trinkets, and a level-up system that lets Mina be tailored to a preferred playstyle. Testing a new sidearm, changing Trinkets, or adjusting how Mina is leveled can add menu and travel time while also changing how easily later encounters are handled. There is no published formula that converts a particular build into a specific number of hours.

Backtracking is part of the design
An interconnected map can make a return trip meaningful rather than simply linear. If you notice an unreachable item or a previously locked route, you may choose to revisit it after gaining a new capability. Players who ignore those opportunities will tend toward a shorter, more focused session; players who treat every clue as an invitation to investigate will spend longer in the same world.
How to read the GOG and HowLongToBeat figures
The GOG listing’s 18.5-hour, 24.5-hour, and 31.5-hour values are useful as orientation, especially when planning how much time to reserve, but they should not be presented as official measurements. GOG attributes them to HowLongToBeat, a community source, and the listing can change as additional submissions arrive.
- 18.5 hours, main story: the shortest published category and the closest match for a player who prioritizes the central objectives.
- 24.5 hours, main plus sides: a middle reference for adding optional activities without necessarily pursuing every collectible or challenge.
- 31.5 hours, completionist: the longest published category, indicating what a fuller community run may take, but not proving that all content or every modifier fits into exactly that time.
The apparent difference between 18.5 hours and the developer’s 20–30-hour range is not a contradiction. The values use different categories and methods: one is a community-submitted category average shown by a storefront, while the other is a developer’s broad first-player estimate. They should not be compared as if they were recorded under identical conditions.
What makes Mina the Hollower replayable
New Game Plus
Yacht Club Games’ February 12, 2026 announcement confirms New Game Plus. Its inclusion means the game is designed to support at least one substantial return to the adventure, but the announcement does not state how many hours a New Game Plus run takes or exactly how progression carries over. Do not treat the first-run estimate as a forecast for that mode.

Hundreds of gameplay modifiers
The same announcement lists hundreds of gameplay modifiers. That is a large pool of possible rule changes or challenge adjustments, and it gives experienced players reasons to alter a familiar route. The published count demonstrates breadth, not a guaranteed amount of additional playtime: choosing a few modifiers and attempting every available modifier are very different goals.
More than 25 bosses and mini-bosses
Yacht Club Games lists more than 25 bosses and mini-bosses. Encounters of that scale can support replay through practice, self-imposed challenges, and attempts to improve execution. The count does not establish how many are mandatory, optional, or repeated in New Game Plus, so it should be used as a scope indicator rather than a duration calculation.
Sixty Trinkets and varied equipment
The announcement also lists 60 Trinkets. Combined with sidearms that have different movesets and Mina’s level-up choices, that gives players a substantial set of combinations to test. A build that is comfortable for one player may feel awkward to another, which can lead to experimentation runs even after the main story is complete.

| Play style | Likely experience | Best evidence to use |
|---|---|---|
| Direct first run | Follow the principal objectives, learn encounters as needed, and limit detours. | The lower part of the 20–30-hour developer range, with the 18.5-hour community main-story figure as a separate reference. |
| Exploratory first run | Search interconnected areas, investigate secrets, revisit routes, and test equipment. | The middle or upper part of the developer’s 20–30-hour range. |
| Main story plus optional content | Add side activities without committing to every collectible or modifier. | The 24.5-hour community figure, clearly labeled as HowLongToBeat-attributed. |
| Completion-focused run | Pursue as much optional content, equipment, and challenge material as you can find. | The 31.5-hour community completionist figure, not an official guarantee. |
| New Game Plus or modifier experimentation | Replay with altered rules, different builds, or self-imposed goals. | No official duration is available; the announcement confirms the systems but not their added hours. |
This table is a way to plan expectations, not a promise that your personal result will match one row. The categories overlap: an exploratory player may spend more than a completionist estimate in one area and less in another, depending on what they count as finished.

How to plan your first playthrough
- Reserve a 20–30-hour window. Use the developer’s range as your planning baseline for a first run rather than treating the shortest community figure as a deadline.
- Decide what “finished” means before starting. Choose whether your goal is the main path, main objectives plus side content, or a completion attempt. This prevents a changing target from making the game feel unexpectedly long.
- Keep exploration in your schedule. The world is built around connections and secrets. If you want to search thoroughly, plan sessions with enough time to revisit areas instead of rushing from one objective to the next.
- Expect learning time. Boss and mini-boss attempts, route discovery, and equipment testing are normal parts of a first run. A failed attempt is not evidence that the published estimate is wrong.
- Use build experimentation deliberately. Sidearms, Trinkets, and leveling choices are there to support different playstyles. Change one major variable at a time if you want to understand what helps, rather than repeatedly rebuilding without learning the result.
- Save completion goals for after the story if needed. Because New Game Plus and hundreds of modifiers are confirmed, you do not have to force every experiment into the first clear. The available sources do not say whether any specific item becomes unavailable later, so consult the game’s own guidance before skipping a one-time objective.
What is not currently established
Several tempting claims would go beyond the available evidence. There is no named controlled study measuring a median playthrough, no independently tested timing standard, and no verified number of hours for New Game Plus. The 31.5-hour completionist figure is not a developer-certified 100-percent benchmark, and the 20–30-hour statement does not specify a particular difficulty, route, or percentage of secrets collected.
There is also no published breakdown showing how many of the more than 25 bosses and mini-bosses are required, how all 60 Trinkets are obtained, or how each modifier changes a run. Those details may matter to a particular completion plan, but assigning them hours without a source would create false precision.
Platforms and buying considerations
Yacht Club Games lists Mina the Hollower for Nintendo Switch and PC, among other platforms. Check the store listing for the platform and edition you intend to use, because storefront availability and displayed playtime data can change independently of the developer’s estimate. The runtime guidance above applies to the game itself, not to a particular hardware version.

The practical answer
Plan on roughly 20–30 hours for a first playthrough, with your position in that range determined mainly by exploration, combat learning, and how much you experiment with builds. A focused community estimate of 18.5 hours exists, while adding side content and pursuing completion are listed at 24.5 and 31.5 hours respectively on GOG through HowLongToBeat-attributed data. Treat those storefront figures as reference points, not guarantees.
For replayability, the confirmed ingredients are New Game Plus, hundreds of gameplay modifiers, more than 25 bosses and mini-bosses, 60 Trinkets, sidearms with different movesets, secrets, and a leveling system. They make repeat play and build experimentation plausible, but no source currently converts them into a fixed number of extra hours.
